Design and Implementation of Tool Server and License Server REL/RDD processing based on MPEG-21 Framework

MPEG-21 프레임워크 기반의 REL/RDD 처리를 위한 라이센스 서버와 툴 서버의 설계 및 구현

The technique of developing Digital Contents have still not be a standard, and it is cause some problems in the Digital Contents's creating, circulation and consumption, So solve the problem, MPEG suggest MPEG-21 framework. In the standard, The IPMP take charge of the Digital Contents's protection and management, and also it is the same as the rights expression language REL and the dictionary defining the word of REL. But. the study of the IPMP is later than the study of REL and RDD, such as the other study of the MPEG-21 standard. So, there is few system based REL and RDD. In this paper, in order to management and protect contents right. So facing the latest standard, we designed and implementation the Tool Server and the License Server based on REL/RDD.

디지털 콘텐츠 기술의 비표준화는 콘텐츠의 제작과 유통 및 소비 과정에서 상호 호환성의 문제를 발생시키고 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 MPEG(Moving Picture Experts Group)에서는 MPEG-21 프레임워크를 제안하여 표준을 진행하고 있다. MPEG-21에서 디지털 콘텐츠의 보호 및 관리는 IPMP(Intellectual Property Management and Protection)에서 담당하고 IPMP의 세부 기술 요소인 XML(Extensible Markup Language) 기반의 저작권 표현 언어인 REL(Rights Expression Language)과 REL에 대한 용어를 정의한 RDD(Rights Data Dictionary)에서도 진행하고 있다. 그러나 REL과 RDD의 표준화 작업에 비해 이와 연동되는 IPMP와 다른 MPEG-21의 표준 진행이 늦어졌기 때문에 실제 REL과 RDD를 적용한 시스템도 미비한 상황이다. 이에 본 논문에서는 디지털 콘텐츠의 저작권을 관리 및 보호하기 위하여 최근 발표된 MPEG-21의 표준 내용을 적용하여, 이와 함께 REL과 RDD를 이용한 라이센스 서버와 툴 서버를 설계 및 구현하였다.
