This study aimed to identify predictors of acculturation types among marriage migrant women at the individual and dominant society levels. To accomplish this goal, we recruited marriage migrant women from China and Vietnam, classified their acculturation types according to their scores on acculturation attitudes, and performed multinomial logistic regression on acculturation types by entering marriage migrant women's individual and dominant society level factors as covariates based on previous research. The results showed that most of the participants were classified under integration(N=376), followed by assimilation(N=66), separation(N=60) and marginalization(N=48). Lower household income, lower sense of mastery, weaker ethnic identity and lower social support predicted assimilation as compared to integration. Less education, higher household income, weaker ethnic identity, lower family satisfaction and lower social support predicted separation as compared to integration. Finally, as compared to integration, marginalization was predicted by lower sense of mastery, lower ethnic identity and lower social support. This study expands the current scholarship on acculturation by examining acculturation as an indicator of the psychosocial adaptation of immigrants and by identifying factors that predict specific acculturation types among marriage migrant women.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop a scale to evaluate parenting stress of international marriage immigrant women from Vietnam and the Philippines. Methods: The concept of parenting stress of international marriage immigrant women was analysed with a hybrid model. Data were collected from 273 international marriage immigrant women from Vietnam and the Philippines who were raising their children aged 1 to 6 years. These collected data were subjected to exploratory factor analysis, multitrait/multi-item matrix assessment, Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, and Cronbach's alpha internal consistency measurement. Results: The final instrument consisted of 28 items. The following six factors were extracted by exploratory factor analysis: 'insufficiency of parenting support system', 'role burden of mothers', 'maladjustment of children', 'confusion of parenting methods due to cultural differences', 'unskilled Korean communication', and 'ordinary difficulties'. Construct validity (factor analysis, convergent validity, and discriminant validity) and criterion-related validity were confirmed. Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ value of total items was .92(95% CI .91-.94). Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of values for these factors ranged from .76 to .85. Conclusion: The parenting stress scale for international marriage immigrant women is a valid and reliable tool.
Purpose: This study was conducted in order to identify and describe the experiences of health care during pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum period for Vietnamese marriage immigrants. Methods: The participants were 15 Vietnamese married immigrant women who became pregnant and gave birth within the last five years. Data were collected by in-depth interview with Vietnamese women. Data were analyzed using Colaizzi's method of phenomenology. Results: Six theme clusters were extracted as follows: 'being left with no other option in loneliness and longing filled in a limited life', 'continued trials and errors amidst frustration and fear', 'silently following orders despite the quality of medical services that change with each medical care provider', 'compromise by selecting amidst confusion between the Korean way and the way at home', 'depending on family, who is the communication channel, but becoming disappointed', and 'finding the reason for existence and struggling by herself to become a mother amidst doubled confusion'. Conclusion: A program for effective empowerment of Vietnamese immigrant women should be developed. In addition multicultural family centered programs should be developed with emphasis on acceptance of women's culture, respect for her culture, and supports. In this paper, we study on an 'e-Atlas of Society & Culture(e-ASC)', to develop and implement educational courseware for marriage immigrant women, to adapt Korean society. The 'e-ASC' can help cultural adaptation, such as the understanding of Korean people's common values and behaviors and can likewise provide opportunities to contribute to Korean society, for marriage immigrant women living in Korea. E-cultural map is a useful tool for providing educational experiences and sharing a sociocultural homogeneity, using three dimensional space, for both immigrants and residents. The 'e-Atlas of Society & Culture', suggested in this paper, using the notion of an E-cultural map, has a strong point. That is to say, the immigrants have contextual limitations about Korea and Korean culture, caused by some particular events in their motherland. This atlas provides an opportunity to overcome this contextual limitations and to help understand and adapt to Korean society for these immigrants. This 'e-Atlas of Society & Culture' can be an efficient educational tool for immigrants and can help marriage immigrant women understand and adapt Korean social and cultural phenomena. They might have contextual limitations about these phenomena in their motherland.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the experiential meaning of child-rearing for marriage immigrant women in Korea in the context of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. Methods: Using the hermeneutic descriptive phenomenology framework developed by Colaizzi, 10 marriage immigrant women rearing preschool and school-age children were invited through purposive and snowball sampling from two multicultural support centers in Korea. The participants were rearing one or two children, and their original nationalities were Vietnamese, Japanese, Cambodian, and Chinese. Individual in-depth, face-to-face, semi-structured interviews were conducted from September 1 to November 30, 2021. We extracted significant statements from the transcripts, transformed these into abstract formulations, and organized them into theme clusters and themes to authentically capture the essence of the participants' subjective experiences. Results: Four theme clusters with 14 themes were derived. The four theme clusters identified were "navigating child healthcare alone," "guilt for not providing a social experience," "worry about media-dependent parenting," and "feelings of incompleteness and exclusion." This study explored the perspectives of mothers raising children as marriage migrant women who experienced physical and emotional health crises due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Conclusion: The findings underscore that marriage immigrant women encountered heightened challenges in managing their children's health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic due to linguistic and cultural barriers limiting access to healthcare and information. Additionally, these women experienced considerable emotional stress from perceived inadequacies in providing a holistic social and developmental environment for their children under extensive social restrictions.
