젊은여성에서 8주간의 aerobic dance 훈련이 체구성, 심폐기능, 혈중 콜레스테롤 농도에 미치는 효과 (Effect of 8 weekas aerobic dance training on the body composition, cardiopulmonary function and blood cholesterol concentration in young women)

  • To evaluate training effect, aerobic dance was performed by eight female collegestudents for 8 weeks. Body composition, cardiopulmonary function at rest and during maximal exercise, blood cholesterol concentration at rest were determined before and after 8weeks of aerobic dance training. Maximal exercise was performed on the treadmill according of Bruce protocol. Pre to post training differences were evaluated. The results obtained were as follows : 1. After the training, skinfold thickness and total body fat decreased significantly(p<0.1) while lean body mass increased with significance (p<0.1). 2. Heart rate and arterial blood pressure at rest decreased without sinificance after the training. 3. As a result of training, forced vital capacity and forced expiratory volume for a second increased significantly (p<0.01, p<0.1). 4. After the training period, heart rate at 3, 6, and 9 min. during treadmill exercise was significantly lower than those of pretraining (p<0.05). 5. After the training, systolic and diastolic blood pressure at 6 and 9 min during the exercise was significantly lower than those of pretraining (p<0.025, p<0.1). 6. After the training, oxygen uptake at 3 and 6 min during the exercise was significantly greater than those of pretraining (p<0.05). 7. As a result of training, the maximal oxygen uptake increased significantly during the exercise (p<0.1). 8. After the training, expired air volume for a minute at 3 and 6 min during the exercise was signigicantly grerter than those of pretraining (p<0.1). 9. After the training, repiratory quotient during the exercise was lower than pretaining without significance. 10. After the training, blood HDL -cholesterol concentration incereased with significance, (p<0.1) blood total cholesterol and triglycerids concentration decreasedsignificantly (p<0.1). From these results, it may be concluded that 8 week aerobic dance training reduces skinfold thickness and body fat contents, improves the cardiopulmonary function and tissue oxygen utilization, reduces blood cholesterol and triglyceride concentration and brings about the increase of blood HDL-cholesterol concentriation.

배양 심근세포에서 저농도 삼산화비소에 의한 산화적 스트레스 발생 (Oxidative Stress by Arsenic Trioxide in Cultured Rat Cardiomyocytes, $H_9C_2$ Cells)

  • Epidemiologic studies have showed a close correlation between arsenic exposure and heart disease such as, cardiovascular problem, ischemic heart disease, infarction, atherosclerosis and hypertension in human. It may increase the mortality of high risk group with heart disease. Regarding the mechanism studies of heart failure, blood vessel, vascular smooth muscle cells and endothelial cells have long been focused as the primary targets in arsenic exposure but there are only a few studies on the cardiomyocytes. In this study, the generation of oxidative stress by low dose of arsenic trioxide was investigated in rat cardiomyocytes. By direct measurement of reactive oxygen species and fluorescent microscopic observation using fluorescent dye 2',7'-dichlorofluorescin diacetate, reactive oxygen species were found to be generated without cell death, where cells are treated with 0.1 ppm arsenic for 24 hours. With the induction of reactive oxygen species, GSH level was decreased by the same treatment. However, DNA damage did not seem to be serious by DAPI staining, while high dose of arsenic (2 ppm for 24 hrs) caused fragmentation of DNA. To identify the molecular biomarkers of low-dose arsenic exposure, gene expression was also investigated with whole genome microarray. As results, 9,022 genes were up-regulated including heme oxygenase-l and glutathione S-transrerase, which are well-known biomarkers of oxidative stress. 9,404 genes were down-regulated including endothelial type gp 91-phox gene by the treatment of 0.1 ppm arsenic for 24 hours. This means that biological responses of cardiomyocytes may be altered by ROS induced by low level arsenic without cell death, and this alteration may be detected clearly by molecular biomarkers such as heme oxygenase-1.

