Abstract

Polyolefin elastomer (POE) is a thermoplastic elastomer that possesses properties of both thermoplastics and thermoset elastomers. POE is commonly used in the form of films. However, as the thickness of POE films decreases, they tend to become more tacky on the surface, leading to a blocking phenomenon. This tackiness can pose challenges during subsequent lamination processes. To address this issue, silica is often added to reduce tackiness. However, this addition can impact the film's flexibility. To maintain the desired flexibility, a plasticizer is incorporated into the POE resin. In this study, we aim to analyze the effects of silica and plasticizer addition on mechanical properties of the POE films such as tensile strength and elongation, and evaluate the suitability and optimal content of the plasticizer. Additionally, we will investigate the chemical and morphological changes in the film using SEM, solubility parameters, and ATR-FTIR analysis.
