Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin was diagnosed in an 11-year-old, Australian shepherd dog with a hard mass on the right rump area. On histopathological examination of the tumor showed laminated keratin "pearls" surrounded by proliferated squamous cells, and mitotic figures. The dog was treated by surgical excision and chemotherapy with vinblastine sulfate, cyclophosphamide and prednisolone for 4 weeks.
