코로나의 등장으로 감염병 문제가 대두되는 상황속 화장품 판매점에서 사용되는 샘플용 화장품은 감염의 원인이 될 수 있다. 이를 예방하기 위해 각 화장품 판매점에서 뷰티미러를 사용할 수 있다. 뷰티미러는 조작용 기기와 거울용 기기로 구성된다. 거울용 기기에서 사용자의 얼굴을 인식하기 위해 얼굴의 특징점을 찾고 부위별로 특징점을 나누어 활용한다. 조작용 기기와 거울용 기기간 통신을 위해 FTDI232 칩을 이용해 Serial통신으로 데이터를 송·수신한다. 뷰티미러는 화장품 매장에만 국한되지 않고 인터넷 쇼핑몰에 적용해 온라인 환경에서도 테스트 가능하게 하는 등의 활용이 가능하다.
