Research on Optimal Leveling Conditions of Roller Leveler in Thick Plate Mill (후판 롤교정기의 최적 교정조건 정립에 관한 연구)

  • The high grade thick plate is in great demand in the ship building industry and the construction industry. The main problems to produce the high grade plate are residual stress and flatness of plate. In the previous research, Finite Element Analysis(FEA) was conducted for cold roller leveler to understand the behaviors of cold roller leveler under different conditions of thickness, intermesh, and yield stress. In this study, a numerical model of roller leveler is developed and the calculated results of this model are compared with the FEA results to show the validity of the numerical model. The optimal leveling conditions to improve flatness of plate are suggested using this numerical model.

Influence of Working Conditions on the Spinnability of Cylindrical Cups of Aluminum Sheet Metal (알루미늄 원통컵의 스피닝 성형성에 영향미치는 작업조건 연구)

  • Many researchers have, nowadays, studied on spinning which can produce highly qualified products by CNC spinning machine equipped with hydraulic devices. The products have continuous metal flow which improves fatigue life, yield point, tensile strength and hardness. This study is to investigate the influence of various working conditions on the spinnability of cylindrical cups such as feed rate(ν), feed pitch(p), angle of roller holder(α), and the inclination angle of first roller path. Through experiments the feed rate of (0.4∼0.7) mm/rev was shown to give the drawing ratio of 2.5 when the angle of roller holder was 5°, However, by increasing the angle of roller holder from 5°to 20°, the range of feed rate which can produce deeper cups became wider and the spinnability was also improved. The optimum working conditions, for the maximum formability of aluminum sheet metal as well as dimensional accuracy of spun cups, are presented and discussed.

Optimization of Extraction of Astaxanthin from Portunus trituberculatus by Ionic Liquids (이온성 액체를 사용한 꽃게 껍질에서 아스타크산틴 추출 조건의 최적화)

  • Astaxanthin is one of the carotenoid with strong antioxidant. The conditions of extraction of astaxanthin from Portunus trituberculatus were optimized in this work. Six factors of conditions such as, extraction method, extraction solvent, ratio of solvent to raw material, temperature, and time, were investigated. For the increase of the extraction yield, ionic liquids were used as additives in the extraction solvent. The optimum extraction conditions were found: heat reflux extraction, Dichloromethane/methanol (25:75, v/v) as solvent, 1:30 of the ratio of solvent raw material, $80^{\circ}C$, 90 min, and ionic liquid as additive. As a result, 45.81 ${\mu}g/g$ of astaxanthin was extracted from waste.

Optimal Synthesis Conditions of Hydrotalcite (II) (히드로탈시트의 최적 합성조건 (II))

  • Hydrotalcite was prepared by reacting with sodium carbonate, magnesium hydroxide and aluminum chloride solutions in this study. The optimum synthesis conditions based on the yield of the product were established by applying Box-Wilson experimental design. It was found that the optimum synthesis conditions of hydrotalcite were as follows ; reacting temperature : 63~9$0^{\circ}C$, concentration of reactant solution : 18.20~19.82%, molar concentration ratio of two reactants [Mg(OH)$_2$] / (AICl$_3$.6$H_2O$) : 6.0, temperature of washing water : 29.0-34.4$^{\circ}C$, drying temperature : 56-77.6$^{\circ}C$. The physicochemical properties of hydrotalcite as medicine were studied by use of chemical analysis, bulk volume test and acid consuming capacity measurements.

  • Stable crystalline 1-Benzyl-4-aza-1-azonia-bicyclo[2.2.2]octane tribromide (BABOT), can be readily synthesized from the reaction of the corresponding bromide with $HNO_3$ and aqueous KBr. Selective Oxidation of a variety of dialkyl and alkyl Aryl sulfides to the corresponding sulfoxides in high yield was achieved by this reagent in solution ($CH_3CN/H_2O$) and solvent free conditions. The reaction proceeds under neutral and mild conditions and can be carried out easily at room temperature with regeneration of BABOT. In this method purification of products is straightforward and no over oxidation to sulfone was noted.

