Recently a new wireless communication architecture, a Virtual Cellular Network(VCN) was proposed in order to improve the preformance of a wireless network. Unlike a conventional cellular network, the VCN does not use a conventional frequency reuse concep. In the VCN, however, each mobile can use the entire system bandwidth. There is no pre-determined border of cells nor fixed based station for a mobile to communicate with. The performance of the VCN is improved by allowing any mobile to communicate with any port which residues in the virtual cell of the mobile. In this paepr, the Multi Packet Encoding (MPE) is proposed for the VCN uplink in order to improve the unfair throughput and delay caused by the position of the mobiles, and its performance is investigated via computer simulations. The Minimum Group(MG) is proposed for downlink protocol.

The current cellular communications are optimized for low mobility users, meaning that their performance is degraded at high speed. Therefore, passengers in a high-speed train experience very poor radio link quality due to the significantly large number of simultaneous handovers. In addition, wireless data traffic is expanding exponentially in trains, subways and buses due to the widespread use of smartphones and mobile devices. To solve the inherent problem of cellular communication networks and meet the growing traffic demand, this paper proposes the mobile hotspot network of a millimeter-wave communication system as a mobile wireless backhaul. This paper describes the physical layer design of uplink and downlink in the proposed system, and the performances of uplink and downlink are evaluated under Rician fading channel conditions. The implemented baseband prototype of the proposed millimeter-wave communication modem is presented. This system can provide a Gbps data rate service in high-speed trains carrying hundreds of wireless Internet users.
The recent advance in wireless network technologies has enabled the streaming media service on the mobile devices such as PDAs and cellular phones. Since the wireless network has low bandwidth channels and mobile devices are actually composed of limited hardware specifications, the transcoding technology is needed to adapt streaming media to given mobile devices. Futhermore owing to the diversity of bandwidth in the wireless network by reason of mobile users' movements and environments, it is difficult to provide stable QoS. In this paper, the autonomic multimedia transcoding system is proposed in order for users to provide network adaptive QoS. Our proposed system is based on the estimation of available bandwidth in wireless network for seamless multimedia streaming service. The proposed system is designed and implemented for various mobile clients. In experiments, we evaluate its seamless multimedia streaming and the adaptation transcoding bit rate according to the changes of bandwidth in wireless network.

This paper analyzes the optimal user density and power allocation for Device-to-Device (D2D) communication underlaying cellular networks on multiple bands with the target of maximizing the D2D transmission capacity. The entire network is modeled by Poisson point process (PPP) which based on stochastic geometry. Then in order to ensure the outage probabilities of both cellular and D2D communication, a sum capacity optimization problem for D2D system on multiple bands is proposed. Using convex optimization, the optimal D2D density is obtained in closed-form when the D2D transmission power is determined. Next the optimal D2D transmission power is obtained in closed-form when the D2D density is fixed. Based on the former two conclusions, an iterative algorithm for the optimal D2D density and power allocation on multiple bands is proposed. Finally, the simulation results not only demonstrate the D2D performance, density and power on each band are constrained by cellular communication as well as the interference of the entire system, but also verifies the superiority of the proposed algorithm over sorting-based and removal algorithms.
In this paper, we study a wireless cellular network design problem. It consists of selecting the location of the base station controllers and mobile service switching centres, selecting their types, designing the network into a tree-topology, and selecting the link types, while considering the location and the demand of base transceiver stations. We propose a constraint programming model and develop a heuristic combining local search and constraint programming techniques to find very good solutions in a reasonable amount of time for this category of problem. Numerical results show that our approach, on average, improves the results from the literature.
Recently, due to the rapid advances of mobile communication, multimedia service can be provided by mobile devices. Cellular network tends to uses SIP as a call setup protocol in order to provide various multimedia service to consumers. Cellular network holds the characteristic of higher BER(Bit Error Rate), narrower bandwidth than the wired network. The value of SIP RTI(Retransmission Time interval) based on the wired network decreases a network efficiency and increases a call setup delay over cellular network. By using NS-2 simulator, we show new SIP RTI value adequate over cellular network. We design and implement home network by using the modified SIP that is suitable for cellular network.

To provide good-quality services of multimedia in wireless mobile networks, QoS for multimedia traffic should be guaranteed. However, since the existing QoS guaranteed schemes are designed for fixed networks, they are inadequate in the wireless network environments. Recently, as the size of cells like micro cell or pico cell becomes smaller. Mobile hosts on micro cellular networks, change their location frequently. It causes many drawbacks such as delayed delivery, packet losses and signaling overheads. Because the existing schemes supporting interoperability between RSVP and Mobile If are designed for macro cell environments. Their uses in micro cellular networks can be restricted. In this paper, we propose the CRSVP(Cellular RSVP Protocol) which supports QoS in micro cellular network environments.
New and handoff calls control mechanisms are the key point to wireless cellular networks. In this paper, we present an adaptive algorithm for dynamic channel allocation scheme with guard channels and also with handoff calls waiting queue ensuring that handoff calls take priority over new calls. Our goal is to find better tradeoff between handoffs and new calls blocking probabilities in order to achieve more efficient channel utilization. Simpy is a Python based discrete event simulation system. We use Simpy to build our simulation models to get analytical data.

The ubiquitous environment of the future has to exploit this multitude of connectivity alternatives resulting from diverse wireless communication systems and different access technologies to provide useful services with guaranteed quality to users. New applications require a ubiquitous environment capable of accessing information from different potable devices at any time and everywhere. This has motivated researchers to integrate various wireless platforms such as cellular networks., WLANs, and MANETs. Integration of different technologies with different capabilities and functionalities is an extremely complex task and involves issues at all layer of the protocol stack. This article compares and discusses a connection alternatives and integrated architecture in network layer for a SDR-based heterogeneous wireless network.
This paper describes a robust mobile u-healthcare system with multiple physiological signs measurement capability in real time with integration of WSN(wireless sensor network) technology and CDMA(code division multiple access) network. A cellular phone receives health data in WSN and performs local physiological signs analysis at a phone processor, and then transmits abnormal data to server for further detail or precise health signal evaluation by a medical doctor over a CDMA network. Physiological signs of the patients are continuously monitored, processed and analyzed locally at cellular phone process to produce useful medical information for diagnosis and tracking purposes. By local simple analysis in cellular phone processor we can save the data transmission cost in CDMA network. By using the developed integrate ubiquitous healthcare service architecture, patients can realize self-health checking so that the prevention actions can be taken earlier. Appropriate self-monitoring and self-management can cure disease and relieve pain especially for patients who suffer from chronic diseases that need long term observation.
