Abstract

This study focuses on the spaces provided for the teachers under the premises that adequate spaces should be provided for certain users in nursery facilities. Even though the importance of the space for the teachers is recognized, the actual space provided for them is inadequate. Poor working environment for the teachers has an effect on their behaviors. Therefore, this study is focused on proposing a guideline for planning and improving physical problems based on the status of teacher's space in domestic nurseries. First, we identified related domestic researches and statistics and looked at the status and importance of teacher's space. Secondly, we analyzed the planning guidelines for teacher's space in domestic nurseries. Thirdly, we looked into foreign nursery cases to study the planning of teacher's space and its characteristics and categorized them. Based on the analysis above, this study proposes the definition of terms, institutional support, architectural design guidelines and improvement of evaluation program in order to provide teacher's spaces in domestic nurseries. Furthermore, this research proposes a guideline for teacher's spaces including space programs needed for teachers and types for planning.
