Abstract

As a method to adapt to rapid climate change, Climate Adaptive Building Shells (CABS) system gains great attention these days. Integration of CABS in building system needs interdisciplinary research efforts to enhance design quality from early design stage. The purpose of this study is to incorporate performance-oriented design process, BIM-based collaborative design, and design optimization methods to improve design productivity. To reach the purpose, diverse software was integrated to expand conventional design method. Next, classification of building shells components, design alternative generation by a generative design method, information processing for environmental analysis, and alternative evaluation methods are studied. This research can contribute to the design process development of CABS.
