  • This paper proposes a system called Wireless Link based on Global Communication Channel (WLGCC) to enhance the spectrum sharing between digital broadcasting (DB) services and the cognitive radio (CR) system in the licensed band of 470-790 MHz. The WLGCC aims to enhance the spectrum sensing and geolocation database (GLD) spectrum sharing methods in the CR system. Spectrum sensing can be enhanced by receiving the status of the used frequencies from the WLGCC, thereby eliminating the need for a low detection threshold (i.e., avoiding the hidden node problem). In addition, the GLD can be enhanced by providing a reliable communication link between the database and the CR device in the form of an unused TV white space that is reserved as the proposed Global Communication Channel (GCC). This paper analyzes the coexistence of the new WLGCC system and the DB service in terms of avoiding additional interference. Specifically, we mathematically determine the WLGCC parameters, such as the in-band and out-of-band power levels, and operation coverage, and verify them using Monte Carlo simulation. The results show that WLGCC does not degrade the existing DB service and reliably transmits information of the vacant (or used) frequency bands to the CR.

  • Mobile communication systems such as WCDMA, Wibro, LTE, etc are being developed to meet the explosively increasing demands for wireless data. These communication systems are using the power at all times. In general a base station has all of the communication systems mentioned above in order to provide a more convenient service to a number of users. The demands for wireless data are changed according to time and location. If the mobile communication systems are selectively operated according to the demand for wireless data then the consumed power can be saved. This paper describes the design and implementation of the load management system which controls the supplied power to the mobile communication infrastructures depending on the demand of wireless data.

This paper addresses the scheme for costal area service using mobile IP router with multiple interfaces. For this, this system has the wireless interfaces, such as WiBro, HSDPA, and WLAN that can provides vessels with divers communication services, and can provide the vessels with the diverse information communication services in real-time through wireless communication network installed in costal area. So this can provide the infrastructure that supplies the authorized seamless information communication services.

  • The wireless communication system adopts an appropriate retransmission scheme on each system protocol layer to improve reliability of data transmission. In each system protocol layer, the retransmission scheme operates in independently other layers and operates based on the parameters without reference to end-to-end performance of wireless communication system. For this reason, it is difficult to design the optimal system parameters that satisfy the QoS requirements for each service class. Thus, the performance analysis of wireless communication system is needed to design the optimal system parameters according to the end-to-end QoS requirements for each service class. In this paper, we derive the mathematical model to formulate the end-to-end performance of wireless communication system. We also evaluate the performance at the MAC and transport layers in terms of average spectral efficiency and average transmission delay. Based on the results of performance evaluations, we design the optimal system parameters according to the QoS requirements of service classes. From the results, the HARQ combined with AMC is appropriate for the delay-sensitive service and the ARQ combined with AMC is appropriate for a service that is insensitive to transmission delay. Also, the TCP can be applied for the delay-insensitive service only.

  • KEPRI, the research institute for KEPCO, has started developing a DAS using wireless communication networks since 1999. The wireless networks adopted Radio Link Protocol (RLP) of Personal Communication Service (PCS) as communication protocol. It is the first time that PCS is applied to data networks for DAS. The communication protocol, RLP, makes the DAS networks simple and economically affordable when they are installed at widely dispersed small cities. But, RLP has problem when it send unsolicited message. This paper describes the implementing method of a wireless network using RLP and TCP/IP Network to cope with unsolicited message problem.

  • This paper introduces a new mobile music service, private music on demand (PMOD), which is implemented by mobile DJ in wireless and wired networks. The newly introduced PMOD service is based on the concept that users can have music services at anytime and by any form they want. The mobile DJ implementing PMOD services, therefore, enables users to do more than simply listening music through networks.

  • As development of wireless communication technology has promoted mobility, Location Based Service (LBS) became embossed. The LBS is a service to recognize and utilize a location of a person or a thing through a device that ensures mobility based on wireless communication network. This paper thus researches on Healthcare Method to respond to emergency rapidly by recognizing a patient's location with the LBS. The LBS also provides location information of a user as well as remote management of organism data such as ECG data or pulse, which is transferred to a hospital or an emergency room.

  • In this paper, we describe an intelligent monitoring and control system for pick-up/delivery service. This system applies geographical information system(GIS), global positioning system(GPS) and wireless communication technologies for managing pick-up/delivery operations more effectively. It consists of three subsystems, pick-up/delivery sequence planning system, pick-up/delivery monitoring system, and PDA execution system. Pick-up/delivery sequence planning system generates routes and schedules for pick-up/delivery using GIS and optimization techniques. Pick-up/delivery monitoring system monitors current positions of vehicles and actual pick-up/delivery results as compared with planned routes and visit times, while PDA execution system transmits information for vehicles positions and actual pick-up/delivery results using GPS and wireless communication technologies. The intelligent monitoring and control system is currently being used for the pick-up parcel service in a local post office of Korea Post.

  • Wireless access always has to include the authentication of communication partners and the encryption of communication data in order to use secure M-Commerce services. However, wireless systems have limitations compared with the wired systems, so we need an efficient authentication and key exchange protocol considering these limitations. In this paper, we propose an efficient authentication and key exchange protocol for M-Commerce users using elliptic curve crypto systems. The proposed protocol reduces the computational load of mobile users because the wireless service provider accomplishes some parts of computations instead of the mobile user, and it uses the password-based authentication in wireless links. Also, it guarantees the anonymity of the mobile user not to reveal directly the real identity of the user to the M-Commerce host, and preserves the confidentiality of communication data between the M-Commerce host and the user not to know the contents of communication between them to others including the wireless service provider.

  • This paper is contents on that construct ultra high speed wireless communication cell backbone net of city using of wireless communication transceiver for millimeter wave band. A new type of 60GHz wave band wireless transceiver using NRD waveguide. This 60GHz transceiver has excellent signal's absorption characteristics of oxygen molecule than the other millimeter wave bands. We constructed service networks to cell interval within about 500m to 3Km laying stress on wireless backbone node using 60GHz transceivers, and did it so that city type wireless communication cell backbone networks of 155.52Mbps ATM(OC-3) may be possible. The possible use of wireless backbone networks technology in a rainy day and a clear day was evaluated at 1Km data link distance. We can measured bit error rate(BER). BER is $10^{-11}$ at 155.52Mbps ATM(OC-3) in a clear day and $10^{-6}$ in a heavy rain more than 35mm per time. Also, we constructed wireless cell backbone networks distance to use several 60GHz transceivers and investigated data transmission rate between main center and local center of long distance. In proposed wireless cell backbone networks, the data throughput was approximately 80Mbit/sec. Therefore, if use transceiver, it is possible that city type ultra high speed wireless communication cell backbone networks construction of 100Mbps, 155.52Mbps, 622Mbps, 1Gbps and 1.2Gbps degrees.
