The Ecological Variables Research on the Effect of Teacher's Happiness in Child Care Center (보육교사의 행복에 영향을 미치는 생태체계변인 연구)

  • The purpose of research is analyzing the ecological variables on the effect of child care teacher's happiness. The data was collected by the survey of the happiness factors and ecological variables of child care teachers. The results are listed below. First, of organismic variable, the age and the educational background of child care teacher showed discrimination one's happiness. Second, of micro system variable, the marital status is the only thing that affect the happiness. Third, of meso system variable, the teachers who are highly interact on each other such as, child to teacher and parents to teacher are much happier than others. Finally, of the outside system variable, the teachers who are working at the better working environment and good quality of duty are much happier than others.

Influence of Teachers Self-efficacy on Job Satisfaction : Analysis by Comparing Public and Private Child Care Centers (보육교사의 효능감이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 : 국공립 어린이집과 민간 어린이집 보육교사의 비교 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate relationships between teachers' sense of self-efficacy and their job satisfaction to improve the quality of child care centers. It is crucial for teachers to have self-efficacy to reveal their potential for change and have opportunities to work better. In addition to teachers' self-efficacy, teachers' job satisfaction should be added to offer better child care service for parents as well as children. In this study, teachers' personalities and self-efficacy were compared between public and private child care centers to have further discussion making a progress of their job satisfaction. The results of this study are as follows : (a)The location of child care centers have meaningful effects on teachers' job satisfaction both in public and private child care centers equally. (b)Teachers in public child care centers have stronger influences on self-efficacy in home-related education and positive learning environment than teachers in private child care centers. (c)Teachers' participation in decision making is a significant factor that has affects on teachers' job satisfaction both in public and private child care centers.

Childcare Center Teacher's Health Status, Health Behavior, and Childcare Quality (보육교사의 건강상태, 건강행동과 보육의 질)

  • This research examined childcare center teachers' health status, health behavior, childcare quality, and the relationship among them. The subjects were 281 child-care center teachers in Kyunggi Province and Seoul. Data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA and Pearson Correration. Results showed that the score of child-care center teachers' health status was low. The teachers whose career were 3-5 years and whose ages were below 30s and 40s had the best health status. The score of teachers' health behavior score was low. Teachers whose career were 5-10 years had the best health behaviors in mental health and teachers whose career were 3-5 years had the best health behaviors in physical health and whose age were below 30s and 40s had the best health behaviors in mental health. Childcare center teachers' health status, health behavior, and childcare quality had positive relation reciprocally.

The Subjective Perception on the Job Contents of Educare Teachers (보육교사의 직무에 대한 인식 유형)

  • The purpose of this study is analyzing newly the role of the educare teachers by finding the teachers' subjective perception on their duty and understanding its feature. With the research, I'd like to present the fundamental materials for re-training and education for specialty. I Q-sorted 17 teachers based on the 36 statements which had been selected carefully. The results are following. The first type is the teacher who is aiming the specialized education. The teacher of this type needs to have the comprehensible knowledge on the child-development and seeks the teacher's specialty with self-supervision and study group. The second type is the teacher who is pursuing safety and protection for the children. The teacher of this type considers safety and cleanness very important and thinks that he or she should take care of the children by the cooperation with parents. The third type is the teacher who is heading for everyday's life and improvement. He or she thinks that teaching the child daily life is significant and by it, the child should grow up. The results of the research show us 3 points. The first, we need to re-design training program for the educare teachers. The second, we should prepare the manual for the teachers in accordance with the infants' growing-up. The third, we should understand the teacher's type and train him or her in accordance with the type.

Effects of First Aid Training Program on Child Care Teachers' Coping Intentions and Knowledge in the Case of Emergency Situations (응급처치교육 프로그램이 보육교사들의 응급상황 대처 의지 및 지식에 미치는 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of first aid programs(FAP) on the knowledge and will to cope with emergency situations, and to suggest the effective FAP for child care teachers by analyzing the needs of FAP. The subjects of this study were 159 child care teachers who received upgrading education. The results of the study are as follows. First, child care teachers have a willingness to cope with emergency situations. and child care teachers who were not able to do were caused by the burden of legal liability and lack of confidence in first aid techniques. Second, teachers who received FAP showed higher knowledge about first aid knowledge. Third, the type of FAP desired by the child care teachers showed the most favored type of whole practice. Fourth, the contents of FAP desired by child care teachers were CPR, airway obstruction, burn treatment and temperature related symptoms. In this study, FAP is needed in the process of child care teacher training. FAP should be practice-oriented education, and the contents of FAP should be structured based on the needs of child care teachers.