Purpose: This study was conducted to survey female Vietnamese marriage immigrants' life stress and to analyze factors influencing their life stress and coping strategies. Methods: As descriptive correlation research, this study conducted a survey with 182 conveniently sampled subjects. Data were collected in June, 2015, and analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The subjects' life stress levels were above average, and significantly varied according to their health, and economic status. Stress coping strategies used by the subjects included assistance seeking, problem avoidance, wishful thinking, problem solving, and emotional alleviation in the order of frequency. As a result of the stepwise multiple regression, economic level, economic activity, and health status were found to be the most significant factors influencing the subjects' life stress, and these variables explained 45.1% of the variation in life stress. Conclusion: Female marriage immigrants were experiencing above-average life stress, and they were coping with it mainly in terms of assistance seeking or problem avoidance. In order to mitigate their stress, therefore, it is necessary to provide extended employment opportunities and economic activities for them so that they can cultivate their abilities in health management.

The purpose of this study was to explore how married female immigrants adjust to their lives in Korea. A total of 15 women from three different countries participated in the study. The major issues that these women faced included communication breakdowns with their husband and other family members, financial problems as well as problems with raising children in a different culture. The findings showed that such problems were usually rooted in a lack of Korean cultural knowledge and skills. Additionally, the inaccurate use of the language by married female immigrants who have lived in Korea for longer than six months was often fossilized. For instance, because they usually learned the language in a local dialect, it took them longer to distinguish the dialect from standard Korean. The results found that married female immigrants who received both Korean lessons and family life education instructions overcame their culture shock and adapted to Korean culture more easily than those who did not receive such instructions.
''The King's Daughters' is referring to the approximately 900 young French women who immigrated to New France between 1663 and 1673. This program was sponsored by Louis XIV. The program was planned to increase New France's population both by encouraging the female immigrants to settle there and by promoting marriages, family formations and the births of children. Marguerite Bourgeoys was the first person to use the expression called as 'filles du roi' in her writings. She was the French foundress of the Congregation of Notre Dame of Montreal in the colony of New France which is now part of Quebec. After agreeing to marry, the couple took a marriage contract directly in front of a notary and the wedding ceremony had generally been held within possible rapid time. The processes of the choice of husband and the marriage would officially be held in the church. By the year 1672, the population of New France had risen to 6,700 from 3,200 in 1663. Although the Filles du Roi represent only 8% of the total immigrants to Canada under the French regime, they account for nearly half of the women who immigrated to Canada in the colony's 150-year history. 'King's Daughters' must be correctly assessed as 'Mother of Quebec' and 'Propagator of the French language' in the history.
This study aimed to explore the effect of the intimacy with social workers on the use of social welfare services of marriage-based female immigrants. Also, this study verified the effect of the quantity of the welfare service-related information as a mediated variable on the use of social welfare services. For this purpose, this study collected data from a total of 304 immigrant women married to Korean men living in City of Busan, City of Ulsan, and South Gyeongsang Province, and the data was analysed by SPSS 21. As the result of study, the intimacy with social workers had significant influences on the use of social welfare services of the married immigrant women. The results also showed that the intimacy with social workers contributed to the quantity of the welfare service-related information. Based on these results, implications of the important roles of social workers and the directions of their effective roles for the marriage based female immigrants to use the social welfare services were suggested.
