This study is concerned with the julpoong of Koguryo. The meaning, form, structure, user, the origin of the word the julpoong were examined. The pien of he ancient China and the julpoong of Koguryo were examined. The result of the analysis of this study is as follows. The Chinese and the people of Koguryo used the meanings of the julpoong differently : the Chinese referred the julpoong to the conical hat with the seams including one seam on it, while the people of Koguryo called the julpoong as the conical hat with seams excluding one seam on it. the people of Koguryo called the julpoong with one seam as the chack . The julpoong was used by all people of Koguryo : the government officials, envoys, and the commoners wore it. The word julpoong of Koguryo was derived from dulband, dulband, dubend, dolband of Persians. the word julpoong is correspondent with the above the persian words. The julpoong of Koguryo word was transliteration of dulband(dulband, dulbend, dolband) meaning turban or sash. The hat called chack by the people of 고구려 was the conical hat with one sea and their meaning of he chack was different from the meaning of the chack of the Chinese. The julpoong a kind of conical hat, was called by the pine by the ancient Chinese.

The aim of thesis is to analyze dress phenomena, the semantic function and meaning of clothing were respectively on the basis of Semantics and Society by Geoffrey Leech and mentalistic semantics. To comprehend the actual clothing behaviour better, the pictures taken on the streets were used, including all kinds of the western-style and the traditional Korean costumes in Korea. The followings are the findings of the analysis. A in language, the semantic functions of the clothing are the informational, the expressive, the directive, the aesthetic, and the phatic functions. They communicate operating simultaneously. The clothing is the mentalistic semantics.

This thesis, based on the semiotic theory, compared the meaning of sign which is a grounding the military uniform of the category of clothings as a cultural sign for formative relation. As for the scope of study, I made the Amy's uniforms during the last period of Korea Empire from 1895 to 1909 as an object of amy thesis and analyzed their decument and photographes. As a result of analyse of military uniform during by semiotical application, I made clear that it has role of signal by underlying signal's aspect of sign, and it si a sign which could symbolize the class, national and periodical distinction.

A clothing design preference & clothing satisfactions(a general satisfaction, fitness) was studied for women 55 years and older. The major results are as followings. In view of a clothing design preference, 1) Styles of outdoor clothes for spring-fall : ① Two-pieces ② Blouse(Sweater) & Slacks ③Blouse(Sweater) & Skirts. 2) Colors of clothes for seasons: (Spring - Pink, Light yellow, beige), (Summer - Light blue, Blue, Light green), (Fall - Brown, Red purple, Beige), (Winter - Black, Brown, Gray). 3) Fabric prints ; ① Unicolor without print ② Geometric print ③ Traditional print. 4) Kinds of textiles : ① Easy Laundriability ② A style of dressing ③ Uncrumple. In view of clothing satisfactions for ready made clothes, they have unsatisfactory trends as following orders. 1) Considering a general satisfaction : ① Clothing which go with oneself ② Fitness ③ Matching with other clothes. 2) Considering fitness for clothes : ① Sleve length ② Shoulder width ③ Length in Blouse (Sweater) & Jacket, ① Length ② Waist ③ Girth of hip (under abdomen) in slacks (skirts).

The purpose of this research is to grasp the factors behind a mother's behavior in purchasing baby's clothes and to investigate how her purchasing behavior is affected by the baby's age, sex, rank, her age, her educational background, her place of residence, her occupation, the number of children's and family's monthly income. for this purpose, questionnaires were used and personal interviews with 481 mothers who bring up from newborns to two-year-old babies in Seoul ere conducted. Through this research, some facts have been found as follows. 1. Mother's behavior in purchasing baby's clothes are affected by baby's variables such as the baby's age, sex and rank, particularly it is much affected by baby's rank. 2. Mother's behavior in purchasing baby's cloths are affected by mother's variables such as the mother's age, educational background, place of residence, occupation, the number of children's and family's monthly income. Particularly it is much affected by mother's educational background and family's monthly income.

The purpose of this study was to find the attitudes on clothing of the Korean people implied in the Korean proverb. The results of the analysis of this research was as follows: It was found that the Koreans regarded clothing and personal appearance as important matter in their everyday life. The awareness of the importance of wearing clothes and personal appearance was usual matter to the Koreans. Thus they put a great value on good and appropriate clothing behavior and personal appearance. The Koreans understood the meaning of clothes make the man and they knew how to use the clothing and personal appearance to relate people in the social order. They showed a tendency to treat a personal in terms of his appearance. it seems that since the Koreans knew the importance of clothing and personal appearance in the relationship between person and person they emphasized appropriate clothing behavior and decency.

This study is concerned with the personal appearance of the Korean people implied in the Korean proverb. The results of this research was as follows: It appeared that the Korean people preferred the balanced features to the unusual ones in terms of personal appearance. It also revealed that cleanliness and neatness in clothing and in personal appearance were valued by the Korean people. Proper posture was emphasized by the Koreans. Generally, fair skin and small hands were favored by both sexes. Also the Korean people favored handsome, gentle, and decent features as well as dignified and noble character.

This study is purposed to analyze the degree of content and wearing style of fur cloths in order for women to buy them effectively and to wear them contentedly. So scrutinized buying style and wearing condition of fur clothes. To show whether women's buying fur clothes are suitable for their body or not, this study was examined characteristics, sorts, method of fabrication and manufacture, buying pattern and trends of fur clothes. The conclusion from this study examining the degree of possession, decision making of buying and recognition of fur clothes are as followings: 1. When women wears fur clothes, style of fur clothes have nothing to do with their body and height, and women who are 150∼160cm tall content to fur clothes commonly. 2. Condition of buying fur clothes, many 40's women whose only husband earns family's bread belong to fur clothes, and buy them, talking with a husband. Also, according to income a month, and to the ind of a job, in case of a couple's earning family's bread together, women whose whose income is 800,000 to 1,000,000￦ level. 3. Condition of wearing fur clothes, the cause that women feel like wearing fur clothes is as following: economic stability their own pride, and contentment to wear them. Women want to wear those different from fur clothes that they possess, and half coat, because of working conveniently. As the above mention, purchasers recognite the conception of fur clothes for themselves, and buy economically them, and must wear those of which design and style are suitable for body.

This research has been studied the influence of Song Dynasty mode upon clothes and ornaments of Korea Dynasty by Seo Gung's (徐競) 『SunWhaBongSa KoryoDoKyung』(宣和奉使高麗圖經) and in Korea Dynasty period, by Buddhist picture. The clothing of the Song Dynasty was quite reserved and conservative, fewer variations and quiter colours thus conveying a feeling of simplicity and naturalness. Their clothings were no more luxurious than the clothing of Dang Dynasty. We had read that when Seo Gung visited Korea for month, and then it is in Emperor Injong's reign(A.D. 1123). Korea women's clothes and ornaments were followed by Song dynasty's clothing pattern as much as the took notice of Korea women's clothing. Korea DoKyung showed Song women's clothing that whal clothing that whal clothing (華衣), Yuansam(圖經) were Korea women's a ceremonial dress and so, Koryo women's clothing were very influenced by Song's mode. The conclusion of the research are as follows found out that Korea women's a ceremonial dresses were similar to Song's.

This report aims at studying on marriage extravagancies in Yi Dynasty and modern time in Korea. The author argues that we have to do the reform of consciousness and our reflection, with regard to the marriage extravagancies in Yi dynasty and modern times in Korea. In the way, we have to be illuminated by the seminar for the house wives of high class, by the discussion on marriage extravagancies or on the prohibition law of that which can keep.
