Implementation of an Interleaved AC/DC Converter with a High Power Factor

  • An interleaved bridgeless buck-boost AC/DC converter is presented in this paper to achieve the characteristics of low conduction loss, a high power factor and low harmonic and ripple currents. There are only two power semiconductors in the line current path instead of the three power semiconductors in a conventional boost AC/DC converter. A buck-boost converter operated in the boundary conduction mode (BCM) is adopted to control the active switches to achieve the following characteristics: no diode reverse recovery problem, zero current switching (ZCS) turn-off of the rectifier diodes, ZCS turn-on of the power switches, and a low DC bus voltage to reduce the voltage stress of the MOSFETs in the second DC/DC converter. Interleaved pulse-width modulation (PWM) is used to control the switches such that the input and output ripple currents are reduced such that the output capacitance can be reduced. The voltage doubler topology is adopted to double the output voltage in order to extend the useable energy of the capacitor when the line voltage is off. The circuit configuration, principle operation, system analysis, and a design example are discussed and presented in detail. Finally, experiments on a 500W prototype are provided to demonstrate the performance of the proposed converter.

Torque Ripple Reduction in Direct Torque Control of Five-Phase Induction Motor Using Fuzzy Controller with Optimized Voltage Vector Selection Strategy

  • This paper presents a torque ripple reduction method of direct torque control (DTC) using fuzzy controller with optimal selection strategy of voltage vectors in a five-phase induction motor. The conventional DTC method has some drawbacks. First, switching frequency changes according to the hysteresis bands and motor's speed. Second, the torque ripple is rapidly increased in long control period. In order to solve these problems, some/most papers have proposed torque ripple reduction methods by using the optimal duty ratio of the non-zero voltage vector. However, these methods are complicated in accordance with the parameter. If this drawback is eliminated, the torque ripple can be reduced compared with conventional method. In addition, the DTC can be simply controlled without the use of the parameter. Therefore, the proposed algorithm is changing the voltage vector insertion time by using the designed fuzzy controller. Also, the optimized voltage vector selection method is used in accordance with the torque error. Simulation and experimental results show effectiveness of the proposed control algorithm.

  • This paper presents Active-clamp Class-E high frequency resonant inverter with single-stage. The proposed circuit is integrated Active-c class-E circuit to boost converter with the funct power factor correction. Boost converter is opera positive and negative half cycle respectively at frequency(60Hz), operating in Discontinuous Con Mode(DCM) of boost converter performs high p factor. By adding active-clamp circuit in Cl inverter, main switch of inverter part is operat only ZVS(Zero Voltage Switch), but also reduce switching voltage stress of main switch. Simulation result using Psim4.1 show that the p prove the validity of theoretical analysis. This proposed inverter will be able to be pract used as a power supply in various fields are ind heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

  • This paper presents a novel DC-DC Converter for 3 [kW] Fuel Cell System Residential Application. Phase shifted control is employed to regulate the output voltage and achieve soft switching. The transformer leakage inductance is utilized effectively to achieve zero voltage turn on for the power semiconductor switches. The current doubler rectifier has only one diode drop. The transformer secondary winding current rating is one half the load current. The overall effciency of the converter is improved.

  • Silent gas discharge method has been widely applied for ozone production, ultraviolet light and UV laser generation. Since ozone and ultraviolet applications have tendency to spread widely in industry, the development of efficient and low-cost power supply for such systems is a task of great impotency. This paper introduces high-frequency inverter type mode power supply designed for ozone generation tube and ultraviolet generation excimer lamp and considerations on this inverter and pulse density modulation control strategy applied in it.

  • This paper proposes a programmed ignition method of high frequency electronic ballast for metal halide lamp. The method precisely controls the ignition voltage and prevents possible damage of ballast for abnormal lamp operation or lamp failure, also sures the zero voltage switching. This improved performance for igniting the lamp enables reliable product of high frequency ballast because of high efficiency, fast start and no extra ignitor.

  • 본 논문은 대용량에 적합한 직·병렬 구조를 가지는 공진형 고압 DC 전원장치에 대한 것이다 이 장치는 전력소자(IGBT)가 스위칭 할 때 발생하는 스위칭 손실과 EMI를 감소시키기 위해서 UC3879를 이용한 영전압 스위칭 (ZVS; Zero Voltage Switching)방식을 채택하였고 영전압 스위칭 위상차제어 직렬 공진형(ZVS PCS-SPI ; ZVS Phase Shifted Control Series Resonant Inverter)으로 동작시켜 고압변압기의 누설 인덕터와 기생 캐패시터를 이용하여 승압이 효과적으로 일어나도록 하였다 또한 고압부는 입력과 효과적으로 일어나도록 하였다 또한 고압부는 입력과 출력부분이 각각 병렬과 직렬로 구성되어 있어서 각각의 모듈이 독립적인 ZVS가 일어나도록 하여 대용량화가 용의 하도록 하였다 본 논문에서10kV/60kW급의 대용량 고압 DC 전원 장치를 구성하여 이를 증명하였다.

  • 3-레벨 ZVS PWM DC/DC 컨버터는 풀브리지 ZVS PWM DC/DC 컨버터와 같은 동작 특성을 가지면서 입력전압의 반을 스위칭 소자의 차단전압으로 갖기 때문에 높은 입력을 갖는 DC-DC 변환시스템에 적합한 구조라 할 것이다. 그러나 부유 인덕턴스의 영향으로 인한 내외측 소자간의 차단전압 불균형의 문제와 경부하에서 영전압 스위칭 동작을 하지 못하므로 부하범위가 작다는 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이와 같은 문제점들은 시스템의 신뢰도를 낮추며, 경부하로 갈수록 효율을 떨어뜨리게 된다. 철도 차량과 같은 고압, 대용량의 시스템에서 이러한 문제들은 더욱 두드러 진다. 본 논문에서는 내외측 소자간의 차단전압 불균형의 문제를 없애며, 무부하에서 전부하까지 모든 부하 영역에서 영전압 스위칭 동작을 할 수 있는 새로운 3-레벨 ZVS PWM DC/DC 컨버터를 제시한다. 제안한 회로의 동작 특성과 타당성을 시뮬레이션 및 실험 결과를 통하여 입증한다.

This paper shows that simulation result using Psim 4.1 prove the validity of theoretical analysis. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

  • A resonant converter suitable for applications of wide input variation is proposed. A half-bridge converter and a phase-shift converter are combined in primary and the secondaries of each transformer are connected in series which makes four voltage levels. Furthermore, by adopting resonant converter scheme, a resonant capacitor is connected with the secondaries of the transformers in series and an output inductor is removed. Zero voltage switching is achieved from full load to no load. The analysis of the resonant converter and experimental results of 200W prototype is presented to verify the features of the converter.
