Status and prospects of dental medical industry: Focused on the industry of medical materials and devices

치과의료산업의 현황과 전망: 의료기자재 산업을 중심으로

Objective This study was aimed at examining the current state of the expanding market of dental materials and devices in our own and other countries by analyzing the production of medical devices and statistic data on import and export reporting by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Method We performed the research by dividing into two categories, medical materials and devices and dental materials and devices, according to the classification code of medical devices. Dental materials and devices were divided into dental devices and dental materials. The analysis results were classified into 4 parts; analysis of the current state of global market, analysis of the current state of domestic production, analysis of the current state of import market, and analysis of the current state of import market. Results The medical industry in Korea takes up 1.6% of global market share from .8 billion dollars in 2011 to 5.1 billion dollars in 2013. During the analysis period, Korea was one step up from the 12^th in 2011 to 11^th in 2013 among the top 20 countries and furthermore the steady increase of export and decrease of import led to the trade surplus in the market of dental materials and devices in 2013. Simultaneously, among dental materials and devices, specialized materials had a remarkable gain. While dental implant recorded the export of 112,475,000 dollars and thereby ranked the first in each field of dental materials for 6 years, occupying the 1^st also in the import of dental materials and devices with the total import of 130,833,000 dollars for six years from 2008 to 2013. Conclusion The domestic industry in dental materials and devices has maintained high ratio and has grown steadily since it is medical industry and furthermore specific items are related and have an impact on the growth of each market.

연구목적: 본 연구는 국·내외 증가하고 있는 치과의료기자재 시장에 대한 실태를 살펴보고자 식품의약품안전처의 의료기기 생산 및 수출입 실적 통계자료에 기초해 분석하였다. 연구방법: 분석은 의료기기 분류코드에 따라 의료기자재와 치과의료기자재로 구분하여 수행하였다. 치과의료기자재는 치과기기와 치과재료로 구분하였고 분석결과는 크게 4부분으로 세계시장 현황분석, 국내 생산 현황분석, 수출 현황분석, 수입 현황분석으로 항목으로 나누어 기술하였다. 연구결과: 우리나라는 의료산업은 2011년 48억 달러에서 2013년 51억 달러로 세계시장규모의 1.6%를 차지하고 있다. 분석기간 동안 우리나라는 상위 20개국 중 2011년 12위에서 2013년 11위로 한 단계 상승하였다. 국내 치과의료 산업은 꾸준한 수출의 증가와 수입의 감소로 2013년 치과의료기자재 시장은 무역수지 흑자를 기록했다. 동시에 치과의료기자재 중 일부 특화 재료에서 눈에 띄는 성장을 보이고 있다. 치과용 임플란트는 2013년 수출액 112,475천 달러를 기록하며 6년간 치과재료부문 수출액 1위를 기록했으나 2008년-2013년 6년간 수입액 총액 130,833천 달러를 달하여 치과의료기자재 수입부문에서도 1위를 기록하였다. 결 론: 국내 치과의료기자재 산업은 의료산업에서 높은 비중을 유지하며 지속적인 성장을 하고 있고 특정 품목들은 서로 연관되어 각각의 시장 발전에 영향을 주고 있다.
