스프링형 블랭크홀더 시스템의 디프드로잉 가공에서 다이면 윤활효과에 관한 연구 (A study on the effect of die lubrication in deep drawing process with spring type blankholder system)

  • The purpose of this paper is to obtain the effect of die lubrication in deep drawing process. The flange wrinkling is analysed by a moment equilibrium method in order to apply the optimum blankholding force to the blank. The experiment has been carried out with the high stiffness spring-type blankholder system. As the result, blankholding pressure is determined in terms of variables in deep drawing process. In the range of frictional coefficient which has been found in this experiment, there was a little difference in required blankholding force but a great difference in drawing force. It was found that the stiffness of blankholder was the major factor which influences on flange wrinkling in spring-type blankholder system.

  • This paper presents possible defects when welded blank hydroforming and focus on wrinkling, and the die design to prevent this defect An explicit finite element code, PAM-STAMP, is used to simulate welded blank hydroforming process. The numerical results are compared to the experimental results in the aspect of deformed shape. An automobile subframe is taken as an example to carry out finite element analysis.

  • The wrinkling in the electromagnetic tube compression with a mandrel is remarkably smaller than that of the process without it. To analyze this phenomenon, the critical forming parameters such as the ratio of the clearance to the shell radius, the ratio of the thickness to the shell radius, and the ratio of the applied pressure to the standard pressure are introduced tp consider the effect of the mandrel, in addition to those of the thickness of shell and applied loads. The amplification ratio is also used to observe the magnitude of amplification. The results obtained by 2-D finite element method show that the initial imperfection embedded in the radius of cylindrical shell is the dominant factor to determine the final shape of the tube compression, and that the amplification ratio tends to have smaller values with the smaller clearance ratio and also with the larger thickness and pressure ratios.

  • A criterion which predicts wrinkle initiation on workpiece in groove rolling process based on finite element analysis is proposed. Fundamental idea considered in the criterion is using the difference between flat rolling which don't cause wrinkling at all and groove rolling which usually accompanies it. The proposed criterion assumes that irregular distribution of shear strain on workpiece during groove rolling is attributable to the initiation of wrinkling. The proposed criterion has been applied to roughing train in the rod mill of SEAH BESTEEL Inc. A new design of 2nd pass (square roll groove) was suggested, machined and applied. Results reveal that the proposed criterion could point out the location of wrinkle initiation and could reduce onset of wrinkle.

  • A simple method of on-line stiffness measurement using the wrinkling behavior of paper web between two rollers was presented. The theory and the equation were presented, and lab and mill tests were executed. We called the stiffness measured by Taber tester as 'Taber stiffness', and by tension wrinkling measurement as 'wrinkle stiffness', respectively. Lab experimental results showed Taber and wrinkle stiffness are almost equivalent. In the mill experiment, we could measure the stiffness in the wet state and in the dry state. The dry wrinkle stiffness was close to the taber stiffness, but the wet wrinkle stiffness was much lower than the corresponding taber stiffness.

  • The wrinkling in the flange and wall of a part is a predominent failure mode in stamping of sheet metal parts. In many cases this wrinkling may be eliminated by appropriate control of the blank holding forco(BHF), but BHF affects the draw depth. Gotoh had studied the wrinkles under 0.02mm in height. In general, the height of wrinkles could be limited under 0.2mm practically. Therefore small BHP can be allowed so that the depth of drawing could be increased. Authors research the variation of the wrinkles in flange in the course of cup drawing by using aluminium alloy Al050 and A5052.

  • In sheet metal forming process, drawing is typical process. And the key factor of drawing is blank holding force (BHF) A low BHF can cause wrinkling, whereas a high BHF can cause fracture during a deep drawing process. Thus, formability can be influenced by application appropriate BHF. In this study, a variable blank holding force (VBHF) is applied to extend the forming limit by avoiding both wrinkling and fracture. To determine VBHF in drawing process, numerical simulations and statistical analysis are carried out using commercial FEM software.

  • In this paper, a three-dimensional part model is constructed for the finite element analysis of hemming models where hemming defects frequently occur. The roller path is modeled as the boundary condition with the one-dimensional beam element and the revolute joint model. With the constructed part model and the roller movement, a finite element analysis has been pursued in order to identify the hemming load and hemming defects such as wrinkling in the flange region. The analysis result shows that the maximum hemming load occurs in the intake situation while oscillatory behavior of the load is found especially when hemming the curved model because of wrinkle generation. This paper compares the amplitude and the period of wrinkle between the analysis result and the experiment, which shows good agreement with each other.

  • The thermoelastic behaviors of an inflatable fabric membrane structure for use in a stratospheric airship envelope are experimentally and numerically investigated. Mechanical tensile properties of the membrane material at room, high, and low temperatures are measured using an $Instron^{(R)}$ universal testing machine and an $Instron^{(R)}$ thermal chamber. To characterize the nonlinear behavior of the inflated membrane structure due to wrinkling, the bending behavior of an inflated cylindrical boom made of a fabric membrane is observed at various pressure levels. Moreover, the envelope of a stratospheric airship is numerically modeled based on the thermoelastic properties of the fabric membrane obtained from experimental data, and the wrinkled deformed shape induced by a thermal load is analyzed.

  • Recently, lightweight material is attracting attention as a solution to the problem of fuel efficiency and increasing the need for development. CFRP has been attracting attention as lightweight materials for automobile because it has a high specific stiffness and specific strength compared to steel material. CFRP have a wide range of mechanical properties depending on the laminate condition. In this paper, study on the forming analysis of double-dome model was performed considering CFRP prepreg laminate condition and coefficient of friction. After forming analysis, the result has compared with wrinkling area and vertical strain of fiber to the laminated condition. And then compared with inflow of blank to the laminate condition. Through this paper, we propose the forming analysis methods of CFRP material.