$YBaCo_2O_{5+{\delta}}$ 세라믹 분리막의 산소투과 특성 (Characteristics of Oxygen Permeation on $YBaCo_2O_{5+{\delta}}$ Ceramic Membrane)

  • $YBaCo_2O_{5+{\delta}}$조성의 산화물을 고상반응법을 이용하여 합성하였으며, 합성된 분말은 압축 성형 후 $1,180^{\circ}C$에서 소결하여 치밀한 분리막을 제조하였다. $YBaCo_2O_{5+{\delta}}$ 분리막은 X-선 회절분석기(XRD)와 전자 주사 현미경(SEM)을 이용하여 분석하였다. XRD 분석결과 $1,150^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 다른 불순물 없이 이중층 페롭스카이트 구조가 얻어졌다. 산소투과량은 분리막 양면에 산소분압 차이에 따라 $750{\sim}950^{\circ}C$ 온도범위에서 측정하였다. 산소투과량은 온도와 산소분압이 증가할수록 증가하였고, 두께 1.0 mm의 $YBaCo_2O_{5+{\delta}}$ 분리막은 $950^{\circ}C$, $PO_2$ = 0.42 atm에서 약 0.15 mL/$cm^2{\cdot}min$의 최대 투과량을 보였다. 산소투과에 대한 활성화 에너지는 산소 분압이 감소할수록 감소하였고 $PO_2$ = 0.21 atm의 조건에서 76.0 kJ/mol이었다.

염분 변화에 따른 자바틸라피아(Oreochromis mossambicus)의 산소소비, 아가미 호흡수 및 암모니아 배설 (Oxygen Consumption, Operculum Movement Number and Ammonia Excretion of Cultured Tilapia (Oreochromis mossambicus) by Salinity Changes)

  • 본 연구에서는 자바틸라피아(체장 10$\pm$1.0cm, 체중 173$\pm$4.2g)를 사용하여 염분의 변화에 따른 산소소비율, 아가미 호흡수 및 암모니아 배설률을 조사하였다. 담수(0 psu)에서 사육하던 자바틸라피아를 염분 0(대조구), 3, 9. 15, 21 및 32 psu로 이동하였을 때 시간경과에 따른 생존율을 조사하였다. 단계적 인 염분변화는 담수(0 psu, 대조구)로부터 염분을 1일 3psu씩 증가시켜 3, 9, 15, 21 및 32 psu가 되도록 조절하였다. 급격한 변화는 각 사육 염분(0, 9, 15, 21, 32 psu)에서 각각 4개의 다른 염분으로 순화 없이 바로 옮겨 조사하였다. 본 연구결과에서 나타난 갑작스런 염분변화는 96시간 반수치사농도(96 hr-TL$_{50}$)는 23.3 psu로 나타났다. 단계적으로 염분을 옮겼을 때 3 psu로부터 27 psu까지 염분증가에 따라 산소소비율과 호흡수는 높아지는 것으로 나타났으며, 32 psu에서는 0 psu보다 낮아지는 경향을 보였다. 암모니아 배설량은 15 psu에서 가장 높은 배설률을 보이고 21 psu이상에서는 불규칙한 배설률을 보였다. 이러한 결과로 볼 때, 담수에서 15 psu 이상으로 갑작스런 이동은 항상성 유지에 문제가 있는 것으로 나타났으며, 염분에 적응사육한다고 할 때 15 psu 이하에서 단계적인 순화를 거쳐서 사육하는 것이 안전하다고 판단되어진다.

마그네트론 스퍼터링법을 이용한 Indium-Tin Oxide 박막의 제작과 그 특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Fabrication and Characteristics of ITO Thin Film Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering Method)

