Relations between Life Satisfaction and Self-Esteem according to Gender of Employed Adults: Correlation with Demographic Variables and Volunteer Activity

성인 취업자의 성별에 따른 생활만족도와 자아존중감의 관계: 인구사회학적인 변인 및 자원봉사활동 여부 상호작용효과

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the life satisfaction and self-esteem according to the gender of the adult employees, and to verify the impact of the interaction effects of demographic factors and volunteer activities. The data were used as the 12th data of the Korea Welfare Panel and 2,776 men and 2,175 women for analysis. The analysis method even validated the interaction effects by applying the SPSS program. The major result of this study was that self-esteem of adult employee was related to their life satisfaction. Since the effects of interactions was different according to gender, the research suggests measures to support policies and practice in order to enhance their life satisfaction and self-esteem according to the gender of adult employee.

본 연구 목적은 성인 취업자의 성별에 따른 생활만족도와 자아존중감에 관해 살펴보고, 인구사회학적인 변인과 자원봉사활동 여부 상호작용 효과까지 영향을 검증하는데 있다. 자료는 한국복지패널 12차 자료를 사용하였으며, 분석대상은 남성 2,776명 여성 2,175명으로 하였다. 분석방법으로는 SPSS 프로그램을 사용하여 상호작용 효과까지 검증하였다. 연구결과 성인 취업자의 자아존중감은 생활만족도와 관계가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 상호작용 효과는 성별에 따라 다르게 나타났다. 이를 토대로 성인 취업자의 성별에 따른 생활만족도와 자아존중감 높일 수 있는 차별적 개입 및 정책지원 방안을 제언하였다.
