Abstract

Let C be the Cantor set. It is well known that C+C = {x+y : $x\;{\in}\;C$, $y\;{\in}\;C$} = [0, 2] and C - C = [-1, 1]. We introduce a fairly elementary method for the proof which also works even for generalized Cantor sets.