  • 1,5-Diacetyl-3,7-dinitro-l,3,5,7-tetraazacyclooctane (DADN) is a key intermediate in the preparation of octahydro-1,3,5,7-tetranitro-1,3,5,7-tetrazocine (HMX), one of the most powerful high-melting explosives. The present investigation focuses on nitrolysis of DADN to HMX by developing a new nitrolysis process involving the use of nitric acid catalyzed by Silica Sulfuric Acid (SSA). In order to optimize the process parameters for synthesis of HMX to obtain higher yield and purity, a study was carried out with variation of some parametric conditions like time, mole ratio of SSA and nitric. This method gave us green and mild conditions for nitration reaction.

  • Supercritical Carbon Dioxide was evaluated and optimized for the enrichment and fractionation of the essential oil and the bitter principles of hops, both of which contribute to the flavor of beer, Selected conditions of extraction(pressure, temperature and co-solvent) influenced the composition, the olfactory results and the colour of the extract. Optimal extraction conditions were 30 min, 1800 psia and $ >45^{\circ}C $ with co-solvent. Under these conditions, yield was 65% from brewer's yeast. The bittering substances from brewer's yeasts almost were removed.

Optimization of Solid-State Fermentation for Improved Conidia Production of Beauveria bassiana as a Mycoinsecticide

  • The production of conidia of entomopathogenic Beauveria bassiana by solid-state fermentation was studied for the development of a biocontrol agent against aphid Myzus persicae. The optimal conditions for conidia production on polished white rice were 40% moisture content, $25^{\circ}C$ culture temperature, 2-day-old seeding culture grown in 3% corn meal, 2% rice bran, 2% corn steep powder medium, initial conidia concentration of $10^7$ conidia/g in the wet rice, 10% inoculum size, and use of a polyethylene bag as a container. The polyethylene bag containing inoculated rice was hand-shaken every 12 hr during fermentation. Using optimal conditions, the maximum conidia production obtained was 4.05 g conidia/100 g dry rice after 14 days of cultivation, a rate 2.83 times higher than conidia yield of pre-optimization.

Optimal Conditions for Hydrotalcite Synthesis (히드로탈시트의 최적 합성조건)

  • Hydrotalcite was prepared by reacting with sodium carbonate, magnesium oxide and aluminum sulfate solutions in this study. The optimum synthesis conditions based on the yield of the product were established by applying Box-Wilson experimental design. It was found that the optimum synthesis conditions of hydrotalcite were as follows; reacting temperature : 48~63$^{\circ}C$, concentration of reactant solution : about 20%, molar concentration ratio of two reactants [MgO]/[Al. sulfate] ; 7.35~8.1, temperature of washing water : 34.4~37.4$^{\circ}C$, drying temperature : 74~81.5$^{\circ}C$. The physicochemical properties of hydrotalcite as medicine were studied by use of chemical analysis, D.S.C. thermogram, bulk volume test and acid consuming capacity measurements.

Stereoselective Palladium Catalyzed Cyclizations of Enediyne Compounds

  • Hydropalladium carboxylates, formed from π-allylpalladium chloride dimer plus carboxylic acids, have been shown to catalyze cyclization of structurally diverse enediynes to form the corresponding six- or five-membered rings depending upon the reaction conditions. Some enediynes having an Oxygen linker in an appropriate position under the similar condition yielded the corresponding cyclopropanation products in highly stereoselective manner. A study using deuterated formic acid has proven that the alkylpalladium intermediates formed in our conditions were reduced by the pendant formate ligand. The dienediyne 10 yielded only the tricyclic product 12 in 67% yield, although it was expected to frrm the cyclic product 11. All these cyclizations seemed to occur via the corresponding alkylpalladium intermediates I. which could proceed to the corresponding cyclic products depending on the reaction conditions and the substrates. The study using ceuterated formic acid could provide an important information to understand the present cyclization mechanism. Overall the present study could play an important role in developing new synthetic methodologies for constructing complex polycyclic compounds.
