Retained wooden foreign bodies following penetrating trauma are a difficult diagnostic problem. However, penetrating wooden foreign bodies of head and neck have the potential for misinterpretation or failure to detect such foreign bodies on CT. Given the likelihood that such a miss will result in an abscess or neurovascular injury, we present the method with higher window settings, they had a higher attenuation with a unique striated internal architecture and different Hounsfield numbers readily differentiate air and non-air hypodense material such as fat, or possibly wood. Being aware of the potential appearance of wood, we may also find CT useful in excluding small retained fragments in postoperative patients with persistent symptoms. This article presents two cases in which wooden foreign bodies of head and neck were present with CT evaluation.

Korean traditional houses have been developed in sympathy with natural environment and formed comfortable indoor condition by properly using surrounding natural resources including building layout, space construction and material our traditional wooden windows adjusting ambient temperature and humidity have both the functions of window and door, although they are clearly divided in the West. While window paper is attached from the outside in China and Japan, it is attached from the inside in Korea. The opening and closing mode of windows is similar and their dimensions are shown not to he standardized but diverse in terms of the characteristic of wooden furniture and that of components placed between columns. Thus this study is to look into the performance of band-lattice door of a typical traditional one by observing changes in sound absorption characteristics according to difference in thickness and finishing method of window paper and those in sound absorption characteristics with the changed thickness of air layer in traditional windows and doors.
The Korean traditional architecture has developed by adapting to the natural environment, and has successfully created a comfortable indoor settings by using the surrounding natural resources. This is reflected in the building layout, space design and even materials. Our traditional wooden windows adjusting ambient temperature and humidity have both the functions of window and door, although they are clearly divided in the West. The opening and closing method of our traditional windows is similar and their dimensions are shown not to be standardized but diverse in terms of the characteristic of wooden furniture and that of components placed between columns. Thus this study aims to research the sound insulation and absorption performance of traditional windows to be varied with thickness, finishing method of window paper and thickness of air layer. Despite increase of the thickness of window paper, sound absorption was reduced, and the same result was shown when both sides of the structure were finished with thick window paper. The sound insulation performance of the windows could be evaluated to be inappropriate with $R_w$ 0 ~ $R_w$ 14.

The proposal defines a Do It Yourself system that radically changes the traditional concept of window. it is based on a D.I.Y. system that allows the users to fully customize its windows according to his needs, combining a wood frame with different elements. At the same time, it is preserving the basic function of light and ventilation and defining a new aesthetic code. Despite the restriction of size and shape, the user can choose among many different elements to increase the space efficiency he needs and to give a more enjoyable perspective to the window both in and out door. Also, All the elements are standard and they can be mass-produced according to specific market needs. Therefore, the window of the future will not be just a thin membrane in between the inside and the outside, but it will also play an important "identification role. According to each individual pick, these new windows will help to give identify to anonymous metropolitan areas and to the people living within them.

This study is to clarify the form of window and door of medieval times house which are no longer in existence, by comparative analysis between literature materials and architectural remains of united Silla and Goryo period. Particularly the window and door form change process of was analyzed, in connection with the change of term which are recorded in literature material. The form and the composition of window and door are the elements which determine the elevation design of architecture and concerned with interior environment. Therefore this study is significant in the sense that it could be used as base data for the study on the reconstruction and interior space of medieval times house. There were ho (戶) and moon (門) as door, and chang (窓) for lighting and ventilation as window. Among these, the window can be divided into fixed and openable. There were two kind of fixed window. One is called chang (窓), and it was covered by silk or paper for lighting. The other is called ham (檻), it was the form of vertical bar window and lighting and ventilation was available. And there were two kind of openable window. One is called ho (戶), which had wooden plate window leaves. And the other is called changho (窓戶), lighting was available in the condition of closing.
Recently, New Han-ok is in prevail because it has many good qualities as a dwelling. But the New Han-ok dwellers' needs and satisfaction ratio on their houses are not investigated yet. So, surveys on satisfaction ratio for New Han-ok were carried out to know New Han-ok's existing conditions and inhabitant's responses on New Han-ok dwellings. Followings are results. 1) Dwellers response that it is cool in summer and it is cold in winter. So, design and construction method against cold is needed for New Han-ok. 2) Window is the most picking element of New Han-ok for house improvement. 3) Window opening is main control method for cooling in summer. Warming sources in winter are various such as electricity, gas, oil, wood, etc. 4) PVC window structure and glasses were used for New Han-ok's window system as well as wooden window structure and Han-gi. 5) Interviewees are generally satisfied with New Han-ok's exterior view and inner spaces. Almost no humidifier is used. These results could be used for improvement of Han-ok and basic material for New Han-ok design.

