  • The WBAN technology means a short distance wireless network which provides each device's interactive communication by connecting devices inside and outside of body located within 3 meters. It is necessary to develop core technology that the WBAN middleware and application service for WBAN sensor network. A device for gathering patient's biometric information was used zigbex of Hanbaek electronics and we designed the message structure which is collected the biometric information. The gateway design and implementation for the WBAN environment. The embedded system was HBE-empos II of Hanbaek electronics and the WBAN network is implemented to BNC and BN that used for hbe-ubi-zigbex. It was confirmed that the proposed sensor gateway could be used for the interconnection of the proposed system with other networks.

  • This article shows a set of physical information fusion IoT systems that we designed for smart buildings. Its essence is a computer system that combines physical quantities in buildings with quantitative analysis and control. In the part of the Internet of Things, its mechanism is controlled by a monitoring system based on sensor networks and computer-based algorithms. Based on the design idea of the agent, we have realized human-machine interaction (HMI) and machine-machine interaction (MMI). Among them, HMI is realized through human-machine interaction, while MMI is realized through embedded computing, sensors, controllers, and execution. Device and wireless communication network. This article mainly focuses on the function of wireless sensor networks and MMI in environmental monitoring. This function plays a fundamental role in building security, environmental control, HVAC, and other smart building control systems. The article not only discusses various network applications and their implementation based on agent design but also demonstrates our collaborative information fusion strategy. This strategy can provide a stable incentive method for the system through collaborative information fusion when the sensor system is unstable in the physical measurements, thereby preventing system jitter and unstable response caused by uncertain disturbances and environmental factors. This article also gives the results of the system test. The results show that through the CPS interaction of HMI and MMI, the intelligent building IoT system can achieve comprehensive monitoring, thereby providing support and expansion for advanced automation management.

  • As the construction industry has recently been transformed by the emergence of ubiquitous and intelligent technology, there have been major changes in the management methods employed. Specifically, next-generation construction management systems have been developed that collect and analyze many pieces of information in real time by using various wireless sensors and networks. The purpose of this study is to understand the current status of Ubiquitous Sensor Networks (USN) in the construction sector, and to gain fundamental data for a system of measuring concrete curing temperature in a construction site that employs a USN. By investigating the application status of USN, it was confirmed that USN has mainly been applied to the maintenance of facilities, safety management, and quality control. In addition, a field experiment in which the curing temperature of concrete was measured using a USN was carried out to evaluate two systems with wireless sensor networks, and the applicability of these systems on site was confirmed. However, it is estimated that the embedded wireless sensor type is affected by metal equipment on site, internal battery of sensor and concrete depth, and studies to provide more stable system by USN are thus required.

  • Wireless MEMS sensors have common features such as wireless communication, data measurement, embedded processing, battery-based self-power, and low cost, and increased measurement effectiveness. Wireless MEMS sensors enable efficient SHM without interfering with location because there is no requirement for triboelectric noise and cumbersome cables. However, there is little research on the communication distance with sensors and data. For instance, existing researches have limited communication distance experiments in civil engineering bridges. It is also necessary to investigate the characteristics of dynamic behavior and the communication distance of architectural structures with different wireless transmission/reception environments. Therefore, in a building structure with walls and slabs instead of open spaces, MEMS sensors and data loggers were used as distance experiments where communication disturbance between the vertical slab and the horizontal wall could actually be communicated.

  • In the modern life, machines are used for various areas in industries as the advance of science and industrial development has proceeded. In many machines, the rotating machines play an important role in many processes. Therefore, the development of fault diagnosis and monitoring system for rotating machines is required. An ubiquitous sensor network (USN) is a combination of the key computer science and engineering area technology including the wireless network, embedded system hardware and software, communication, real-time system, etc. It collects environmental information to realize a variety of functions. In this work, a data reduction algorithm for USN based remote fault diagnostic system which can be easily applied to previously built factories is proposed. To verify the feasibility of the proposed scheme, some simulations and experiments are executed.

  • Low-power and lossy networks (LLNs) comprised of thousands of embedded networking devices can be used in a variety of applications, such as smart grid automated metering infrastructures (AMIs) and wireless sensor networks. Connecting these LLNs to the Internet has even greater potential, leading to the emerging concept of the Internet of Things (IoT). With the goal of integrating LLNs into IoT, the IETF has recently standardized RPL and 6LoWPAN to allow the use of IPv6 on LLNs. Although there already exist several studies on the the performance of RPL and embedded IPv6 stack in LLN, performance measurement and characterization of TCP over RPL in multihop LLNs is yet to be studied. In this article, we present a comprehensive experimental study on the performance of TCP over RPL in an embedded IPv6-based LLN running over a 30-node multihop IEEE 802.15.4 testbed network. Our results and findings are aimed at investigating how embedded TCP interoperates with common Linux TCP and underlying RPL (and vice versa), which furthers our understanding of the performance trade-offs when choosing TCP over RPL in IPv6-based LLNs.

  • Embedded System includes touch, GPS, motion, and acceleration sensor, and can communicate with neighbor devices using wireless communication. Because Arduino with embedded system provides good environment for development and application, developers, engineers, designers, as well as artists, students have a great interest. They utilize Arduino in the robot, home appliances, fashion, culture and so on. In this paper, we design and implement a game using Arduino with embedded system which recognizes the human movement by moving away from one-dimensional game of the existing touch method. Implemented embedded system game measures gyro-sensor to recognize human movement and detects the attack success of the opponent by using touch sensor. Moreover, health of the game player is updated in the real time through the android phone-based database. In this paper, implemented embedded system-based game provides GUI screen of android phone. It is possible to select watching mode and competition mode. Also, it has low energy consumption and easy to expand because it send and receive data packet through recent Bluetooth communication.

  • Recently, a lot of research have been studied to apply wireless sensor networks to USN applications. The characteristics of USN applications is that they are varied according to the sort of sensors and sensing objects. They includes military applications, water pollusion monitoring, intelligent traffic system, farm, logistics, location position applications, and so on. There is no traditional method to classify these applications. In this paper, we propose a taxonomy scheme to classify USN applications. The criteria is based on 3 properties, the criticalness of services, the mobility of sensing entity, and the mobility of sensed objects, to classify them into 8 groups. We also describe the technical issues and related works in them. Our taxonomy can make USN applications to be easily understood and memorized.

  • Wireless sensor networking technology is one of the basic infrastructures for ubiquitous environment. It enables us to gather various sensory data such as temperature, humidity, gas leakage, and speed from the remote sensor devices. To support these networking functions, IEEE WPAN working group makes standards for PHY and MAC, while ZigBee Alliance defines the standards for the network, security, and applications. The low-rate WPAN was emerged to have the characteristics of network resilience, low cost, and low power consumption. It has a broad range of applications including, but not limit to industrial control and monitoring, home automation, disaster forecast and monitoring, health care. In order to provide more intelligent and robust services, users want voice-based solutions to accommodate to low-rate WPAN. In this paper, we have evaluated voice quality of an IEEE 802.15.4 standard compliant voice node. Specifically, it includes the design of a voice node and experiments based on the prediction of voice quality using the E-model suggested by ITU-T G.107, and the network communication mechanisms considering beacon-enabled and nonbeacon-enabled networks for real-time voice communications.
