The purpose of this study is to analyze the school dietitian's cognition, practical use of environment-friendly agricultural products to provide fundamental information for the qualitative improvement in the school food service. The results of the study are as follows: 1. It was clearly recognized that the subsidy for the school food service is generally insufficient, the amount of additional appropriate subsidy for the school food service was different according to type of school and roughly 300~600 won in each of foods needs to be supported. 2. The environment-friendly agricultural products that were often used in the school food service were vegetables and grains. 3. In the analysis of cognition and problems toward using environment-friendly agricultural products, the dietitians recognized that environment-friendly agricultural products should be appropriately used. A reason that environment-friendly agricultural products were better than general agricultural products was composed of a use of less additive, good ingredient, and good outer condition. 4. In the analysis of countermeasure on increasing environment-friendly agricultural products in the school meal service, the response to that more additional subsidy was necessary for the school food service. The highest and the most positive effects after using environment-friendly agricultural products were students' health improvement and improvement in parents' satisfaction with the school food service.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a relatively common condition of childhood onset and is of significant educational and social concern in elementary school. Investigating the determinants of teachers' attitudes and behavior and their relative importance is crucial for improving teaching practices and initial teacher education for effective inclusion of ADHD children. Based on two hundred and twenty seven survey responses from elementary school teachers, having experienced in dealing with ADHD students, this paper examines the age, gender, career and training-hours effects on the knowledge, attitude, stress and inclusive education involving ADHD children. The regression analysis shows that the gender influences the level of stress and that the training hours has some impact on the knowledge about ADHD at 5% significance level. However, the number of ADHD children experienced, age, gender, career and training-hours were identified as the non-significant predictors of teaching behavior in relation to ADHD children. As a conclusion, a brief discussion concerning the critical needs of elementary school teachers is also presented.
This study examined the relationships sleep habits, daytime sleepiness, and problem behaviors. A cross-sectional survey design was used. Participants were 276 adolescents. Sleep habits, daytime sleepiness and problem behavior were measured by Adolescent Sleep Hygiene Scale (ASHS), Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS), and Korea-Youth Self Report (K-YSR), respectively. Data were collected from July to August, 2014 using self-reported questionnaires. Participants were middle school students, perceived their sleep time as enough and their sleep quality as good, have no problem behavior during sleep, and have no caffeinated drink for last a week were more likely to have higher score of sleep hygiene. Sleep habits score was associated negatively with daytime sleepiness and problem behaviors. Sleep impacts on physical growth, behavior, and emotional development of adolescent. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a sleep enhancement program for the good sleep habits of the adolescents, and to make efforts at home and school.
Purpose: This study investigated the efficacy of task-related circuit training aimed at improving balance in individuals discharged from rehabilitation facilities following a stroke. Methods: We recruited 12 stroke patients (34-66 years of age) to participate in a task-related circuit training program. Baseline assessment included a history of stroke and an assessment using the Mini-Mental State Examination Korea (MMSE-K). After a baseline assessment, follow-up assessments were administered pre- and post-training. These included Berg Balance Scale (BBS), Functional Reach Test (FRT), and the Time Up & Go Test (TUG). Physiotherapists trained study subjects under the one-to-one supervision of students from the department of physical therapy. Circuit class study participants attended 90-minute treatment sessions, one day a week for 12 weeks (from September to December 2008). The program consisted of a light warm-up period (10 min), physical exercises for improving balance (20 min), tasks focused on improving balance (50 min) and a cool-down period (10 min). Results: Scores for the BBS assessment increased significantly (from 43.2 to 49.7) after the training (p<0.05). Reach distance on the FRT increased substantially (from 27.7 cm to 47.0 cm), although the improvement was not significant (p>0.05). The average time on the TUG test decreased significantly (from 23.7 sec to 19.5 sec) after the training (p<0.05). Conclusion: The task-related circuit training program improved the balance and mobility of subjects, indicating that such a group program is useful for stroke patients who are discharged from the hospital. More such task-related programs set in a community environment should be developed.

The purpose of this study was to study real body size and ideal body shape by consoidering the degree of satisfaction at body part and understanding body size by the degree of leanness/obesity. The subjects in this study were 201 female college students aged from 18 to 26. Boby measurements and survey were taken from May to June, 1991 and 1992. Data were analyzed by correlation analysis, regression analysis, cluster analysis, ANOVA, discriminant analysis and crosstabulation analysis. The results were as follows ; 1. The subjects tended to be satisfied with long and slim limbs, slim trunk, and prefered to be tall in height and light in weight. Also the consciousness about thickness was keener than that about length of the body. 2. The subjects were conscious that lower body was more obese than and upper body. Also, the consciousness of whole body had higher correlation with that of upper body than lower body. 3. The subjects were classified into 4 clusters each consisting 23, 87. 68, 23 by cluster analysis of 21 variables after a transformation of measurements to eliminate body size factor. This classification was considered to express how lean or how obese a human body appears. 4. According to the degree of leanness/obesity from lean tendency group I to obese tendency group IV, characteristics of the body shape were changed as follows ; height lower, limbs shorter, trunk and limbs thicker and weight heavier. 5. The subjects of lean tendency group I were more satisfied with their body than those of obese tendency group IV. 6. The subjects, although they were not judged to be obese by somatometric measurements, felt themselves obese. Also, they hoped to be slimmer at lower body than upper body.
