Small Libraries as the Center of Local Community: Focused on the case of Atti Library

지역사회 공동체 중심으로서의 작은도서관 - 대구 안심지역의 아띠도서관 사례를 중심으로 -

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find a new role of the small libraries in the community as the center of the community through an investigation of the case of Atti library in Daegu. To achieve the study purpose, in-depth interview was conducted with the original members of the Atti library. The interview data were analyzed using a qualitative method. According to the study results, human networks of the community were solidified and expanded through the Atti library. Furthermore, the community people could have more confidence in solving the problems of the community and the community could grow further through the Atti library. The small libraries should think about their new roles as the center of the community beyond the role of the public libraries.

본 연구의 목적은 대구 동구 안심지역의 아띠도서관이 지역사회 공동체의 중심으로서의 역할을 수행해 나갔었던 과정을 탐색해봄으로써 지역사회에서의 작은도서관의 역할과 의미를 새롭게 인식하는데 있다. 연구목적 달성을 위해 아띠도서관 만들기모임 초기 구성원들을 중심으로 심층인터뷰를 진행하였으며 인터뷰자료는 질적분석 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 분석결과 아띠도서관은 지역사회에서 지역주민들 간의 인적네트워크가 공고해지고 확장되는 토대가 되었으며 지역주민들이 스스로 지역의 문제를 해결할 수 있다는 자신감을 가지게 함으로써 지역의 공동체가 성장하는데 핵심적 역할을 수행하였다. 지역의 작은도서관들은 단지 도서관으로서의 역할을 넘어 지역사회 공동체의 중심으로서의 역할 수행을 포함하여 자신들의 역할을 새롭게 정의할 필요가 있다 하겠다.
