Sustainable wheat production is of paramount importance for attaining/maintaining the food self-sufficiency status of the rapidly growing nation of Pakistan. However, the average wheat yield per unit area has been dwindling in recent years and the climate-induced variations in rainfall patterns and temperature regimes, during the wheat growth period, are believed to be the reason behind this decline. Crop growth simulation models are powerful tools capable of playing pivotal role in evaluating the climate change impacts on crop yield or productivity. This study was aimed to predict the plausible variations in the wheat yield for future climatic trends so that possible mitigation strategies could be explored. For this purpose, Aquacrop model v. 4.0 was employed to simulate the wheat yield under present and future climatology of the largest agricultural province of Punjab in Pakistan. The data related to crop phenology, management and yield were collected from the experimental plots to calibrate and validate the model. The future climate projections were statistically downscaled from five general circulation models (GCMs) and compared with the base line climate from 1980 to 2010. The model was fed with the projected climate to simulate the wheat yield based on the RCP (representative concentration pathways) 4.5 and 8.5. Under the worst, most likely future scenario of temperature rise and rainfall reduction, the crop yield decreased and water footprint, especially blue, increased, owing to the elevated irrigation demands due to accelerated evapotranspiration rates. The modeling results provided in this study are expected to provide a basic framework for devising policy responses to minimize the climate change impacts on wheat production in the area.

Supplying sufficient rice to growing populations is a global challenge. Hybrid indica rice varieties exploiting heterosis have increased yields, but inter-subspecific crosses between indica and japonica varieties are hampered by sterility. Examination and genetic understanding of yield heterosis in indica/japonica crosses addressing yield barriers are basic requirements. In this study, QTLs for heterosis of yield traits were identified in indica-japonica recombinant inbred lines (RILs) using a total of 178 RILs originating from Dasanbyeo (indica) ${\times}$ TR22183 (japonica) (DT-RILs) and their backcrossed populations. Nine of sixty-six major quantitative trait loci (QTLs) identified in DT-RILs exhibited heterosis. Heterosis QTLs clustered with other traits on chromosomes 1, 4, and 8, and clusters were conserved between different RILs. The clusters contained several known yield enhancement genes/QTLs. Specific heterotic allele combinations contributed to four major heterosis QTLs, particularly for panicle and spikelet number traits. Heterosis for yield and yield-related traits was explained by the harmonized effects of overdominance, dominance, and epistatic interactions in inter-subspecific breeding populations.

Unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) can acquire images with lower cost than conventional manned aircraft and commercial satellites. It has the advantage of acquiring high-resolution aerial images covering in the field area more than 50 ha. The purposes of this study is to develop the rice grain yield distribution using UAV. In order to develop a technology for estimating the rice yield using UAV images, time series UAV aerial images were taken at the paddy fields and the data were compared with the rice yield of the harvesting area for two rice varieties(Singdongjin, Dongjinchal). Correlations between the vegetation indices and rice yield were ranged from 0.8 to 0.95 in booting period. Accordingly, rice yield was estimated using UAV-derived vegetation indices($R^2=0.70$ in Sindongjin, $R^2=0.92$ in Donjinchal). It means that the rice yield estimation using UAV imagery can provide less cost and higher accuracy than other methods using combine with yield monitoring system and satellite imagery. In the future, it will be necessary to study a variety of information convergence and integration systems such as image, weather, and soil for efficient use of these information, along with research on preparing management practice work standards such as pest control and nutrient use based on UAV image information.