This study was performed to investigate the validity of food photographs for estimating individuals' dietary intakes and compare it with other dietary assessment methods. Subjects were 7 professors, 2 researchers, 12 dietitian and 16 graduate students majoring in food and nutrition. Among the subjects, 20 subjects had research experiences in the dietary intake survey more than one year while 17 had not. Each subject estimated 50 food portions displayed in computer monitor by comparing with standard food photographs, which were weighed portions of 28 foods from typical Korean diet. No significant differences between the estimated value and the weighed value of 17 (34%) food portions were shown in research-experienced group and those of 14 (28%) food portions were shown in no-researchexperienced group. 24-hour recall was the most frequently-used method for dietary assessment followed by in the order of food frequency questionnaire, dietary record, diet history and weighing method. After estimating food portions by photographs, 30 subjects (81%) were willing to use the method for dietary assessment because of its convenience and easy communication between researcher and subject. This study suggests that digital photography method would be a useful and convenient new instrument for estimating individuals' dietary intake. However, it is necessary to create standard database for food portions and carry out systematic education for food estimation in order to apply this method in the fields.

The increasing cross-border mobility of dental school or dental hygiene students, educators, practitioners, programs and providers takes challenges for existing national quality assurance and accreditation frameworks and bodies, as well as for the systems for recognizing foreign qualifications. The new dental hygiene accreditation system was introduced to encourage the improvement of dental hygiene programs, to ensure the quality of education and, most of all, to establish an internationally compatible system of evaluation and accreditation. The accreditation procedure takes 1 year to complete. The result of the accreditation is released after evaluation via self-study report, site visit, preliminary draft report, responses from the institution and the results from the conciliation and review committees. The result from the accreditation procedure is either 'accreditation' or 'no accreditation'. Accredited schools receive one of several statuses following the evaluation. These are next general review, interim report and interim visit or suspension. Dental healthcare quality is not improved instantaneously, but instead gradually through continuous communication within the dental field. For this accreditation system to be successful, the following are essential: the accreditation agency should adopt hygiene education accreditation; it needs to become financially independent and managed efficiently; the autonomy and regulations surrounding the system need to be balanced; the professionalism of the system is ensured; and the dental field which includes not only dental program, but also hygiene program, needs to play an active role in the operation of the system.
In the age of the three Kingdoms, Silla, Kokuryu and Baekjae were built Confucian Shrine (Kukhak or Taehak) after BC 2-4 century Confucism propagated from China. It means 1600years' history of Saugc-Zeuhn Rites of an Imperial ceremony to honor Confucius in Korean peninsula. For Chosen dynasty age passed by Koryo dynasty carried out mainly Confucian policy, in Sungkyunhwan of Mun-Hyo (Confucian Shrine) traditional rites in memory of Confucius are observed twice a year in spring and autumn for 600 years of the 112 memories Tablets to Confucius and the other famous Confucius scholars. (his disciples and Korean Confucian scholars) Wine, food, and silk are offered, and incense burnt before the tablets of confucius and the other scholars while traditional music is played and ceremonial dances performed. Traditional rites are observed primarily for the purpose of reminding students and other attendats of the teaching of Confucius. It is to have got it firmly into young Korean head that humanim, family, courtesy, order modesty and practical morality are more important than any thing else. And also now we need to reappraise, fundermently recognize rehabilitute and transmission the traditional foods Korean sacrifical rituals culture by Korean characteristics culture, Through the historical background we can recognize how much the Confucius thought and education effect deeply Korean sociaty even upto now to Korean popular life. At the same time confucism became fixed to Korean traditional thought and culture. Specially Sauge-Zeuhm Rites is based on Korean sacrificial rituals culture and Korean dietary life generally through this study we can see and presume the changes and transmmision of foods and cookey methods from BC ages.
Over the years, the types of media and media usage patterns have rapidly changed and communication channels in society have diversified. The courses in the universities on "media" have accordingly been altered to adapt to these changes. To investigate the ways in which the higher learning institutions in Korea have adapted to the changes in the media environment, this study analyzed the curriculum provided by the communication/media departments in the areas of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. For the curricula analysis, names of the course soffered at the selected universitie swere analyzed; then keywords were extracted from morphological analysis of thes enames. Also, to investigate the changes over time, the courses offered in the years 2008 and 2017 were selected. The network analysis was done by using Netminer; the shape, main components, and major nodes of the network were compared. The results showed that firstly, overall shape of network from 2008 and 2017 looked similar. Due to the existence of concentrations within the major, the overall shape of the network showed several independent components, rather than one network. However, the analysis revealed differences in major nodes in the 2008 case from 2017. In the 2008 case, 'programming,' 'media,' 'introduction' among others were the major nodes; in 2017, 'editing' was the most important node. This signifies that in 2017, the curricula in the selected universities emphasized more practical and technical media education. In other words, the universities have adapted to the changing environments by including new topics, paying more attention to video media, and providing students with more direct field experiences.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of community oral hygiene program on oral hygiene practice behavior in children. Methods: Oral hygiene promotion program was performed in 23 community child centers in Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggido. The study analyzed the effect of community oral hygiene promotion programs on the oral hygiene practice behavior in children from September to December, 2014. The trained dental hygienists in 23 public health centers and dental hygiene students participated in the oral hygiene promotion program for oral health examination and education for the children. The contents of the program was standardized and instructed to the team members. The individual improvement in children oral hygiene practice was assessed using PHP(patient hygiene performance) index score. Data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 program. Results: After the program, children who stopped eating confectioneries and those eating once a day increased to 32.12% and 14.24%, respectively. Those eating more than four times a day were still high(32.44%), but it was a lower rate than before the program (p<0.001). The rate of toothbrushing of more than 2 to 3 times a day was 82.75% and it was higher than before the education (p<0.001). The knowledge level of children increased from 18.83% to 66.30%. The oral hygiene practice performance in children was highly improved. Conclusions: The four months duration of oral hygiene program remarkably improved the oral hygiene practice in the children. So the community health centers and welfare centers must cooperate and improve the children oral health promotion by developing the oral health promotion program.
