[Ga]-MFI and H-ZSM-5 catalysts were synthesized under atmospheric pressure and used in the propylene aromatization. The effect of temperature on the product distribution was also investigated. The catalytic activities of the prepared catalysts were compared with the commercialized H-ZSM-5 which was converted from $NH_{4}$-ZSM-5. In the propylene aromatization, product distribution does not depend on the ratio of Si/$Ga_{2}$ with [Ga]-MFI catalyst, but depend on the ratio of Si/$Al_{2}$ with H-ZSM-5 catalyst [Ga]-MFI catalyst shows better dehydrogenation and alkylation activities than H-ZSM-5 catalyst The addition of Ga to H-ZSM-5 catalyst increases the conversion of propylene, selectivity to aromatics, and alkylation. In the propylene aromatization, the selectivity to aromatics slightly increased with increasing temperature with [Ga]-MFI catalyst, while slightly decreased with increasing temperature with H-ZSM-5 catalyst.
ZSM-5 zeolite composite membranes have been synthesized from a silica sol solution containing TPABr as an organic template by the dip-coating and the pressurized-coating hydrothermal treatment techniques. The CO2 separation efficiency of synthesized composite membranes was also investigated. The permeation mechanism of CO2 through ZSM-5 membranses was the surface diffusion, and that of N2, O2, and He gases was Knudsen diffusion or activated diffusion depending on the synthetic method of membranes and the measurement temperature. The CO2/N2 separation factor of the membrane prepared by the dip-coating hydrothermal treatment was 2.5 at about 12$0^{\circ}C$, while the ZSM-5 composite membrane synthesized by the pressurized-coating hydrothermal treatment technique showed the CO2/N2 separation factor of 9.0 at room temperature higher than that ever reported in the literature.

The catalytic filter of Cu-ZSM5/alumina beads was considered to reduce NOx in the urea SCR system. Catalytic support of porous alumina beads with mean pore size $130{\mu}m$ and porosity $75{\sim}83%$ were prepared using foaming and gel-casting method. The Cu-ZSM5 catalysts were coated on the supporting alumina beads using $Cu(NO_3)_2$ by ion exchange method. After a washcoating process was applied to coat 10w% Cu-ZSM5 on porous alumina bead, coating layer was estimated $20{\mu}m$ in thickness. The characterization and the feasibility as a catalytic supports were investigated. And the NOx conversion test in Cu-ZSM5/Alumina Beads filter system was conducted by using Urea as reductants under laboratory test. The NOx conversion was increased as size and porosity of beads and observed more than 95% excellent NOx conversion above $300^{\circ}C$.

