Abstract
Elastic islands-in-a-sea fiber, a kind of polyester, was studied as fiber material for artificial suede. The elastic islands-in-a-sea fiber consisted of two polymers ; Sea component was cation dyeable polyester(CDP) and island component was polyetherester(PEE). PEE microfibers of 0.2 denier wee left when the sea component was dissolved with alkali in the suede finishing process. Optimum condition to produce this fiber was as follows; Spinning temperature of PEE was 25$0^{\circ}C$, that of CDP was 2$65^{\circ}C$, composition of CDP/PEE was 35/65, and the spinning speed was 700m/min.