  • Indium-Tin Oxide (ITO) films were prepared on the commercial glass substrate by the Magnetron Sputtering method. The target was a 90wt.% $In_2O_3$-10wt.% $SnO_2$with 99.99% purity. The ITO films deposited by changing the partial pressure of oxygen gas ($O_2$/(Ar+$O_2$)) of 2, 3 and 5% as well as by changing the substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ or $500^{\circ}C$. The influence of substrate pre-annealing and pre-cleaning on the quality of ITO film were examined, in which the substrate temperature was $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure was 3%. The characteristics of films were examined by the 4-point probe, Hall effect measurement system, SEM, AFM, Spectrophotometer, and X-ray diffraction. The optimum ITO films have been obtained when the substrate temperature is $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure is 3%. At optimum condition, the film showed transmittance of 81%, sheet resistivity of $226\Omegatextrm{cm}^2$, resistivity($\rho$) of $5.4\times10^{-3}\Omega$cm, carrier concentration of $1.0\times10^{19}cm^{-3}$, and carrier mobility of $150textrm{cm}^2$Vsec. From XRD spectrum, c(222) plane was dominant in the case of substrate temperature at $300^{\circ}C$, without regarding to oxygen partial pressure. However, in the case of substrate temperature at $500^{\circ}C$, c(400) plane was grown together with c(222) plane, only for oxygen partial pressure of 2 and 3%. In both case of chemical and ultrasonic cleaning without pre-annealing the substrate, it showed much almost same sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transmittance, carrier concentration, and carrier mobility. In case of $500^{\circ}C$/60min pre-annealing before ITO film deposited, both transimittance and carrier mobility are better than no pre-annealing, because pre-annealing is supposed to remove alkari ions diffusion from substrate. ITO film deposited on the Corning 0080 sybstrate showed a little bit better sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transimittance, carrier concentration than the film deposited on commercial glass. But no differences between Corning substrate and pre-annealed commercial glass substrate are found.

날숨이 혼합된 물을 사용한 압축기없는 용존기체 분리기의 분리 특성 (Separation characteristics of separation devices using inlet water mixed with exhalation gases without a compressor)

  • 물속의 용존산소를 이용하면 물고기가 아가미를 이용하여 호흡하듯이 사람이 수중에서 호흡이 가능하지만, 물속에 포함된 용존산소의 양이 적기 때문에 필요한 산소량을 확보하는 문제가 해결되어야 한다. 우선 물의 유량을 증가시켜 분리되는 산소량을 증가하는 것이 가능하지만, 필요한 펌프와 멤브레인 그리고 주변기기의 용량 증가로 분리장치의 부피와 무게 그리고 소요비용도 함께 증가하게 된다. 이러한 문제를 효과적으로 해결하기 위해 많은 양의 산소를 포함하는 날숨의 특성을 이용하면 필요한 산소량을 효과적으로 확보할 수 있다. 일반적으로 날숨에 포함된 산소량은 공기보다 낮고, 이산화탄소 량은 공기보다 많은 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 용존기체 분리장치의 입력 단에 날숨을 혼합한 후, 용존기체 분리장치에서 산소를 포함하는 용존기체를 재분리하는 과정을 거치며, 이때, 입력단에 설치된 수중펌프의 동작으로 수압이 증가하므로, 이러한 수압을 갖는 물에 날숨을 혼합하기 위해서는 압축기가 요구되므로 분리장치의 무게와 부피 그리고 소비 전력이 증가하게 된다. 본 연구에서는 입력단의 압력을 감소시킴으로써 압축기를 사용하지 않고도 날숨을 물에 혼합하는 구조를 갖는 것이 특징이다. 실험을 통해 압축기를 사용하지 않고 날숨이 입력단의 물에 혼합되는 것이 가능함을 제시하였으며, 날숨이 입력단에 공급된 후 분리장치를 통해 분리된 기체의 분리특성을 제시하였다. 날숨을 사용함으로써 용존기체의 분리량이 크게 증가하였으며, 공급되는 날숨의 유량이 증가하면 분리되는 용존 기체의 양도 증가하였다.

팔걸이가 뇌졸중 환자의 보행속도 및 에너지 소모량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Arm Sling on Walk Speed and Energy Consumption in Patients with Stroke)

  • This study was undertaken to identify the influence which affect on gait speed and energy consumption regarding putting on arm sling during gait of the 40 hemiplegic patients selected from University Hospital and rehabilitation center in seoul during two months. The analysis of data was performed using the paired samples ttest to compare the differences of gait velocity, heart rate, oxygen consumption and oxygen cost in gait of preand post- arm sling. The results of this study were as follows; 1. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, gait velocity after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly increased(p<.05). 2. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, heart rate after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). 3. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, oxygen consumption per weight after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). 4. When comparing the result before putting on arm sling in the gait of hemiplegic patient, oxygen consumption rate per weight after putting on arm sling was statistically significantly decreased(p<.05). When putting together the above result, the gait with arm sling in comparison with the gait without arm sling was to increase gait velocity, decrease heart rate, decrease oxygen consumption and was finally to decrease energy consumption in the gait of hemiplegic patient.