The Influence of Educare Teachers' Science Education Knowledge and Attitudes Towards Science on Science Teaching Anxiety (보육교사의 과학교육지식 및 과학에 대한 태도가 과학교수 불안에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of educare teachers' science education knowledge and attitudes towards science on science teaching anxiety. 259 teachers of young children were recruited from 19 daycare centers and the data were analyzed through frequency, percentage, Pearson's correlations using PASW 18.0 and structure equation modeling using AMOS 7.0. The findings are as follows. First, educare teachers showed more than median scores in all science education knowledge, attitude towards science and science teaching anxiety. Second, in total 57% of the variance in teachers' science teaching anxiety was accounted for by teachers' science education knowledge and attitude towards science. This result implied that teachers' science education knowledge and attitude towards science should be improved in order to reduce teachers' science teaching anxiety.

Current Working Conditions for the Teachers in Child Care (보육교사의 처우 현황과 개선방안 : 보수 체계를 중심으로)

  • This study has been carried out to suggest an improvement measure by analysing the current situation of the working condition for the teachers in child care. For this, governmental policy and law and relevant references in relation to the working conditions for the teachers have been collected for analysis. On the basis of the research, in order to improve the working condition for the teachers the following suggestions have been made: provision of salary system considered the level of qualification criteria and academic certificate, carrying out a raise in pay according to the salary class, requirement of written indication of a provision of allowance, increase of the initial salary for the principal of nurseries, observance of legislation for payment of excess duty allowance, elucidation of legislation for the salary of the teacher in unsupported nurseries and settlement of ratio of supporting personnel expenses from government.

The Relationship between Perceived Participation in Decision Making and Turnover Intention among Early Childhood Teachers: The Mediating Effect of Organizational Commitment (보육교사가 지각한 의사결정 참여와 이직의도와의 관계: 조직몰입의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This study examined the relationship between perceived participation in decision making and turnover intention among early childhood teachers and tested whether teachers' organizational commitment was a mediating factor. The subjects were 193 early childhood teachers working in day care centers in the Incheon and Gyeonggi-do areas. All valuables were measured by teacher questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using Manova and Path analysis. The main results of this study were as follows. Firstly, there was a significant difference in perceived participation in decision making, organizational commitment and turnover intention among teachers according to only the type of day care center. Secondly, teachers' participation in decision making was positively related to organizational commitment while both of them were negatively related to turnover intention. Finally, teachers' organizational commitment fully mediated the relationship of participation in decision making to turnover intention. These findings could provide supporting evidence for measures to improve a working environment for early childhood teachers.

Interpersonal Conflict Management Strategies Selected by Childcare Teachers (보육교사들이 선택한 갈등관리전략)

  • This study observed co-worker's conflict situations and interpersonal conflict management strategies from 5 teacher's conversations and informal gatherings in a new born child classroom. Taxonomic analysis, Domain analysis, and Componential analysis(Spradley, 1980) were used to analyze co-worker's conflict situations, and Styles of Handling Interpersonal Conflict(Rahim, 1983) were used to analyze the child care teachers' interpersonal conflict management strategies. The findings of this study were as follows: First, child care teachers experience conflict. The causes of conflict were to do their best, to protect the right of teachers, and to work jointly. Second, Dominating conflict management strategy was used when a cook wouldn't provide teacher's snacks or adopt a teacher's suggestion about methods of providing snacks. Avoiding conflict management strategy was used when a cleaner asked for help or a supervisor asked for extra work. Integrating conflict management strategy was used when infant care teachers suggested ways to go on a vacation. Obliging conflict management strategy was used when teachers followed the principal's directions to sit in and observe another teacher's classroom. Compromising conflict management strategy was used when infant care teachers suggested ways to clean up a play room together.

Structural Relationship Between Social Support, Job Stress, and Child Care Teachers' Burnout (보육교사의 사회적 지지, 직무스트레스, 소진 간 구조관계)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the structural relationship between social support and job stress variables affecting the exhaustion of child care teachers. The subjects of this study were 432 child care teachers who were working in child care centers. The collected data were analyzed by setting up a structural equation modeling via SPSS 21. 0 and AMOS 22.0 statistical programs. The main results of this study: first, social support directly affects child care teachers' job stress. Second, social support did not directly affect the burnout of child care teachers but indirect effect. Third, child care teachers' the job stress directly affect on child care teachers' burnout. As a result of the above analysis, it is necessary to strengthen the social support of the members and institutional support of the government.