The tightness of windows have devoted to the improvement of thermal insulation and energy saving in buildings. But it is known that this tightness causes some side effects such as low ventilation, low capacity to humidity and temperature control and these are not profitable for inhabitants. To act on these side effects, Korean traditional windows which are composed of Han-Ji(Koreand traditional paper) and Chang-Sal(Korean traditional wooden frame) have been studied to get a reasonable solutions for these problems. In this study, to compare the thermal and humidity control performance of current window(12 mm pair) and Korean traditional windows, frames which are made of existing window and Korean traditional windows are adapted to scale model house and then humidity and temperature of in and out of scale model house are measured and analysed. The results of this study are followings ; 1) When Korean traditional window charges 20cm(1/8 of total window area) from total window area, Han-Ji window has higher thermal insulation than that of existing window in daytime. There is the most big thermal difference when double faced with double-ply Han-Ji window is placed to mock-up house. In night-time, the temperature difference is very small so this means that Korean traditional window is good to cover direct sunlight in daytime and reduce the temperature of balcony. One faced with one-ply han-Ji window has the best humidity penetration performance among three type of Korean traditional windows. 2) When Korean window area enlarged to 40cm(1/4 of total window area), the function of 40cm width Han-Ji window is higher than that of 20cm's. This means that enlargement of Han-Ji window cover direct sunlight more and is more efficient in humidity penetration.
The Palaces of Chosen dynasty in Seoul had lost its original features. The external appearance of the buildings that remains in palace nowadays, have got former conditions, but its enteriors are reconstructed or removed So we have a little knowledge of interiors of palace buildings, expecially of the door and window system. To clear up ambiguity of what kinds of door are selected, and sorts of using methods are prevailed, we must persuit from the latest building to the older building, and compare with documents. For that purpose the Chukchodang of Toksu palace is selected, which reconstructed in 1904, and compared with the document published in 1906. The consequence of investigation is that the palace buildings were adopted double or triple window system, and the main room have buffer zones, such as corridors or small rooms. And the main rooms were facing with wall paper, so metal fittings are hidden and wooden surfaces are hardly expose for the purpose of amenity.
Infrared (IR) thermography which is the technique for detecting invisible infrared light emitted by objects due to their surface thermal condition and for producing an image of the light has been applied in various field without damaging the objects. It also could be used indirectly to examine the inside of an object. In this study, insulation property of wooden house in Korea Forest Research Institute (KFRI) was evaluated with according to "Thermal performance of building - Quantitative detection of thermal irregularities in building envelopes - infrared method (KS F 2829)". This method uses "Temperature Difference Ratio (TDR)" between outdoor wall surface and indoor wall surface of wooden building for evaluating its thermal performance. The thermal performance of a room on the 2nd floor of the wooden house was focused in this study and IR thermography on the indoor and outdoor surface of the house was captured by IR camera. Heat loss from the corner and the window of the wooden house as well as wall of the house was quantitatively evaluated and the invisible heat loss in the wall was detected. It is expected that the results from this study could contribute to improve the wooden building energy efficiency.