Effect of light-curing, pressure, oxygen inhibition, and heat on shear bond strength between bis-acryl provisional restoration and bis-acryl repair materials

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to discover a way to increase the bond strength between bis-acryl resins, using a comparison of the shear bond strengths attained from bis-acryl resins treated with light curing, pressure, oxygen inhibition, and heat. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Self-cured bis-acryl resin was used as both a base material and as a repair material. Seventy specimens were distributed into seven groups according to treatment methods: pressure - stored in a pressure cooker at 0.2 Mpa; oxygen inhibition- applied an oxygen inhibitor around the repaired material,; heat treatment - performed heat treatment in a dry oven at $60^{\circ}C$, $100^{\circ}C$, or $140^{\circ}C$. The shear bond strength was measured with a universal testing machine, and the shear bond strength (MPa) was calculated from the peak load of failure. A comparison of the bond strength between the repaired specimens was conducted using one-way ANOVA and Tukey multiple comparison tests (${\alpha}$=.05). RESULTS. There were no statistically significant differences in the shear bond strength between the control group and the light curing, pressure, and oxygen inhibition groups. However, the heat treatment groups showed statistically higher bond strengths than the groups treated without heat, and the groups treated at a higher temperature resulted in higher bond strengths. Statistically significant differences were seen between groups after different degrees of heat treatment, except in groups heated at $100^{\circ}C$ and $140^{\circ}C$. CONCLUSION. Strong bonding can be achieved between a bis-acryl base and bis-acryl repair material after heat treatment.

ZrB2 분말의 입도 및 산화도가 치밀화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of particle size and oxygen contents on ZrB2 powder for densification)

  • 본 연구에서는 zirconium diboride($ZrB_2$)의 소결성 향상을 위해 두 가지 전처리 공정을 사용하였다. 물리적 전처리 공정으로 SPEX mill을 사용하여 as-received $ZrB_2$ powder의 입도를 $2.61{\mu}m$에서 $0.35{\mu}m$까지 감소시킬 수 있었다. 화학적 전처리 공정으로 희석된 불산 용액을 사용하여 $ZrB_2$ powder의 산화도를 4.20 wt%에서 2.22 wt%까지 감소시킬 수 있었다. 소결된 $ZrB_2$의 상대 밀도는 입도와 산화도가 감소함에 따라 증가하였다. $ZrB_2$의 치밀화에는 산화도 보다 입도의 영향이 더 크다는 것을 확인하였다. 두 가지 전처리 공정을 통해 소결 조제의 사용 없이 치밀한 $ZrB_2$ 소결체를 제조하였다. 물리적 화학적 전처리 공정을 사용함으로써 $ZrB_2$의 소결성을 향상시킬 수 있었다.

Methemoglobinemia caused by a low dose of prilocaine during general anesthesia

  • Methemoglobinemia is a blood disorder in which an abnormal amount of methemoglobin is produced, and prilocaine is one of the drugs that can cause this disorder. The maximum recommended dose of prilocaine is 8 mg/kg. We report a case of methemoglobinemia caused by the administration of 4.2 mg/kg of prilocaine without other methemoglobinemia-inducing drugs during general anesthesia. A 17-year-old girl with hyperthyroidism and anemia was scheduled to undergo maxillary sinus floor elevation and tooth extraction. The patient's peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) decreased from 100% at arrival to 95% after receiving prilocaine with felypressin following induction of general anesthesia. However, the fraction of inspired oxygen was 0.6. Blood gas analysis showed that the methemoglobin level was 3.8% (normal level, 1%-2%), fractional oxygen saturation was 93.9%, partial pressure of oxygen was 327 mmHg, and arterial oxygen saturation was 97.6%. After administration of 1 mg/kg of methylene blue, her SpO2 improved gradually to 99%, and the methemoglobin value decreased to 1.2%. When using prilocaine as a local anesthetic, it is important to be aware that methemoglobinemia may occur even at doses much lower than the maximum recommended dose.