The selective catalytic reduction(SCR) of nitric oxide by ethane in the presence of oxygen was investigated on Cu-ZSM-5, Co-ZSM-5 and Ga-ZSM-5 catalysts over a range of 400, 450 and $500^{\circ}C$. The catalysts were prepared by ion-exchange method. The composition of the reactant gases were 1000 ppm of NO, 1000 ppm of $C_{2}H_{6}$ and 2.5% of $O_{2}$, and the reaction was conducted in a fixed-bed reactor at 1 atm. For the 20wt% Co-ZSM-5(50) catalyst, the NO conversion reached up to 100%, while the $C_2H_6$ conversion and the CO selectivity were about 50% and 25%, respectively, at $450^{\circ}C$. For the 20wt% Cu-ZSM-5(50) catalyst, the NO conversion and the C2H6 conversion were about 80% and 100%, respectively, but there was no CO produced. The metal ion-exchanged ZSM-5 catalysts exhibited a tendency to increase the NO conversion with the Si/Al ratio of the ZSM-5, that is, NO conversion was inversely proportional to the acidity of the catalysts. But, the effect of the acidity on NO conversion was not so large. From the XRD results of the catalysts before and after SCR reaction it was found that there was no structural change.
MFI(Mobil Five) structured hydrophobic ZSM-5 zeolite membrane was used for selective pervaporation of trichlorinated organic compounds(trichloromethane, trichloroethane, trichloroethylene) from their aqueous solutions. ZSM-5 zeolite membrane was hydrothermally synthesized on the inside of a porous stainless steel tube by secondary growth employing ZSM-5 seed powders. Separation factors for each binary mixtures were observed $16{\sim}66$ for trichloromethane/water, $3.3{\sim}4.6$ for trichloroethane/water and $1.4{\sim}8$ for trichloroethylene/water at the experimental conditions of the feed mole fraction from 0.0001 to 0.001 with temperature ranged $25{\sim}35^{\circ}C$.
In this study, an effective method to prepare granular binderless ZSM-5 which is as efficient p-xylene separatory adsorbent was explored. Colloidal silica sol 30 wt% solution as an inorganic binder and microcrystalline cellulose as an organic additive were added to ZSM-5 powder ($SiO_2/Al_2O_3$ = 50). Adsorbent with enough strength (0.721 kgf), high crystallinity (94.6%) and high BET specific surface area ($379.2m^2$/g) was obtained by calcination, binderless treatment, ${NH_4}^+$ ion exchange, and activation after spherical granulation process. A batch type adsorption experiment was proceeded with solutions comprising 3 xylene isomers by 1 : 1 : 1 weight ratio to evaluate adsorption characteristics of prepared absorbent. As a result, the obtained binderless ZSM-5 granule showed a higher selective adsorption performance for para-xylene than that of commercial adsorbent.
Dealuminated and alkali/alkaline-earth metal exchanged Y-type and ZSM-5 zeolites were prepared as catalytic materials. Comparing with the composition of starting material, the magnitude of Si/Al ratio was increased after dealumination and cation exchange process. The ratio of Si/Al on surface was appeared to be larger than that in bulk. The destruction of basic frame in catalysts observed was understood to be due to a detachment of aluminum, which results in reducing framework while increasing non-framework. This phenomenon becomes more serious with increasing time of steam treatment and even more significant for the cation exchanged catalysts. The desorption peaks of the NO-TPD profiles taken after dealumination and cation exchanged Y-type and ZSM-5 zeolites shifted to the low temperature region. It was also found that the longer the steam treatment time, the degree of shift toward low temperature region was increased. The catalytic activities are dependent on the nature of cation exchanged, the ratio of Si/Al and the ratio of framework/non-framework by a change in basic frame.
Na, TPA-ZSM-5 with Si / Al mole ratio of about 130 was synthesized at low temperature and atmospheric pressure. These intermediate products were characterized by using XRD, XRF, FT-IR, NMR, and SEM. As a result, intermediate product were different from those that synthesized by autoclave method but spectroscopic characteristics of the final products showed to be in the typical ZSM-5 region. The defect sites were observed in the final product and removed by calcination at $540^{\circ}C$. Na, TPA-ZSM-5, aboveall, was synthesized at this condition within 48hr.

ZSM-5 crystals grew on the surface of ${\alpha}$-SiC and ${\beta}$-SiC particles by hydrothermal synthesis method. SiC particles which were > $50{\mu}m$ of size were used, and oxide layer were developed on the surface of the particles to induce growth of ZSM-5 from the surface. Then, synthesis time and temperature condition were considered growing ZSM-5. In this study, oxide layer was formed on ${\beta}$-SiC at $900^{\circ}C$ in air, and it was controlled to grow ZSM-5 grew from the ${\beta}$-SiC surface with $150^{\circ}C$ synthesis condition. This is due to Si-O-Si or Si-O-Al bond, which is basic framework of ZSM-5 can be easily formed, from the silicon oxide film on the surface of ${\beta}$-SiC. When the synthesis temperature was $200^{\circ}C$, the size of ZSM-5 was increased, and it covered much area of the SiC surface with better crystal shapes with longer synthesis time.