Yield monitoring systems have become integral to precision agriculture, providing insights into the spatial variability of crop yield and playing an important role in modern harvesting technology. This paper aims to review current research trends in yield monitoring systems, specifically designed for non-grain crops, including cabbages, radishes, potatoes, and tomatoes. A systematic literature survey was conducted to evaluate the performance of various monitoring methods for non-grain crop yields. This study also assesses both mass- and volume-based yield monitoring systems to provide precise evaluations of agricultural productivity. Integrating load cell technology enables precise mass flow rate measurements and cumulative weighing, offering an accurate representation of crop yields, and the incorporation of image-based analysis enhances the overall system accuracy by facilitating volumetric flow rate calculations and refined volume estimations. Mass flow methods, including weighing, force impact, and radiometric approaches, have demonstrated impressive results, with some measurement error levels below 5%. Volume flow methods, including paddle wheel and optical methodologies, yielded error levels below 3%. Signal processing and correction measures also play a crucial role in achieving accurate yield estimations. Moreover, the selection of sensing approach, sensor layout, and mounting significantly influence the performance of monitoring systems for specific crops.
This paper presents exact close form solutions of plastic limit loads of a clamped circular plate under uniformly distributed load with different loading radii. A unified yield criterion, which includes a family of piecewise linear yield criteria and the commonly adopted yield criteria such as the Tresca criterion and the maximum principal deviatoric stress criterion or the twin shear stress criterion that are its special cases, and the Mises criterion can be approximated by it, is employed in the analysis. The plastic limit loads, moment fields and velocity fields of the clamped circular plate are calculated based on the unified yield criterion. The influences of the yield criteria, the edge effects and the loading radius on the plastic limits of the clamped circular plate are investigated. Analytical results are calculated and compared. The exact close form solutions presented in this paper provide efficient approaches for obtaining plastic limit loads and the corresponding moments and velocities of the clamped circular plates. The previously derived solutions based on the Tresca and the Mises criteria are its special cases.
Data from purebred and crossbred cattle involving Holstein and the Local breed in Bangladesh were used to estimate the genetic effects on average daily milk yield and birth weight A total of 877 records on average daily milk yield for 4 types of breed groups and a total of 418 records on birth weight for 5 breed groups were analyzed. Two different methods were applied in this study; the least squares analysis of variance approach and the linear regression approach. Breed group effects were highly significant for both average daily milk yield and birth weight. The result showed that straightbred Holstein produced the highest milk yield and the 7/8 crosses ranked highest in birth weight For the two traits, the additive breed effect was highly significant, whereas the individual heterosis effect was not significant. Furthermore, this study showed a negative maternal heterosis for average daily milk yields and a positive maternal heterosis for birth weight Comparing the breed least squares means obtained from the linear regression approach revealed that straightbred Holstein produced the highest average milk yield and the 3/4 crosses were predicted to have the largest birth weight. It is indicated that the linear regression approach can adequately separate the genetic component of performance, estimate unknown crossbreeding parameters and predict unknown performance of crosses which are not include in the original data.
This review focuses on the nutritional effects from birth until age at first calving on growth, mammary developmental changes, and first-lactation milk yield in heifer calves. The advancement in the genetic potential and the nutritional requirements of the animals has hastened the growth rate. Genetic selection for high milk yield has suggested higher growth capacity and hence increasing nutritional inputs are required. Rapid rearing by feeding high energy or high concentrate diets not only reduces the age of sexual maturity but also lowers the time period of attaining the age of first calving. However, high energy diets may cause undesirable fat deposition thereby affecting future milk yield potential. Discrepancies exist whether overfed or overweight heifers at puberty can influence the mammary development and future milk yield potential and performance. The data on post-pubertal nutritional management suggested that body weight at calving and post-pubertal growth rate is important in first lactation milk yield. There is a continuous research need for strategic feeding that accelerates growth of dairy heifers without reduction in subsequent production. Nutritional management from birth, across puberty and during pregnancy is critical for mammary growth and for producing a successful cow. This review will mostly highlight studies carried out on dairy breeds and possible available opportunities to manipulate nutritional status from birth until age at first calving.

According to statistical data the past ten years, cultivation area and yield of radish are steadily decreasing. This phenomenon cause instability of radish's supply due to meteorological chage, even if radish's yield per unit area is increasing by cultivation technological development. These problems raise radish's price. So, we conducted study on meteorological factors for accuracy improvement of radish yield estimation. Panel analysis was used with two-way effect model considering group effect and time effect. As the result, we show that mixed effects model (fixed effect: group, random effects: time) was statistical significance. According to the model, a rise of one degree in the average air temperature on August will decrease radish's yield per unit area by $428kg{\cdot}10a^{-1}$ and that in the average air temperature on October will increase radish's yield per unit area by $438kg{\cdot}10a^{-1}$. The reason is that radish's growth will be easily influenced by meteorological condition of a high temperature on August and by meteorological condition of a low temperature on Octoboer.
In addition to lightweight and moldable characteristics, polymeric foams possess an excellent energy absorbing capability that can be utilize for a wide range of commercial applications, especially in the crashworthiness of the automobiles. The purpose of the present study is to develop experimental methodology to characterize the pressure dependent yield behavior of the energy absorbing polymeric foams. For the compression test in a triaxial stress sate, a specially designed device was placed in a hydraulic press to produce and control oil pressure. For the test material, the polyurethane foams of two different densities were used. The displacement of the specimen, the load subjected to the specimen, and oil pressure applied to the specimen were measured and controlled. Stress strain curves and yield stresses for the four different oil pressure were obtained. It was found from the present experiments that the polyurethane foams exhibited significant increases in yield stress with applied pressure or mean normal stress. Based on this observation, a yield criteria which included the effect of the stress invariant were established for the polymeric foams. The obtained experimental constants which constituted the pressure-dependent yield criterion were verified.

A process for the production of mannitol from fructose (5% to 25%) using Leuconostoc mesenteroides NRRL B-1149 was investigated. Fermentations were carried out In batch or fed-batch fermentations without aeration at 28$\^{C}$, pH 5.0. When 5% fructose was used In batch culture fermentation, the yield of mannitol was 78% of that expected theoretically. When the frurtose concentration was Increased to 10%, the yield dropped to 59.6% of the theoretical value. However, In the fed-batch culture, using 10% fructose, the yield was 81.9% of the theoretical value. In a 15% fruttose fed-batch culture, with 5% fructose being added initially and the other 10% fructose being added as a continuous supply the final yield was 83.7% of the theoretical yield. When 20% fructose was used In the same manner, the yield was 89.5% of theoretical yield.
