Abstract

본 연구는 현재 24개 대학도서관에서 사용하고 있는 도서관 자동화 시스템의 OPAC의 기능성과 인터페이스 유용성을 조사하여 각 OPAC 시스템이 어느 정도까지의 기능을 가지고 있으며 앞으로 보다 주력하여 개발해야할 기능, 또는 보강해야할 기능 및 검색 인터페이스를 알아보았다. 이를 위하여 벤치마크로 사용된 체크리스트를 작성하였다. 조사 결과, 기술적으로 쉽게 해결될 수 있는 탐색 접근점, 출력 정보, 화면 구성 등에 관련된 사항은 높은 점수를 받고 있었고 시스템간의 차이도 거의 없는 것으로 나타났으나, 탐색지원 기능과 탐색기능은 여전히 이용자를 충족시키지 못하고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 OPAC 시스템 개발자와 사서는 이용자의 탐색지원 기능과 자동 어휘사전 구축을 통한 어휘브라우즈 기능을 강화시켜야 할 것이며, 시각화 인터페이스와 하이퍼링크 기능도 제공할 수 있도록 노력해야할 것이다.
