Reduced Translation in Chinese versions of Park Won-seo' Fictions

박완서 소설의 중국어 번역에 나타난 축소번역 연구

Since China and South Korea established diplomatic relations in 1992,more and more Korean literature works started to be introduced toChinese people. Among them, novels by Park Wan-Seo (1931-2011), arenowned South Korean female writer, has gradually been translatedinto Chinese and introduced to the Chinese, including but not limited to,The Naked Tree, That Boy's House, Such a Lonely You, The DreamingIncubator and A Very Old Joke. In this paper, Park Wan-Seo’s fictionworks (translated into Chinese) was analyzed from a macro and microperspective, in an attempt to identify the methods and strategies adoptedin the process of translating her novels into Chinese; What is more, itis also expected that the rule of thumb for good translation could beformulated and the pitfalls could be avoided. Thus this paper aims toprovide a valuable case study for the Korean literature translationstudies and serve as a stepping stone for Korean literature translatingpractices.

1992년 중국과 한국이 수교한 이후 중국 독자들은 수많은 한국 문학작품을 중국어 번역본으로도 읽을 수 있게 되었다. 그 중에서 박완서(1931-2011)의『그 많던 싱아는 누가 다 먹었을까』와『너무도 쓸쓸한 당신』등 소설은 중국인 애독자들에게도 잘 알려진 작품들이다. 본고에서는 이들 작품을 대상으로 미시적으로 박완서 소설의 중역본에서 번역가가 축소 번역한 단락을 예로 들어서 번역 전략을 분석했다. 실제 축소 번역된 부분 중에서 적당한 번역 방법이 무엇인지 살펴보면서 축소 번역 기법을 부당한 방법으로 사용하지 않았는지 분석했다. 축소 번역 기법을 적절히 활용하여 한국 문학 작품을 중국어로 번역할 때 도움이 되기를 바란다.
