  • Proper amount of entrained air and nip force should be also considered to minimize ballooning phenomenon since tight contact between a roller and web is required. In this paper, various web materials, PET(Polyester) and OPP(Oriented Poly Propylene) have been selected and investigated to satisfy high-speed printing requirement. Several web speeds, web tensions, and temperature conditions are imposed on each web materials and the pressure and gap profiles as well as nip force have been calculated. Increase of both the winding roller radius and the incoming wrap angle is considered under proper taper tension at 500 m/min of rewinding roller. By solving coupled Reynolds equation and web deflection equation simultaneously, the fluid-structure interaction process has been developed and is applied to the rewinding roller to investigate the ballooning phenomenon which causes guiding problems in high-speed printing performance conditions. By adjusting the linear taper tension, stress distribution between rewinding webs can be remarkably reduced and stable pressure and gap profile with ignorable ballooning phenomenon have been found.

  • The mold transformers have been widely used in underground substations in large building and have some advantages in comparison to oil-transformer, that is low fire risk, excellent environmental compatibility, compact size and high reliability. In addition, the application of mold transformer for outdoor is possible due to development of epoxy resin. The mold transformer generally has cooling duct between low voltage coil and high voltage coil. A mold transformer made by one body molding method has been developed for small size and low loss. In this paper, the proto type mold transformer of 50kVA class is investigated by routine, type, special test. The outdoor energized aging test is investigated by back-to-back method to verify the long time performance of pole mold transformer. The aging process of transformer is analyzed by various diagnosis method such as DC voltage-current test, $tan{\delta}$, Meggar measurement, winding temperature and etc.

  • In pulsed-power techniques. Marx generator is generally used for the high-power device. but this generator has insulation and spatial problems. So we will suggest a pulse transformer that has a small size to generate the high voltage pulse instead of Marx generator. In this paper, Pulse duration is 4 [${\mu}s$] and the ratio of input and output voltage is 40[kV]/200[kV](step-up ratio=5). The output voltage and the process of pulse compression for pulse circuit are simulated by EMTP (Electro-Magnetic Transient Program). The secondary voltage of pulse transformer is about 200[kV] and pulse width is 4[t/s]. When the secondary winding of the pulse transformer is saturated. the pulse width is 1.25[${\mu}s$]. We selected dummy load 50[$\Omega$] for impedance matching. The pulse voltage of dummy load is 100[kV] and pulse width is 500[ns].

  • This paper proposes a new type of consequent-pole permanent-magnet (CPPM) machine with stator axial magnetic ring that increases torque capability over a wide speed range and enhances efficiency for the built-in rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine used in new energy vehicles. The excitation winding of the CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine in the stator is replaced by ferrite magnetic ring to simplify the structure and manufacturing process of the machine. The basic structure and magnetic regulation principle of the proposed machine are introduced and compared with the traditional interior rare-earth permanent magnet synchronous machine and CPPM hybrid excitation synchronous machine. Finally, experimental results of a new type of CPPM synchronous motor prototype with axial magnetic ring are introduced in the paper.

  • The technology of inductive power transfer has been proved to be a promising solution in many applications especially in electric vehicle (EV) charging systems, due to its features of safety and convenience. However, loosely coupled transformers lead to the system efficiency not coming up to the expectation at the present time. Therefore, at first, the magnetic core losses are calculated with a novel magnetic-circuit model instead of the commonly used finite-element-method (FEM) simulations. The parameters in the model can be obtained with a one-time FEM simulation, which makes the calculation process expeditious. When compared with traditional methods, the model proposed in the paper is much less time-consuming and relatively accurate. These merits have been verified by experimental results. Furthermore, with the proposed loss calculation model, the system is optimized by parameter sweeping, such as the operating frequency and winding turns. Specifically, rather than a predesigned switching frequency, a more efficiency-optimized frequency for the series-parallel (SP) compensation topology is detected and a detailed investigation has been presented accordingly. The optimized system is capable of an efficiency that is greater than 93% at a coil separation distance of 200mm and coil dimensions of $600mm{\times}400mm$.

  • In this study, we attempt to produce a semi-elliptical riblet with a shark skin-like surface using wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) and micro molding techniques. Our design for the production of the semi-elliptical mold includes an electrode, a winding roller, and a guide on the WEDM system. A replication mold with negative riblets is machined using WEDM, and a shark skin inspired surface with positive riblets is fabricated using a micro molding technique. For a comparison with the original shark skin, a shark skin replica is also produced using the micro molding technique directly from a shark skin template. Droplet contact angles on a flat surface, the shark skin replica, and the epoxy resin-based micro riblet shark skin-like surface are evaluated. The effect of a Teflon coating on the contact angles for the three different surfaces is also investigated. The results show the micro riblet with a shark skin-like surface has a similar contact angle as the shark skin replica, which means that the simplified riblet shark skin surface strongly influences the performance of wettability. This study confirms the effectiveness of using the WEDM method to prepare hydrophobic surfaces with diverse surface patterns.

  • One of the recent proposals with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is a multi-bore NMR which consists of array of magnets which could present possibilities to quickly cope with pandemic virus by multiple inspection of virus samples. Low temperature superconductor (LTS) can be a candidate for mass production of the magnet due to its low price in fabrication as well as operation by applying the helium zero boil-off technology. However, training feature of LTS magnet still hinders the low cost operation due to multiple boil-offs during premature quenches. Thus in this paper, LTS magnet with low mechanical stress is designed targeting the "training-free" LTS magnet for mass production of magnet array for multi-bore NMR. A thorough process of an LTS magnet design is conducted, including the analyses as the followings: electromagnetics, mechanical stress, cryogenics, stability, and protection. The magnet specification was set to 4.7 T in a winding bore of 85 mm, corresponding to the MR frequency of 200 MHz. The stress level is tolerable with respect to the wire yield strength and epoxy crack where mechanical disturbance is less than the minimum quench energy.

  • In this study. we searched for the mechanical and electrical properties of laminated coated conductors with stabilizer tape. Stabilizer tape plays a role for mechanical and electrical stability and environmental protection. Cu material stabilizer was laminated to Ag capping layer on SmBCO conductor layer. This architecture allows the wire to meet operational requirements including the stressless at cryogenic temperature and winding tension as well as mechanical bending requirements including thermal and electrical stability under fault current conditions. First, we have experimentally studied mechanical bonding properties of the laminated Cu stabilizers on SmBCO coated conductors. We have laminated SmBCO coated conductors by continuous dipping soldering process, Second, we have investigated electrical properties of the SmBCO coated conductors with stabilizer lamination. We evaluated bonding properties, peeling strength and critical current for laminated SmBCO coated conductors with Cu stabilizers.
