In this study, the effect on the welding angle distortion was reviewed by carrying out a thermal elastic-plastic analysis while changing the cooling condition(width, length, and distance from weld torch to cooling torch) the back of the welding zone for the butt weld joint. The review results revealed that maximum 57% of reduction in the angle distortion was achieved when the distance between weld torch and cooling tip of 25mm, cooling length of 80mm, and cooling width of 30mm were maintained.

The Mechanical properties of steel in hot strip mill were associated with the alloy composition, plastic deformation, cooling history and so on. In the case of the same alloy composition and deformation conditions, cooling history on ROT (run out table) is the main factor in affecting mechanical properties of steel, especially, in carbon steel. On ROT, the steel undergoes under various kinds of cooling conditions such as radiation, convection by air, water and wetting zone. The coiling temperature (CT) of the steel is also important factor in affecting mechanical properties. But with the same CT, the mechanical properties of steel can be different because the temperature history of cooling is more important factor than CT itself. In this study, we have studied the relations between temperature history and mechanical properties of steel and then the predicted mechanical properties have compared with the measured values.
The offshore industry created a need for quality wet weld repairs. Wet welding is a fast method of repair providing sound, structural quality welds. It requires less support equipment than a similar underwater dry weld repair or the alternative mechanical connections. Compared to welds made in air, underwater wet welds are plagued by increased hardness due to rapid quenching by the surrounding water. In this paper is described the experimntal study of improving the cooling rates of wet welds of TMCP steel plate by shielding around weld arc surroundings. The principal results of this experimental investigation can be summarized as follows : By shielding around weld arc surrounding, the cooling rates resulting from wet welds on TMCP steel plate could be lower than that of nonshielded wet welds and the fesibility on high quality of mecanical properties of wet weld on TMCP steel plate was carried out with shielded weld arc surrounding.

For turbulent spray combustion flows a coupled numerical procedure was developed, This method was discretized by using generalized curvilinear coordinates to handle complex geometries. The preconditioning and eigenvalue rescaling techniques were employed to provide efficient convergences over a wide range of subsonic Mach numbers. The accuracy was validated by simulating the laminar cavity flow. The film cooling effect of a liquid rocket engine (KSR-III) were investigated by a spray combustion analysis. The film cooling showed a negative effect on the combustion efficiency. In the combustion chamber wall, the film cooling effect was revealed to be promoted by the production of fuel rich zone.

Pollen analysis from lake districts, Youngnangho, Wolhamji and Bangeojin, revealed vegetational patterns in Korea. The pollen stratigraphy was divided into five zones, zone L, I, II, IIIa and IIIb for the past 15,000 years. During zone L (earlier than 10,500 yr BP), late-glacial period, Youngnangho was vegetated with a coniferous forest dominated by spruce, larch, haploxylon pine and fir with considerable amount of herbs. Zone I(10,500~7500 yr BP) was predominantly herbaceous vegetationj with significant amount of oak and diploxylon pine. It suggests that the overall environment became milder and drier than late-glacial period. Zone II(7,500~4,000 yr BP), hypsithermal period, showed significant warming condition, indicated by high pollen concentrations of oak, diploxylon pine and hornbeam, and by more diverse flora of deciduous broad-leaved trees than before. Herbs were not an important part of vegetation. Zone III$^a$(4,000~1,500 yr BP) had pine and oak as main elements. Birch increased slightly while hornbeam decreased in this time. It indicates cooling condition. Zone III$^b$(1,5000-present) which can be called pine period showed obvious human interference. Following forest clearance, agriculture was intensified. The beginning of logging and agriculture was discernible by a sudden decline of arboreal species and by considerable amount of rice, buckwheat, sorrel and plantain. Numerous charcoal fragments were observed in zone I and zone III$^b$.

A fundamental study on the cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat and its operation characteristics in sea water cooling system were performed experimentally. The circumstance is giving the blow against fisherman with incoming-decreasing and the difficulty of crew's supply and demand and management. In addition, the depression of the external situation such as the plan of EEZ(Exclusive Economic Zone) proclaim is forcing them into improving their fishing condition. By this international and domestic surrounding, the development of a cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat is demanded sincerely. We investigated load characteristics as the pilot plant operation characteristics estimation which is based on the development of cooling system and optimum cooling apparatus inshore fishing boat. These results provide useful informations which are applicable to an actual design and show the possibility of application to other fields.

The problem of welding stresses and fatigue behavior is the main concerns of welding research fields. The residual stresses and distortion of structures by welding is exert negative effect on the safety of mechanical structures. That is, expansion of material by high temperature and distortion by cooling during welding process is caused of tensile and compressive residual stresses on welding material, and this residual stresses reduce fracture and fatigue strength of welding structures. The accurate prediction of residual stress and relaxation due to loading and post weld heat treatment of weld zone is very important to improve the quality of weldment. In this study, a finite element modeling technique is developed to simulate the relaxation of residual stresses due to loading and post weld heat treatment of weld zone. The accuracy of finite element models is evaluated based on experimental results and the results of the analytical solution.
In this study, the transient temperature distribution of welded zone was analyzed by Finite Element Method for the optimal design of weldment. This study was carried out for the steel plate 8mm thick, 100mm wide, 100mm long that butt weld. The weld was made with a heat input of 2,250 joule/cm(arc current : 180 amperes ; arc voltage :25 volts ; and arc travel steed : 0.28 cm/sec). In the analysis of temperature, cooling in the welded zone by the conduction between materal was almost completed at 600 sec when a unique temperature field was formed. after this, the material was gradually cooled by the heat transfer to the circumference. In the early phase the temperature in base metal zone is little changed. but after the rise in temperature the whole area is cooled gradually.
