  • Since the residual stress of hydrogen tank is directly related to durability, it is very important to reduce it for safety. Type II~IV hydrogen tank are manufactured by the filament winding method, in which the fiber is impregnated with resin and wound around the liner. Residual stress in composite is affected by curing conditions and fiber tension etc. In this study, the effect of curing conditions on residual stress was analyzed when manufacturing a Type III hydrogen tank using carbon fiber filament winding process. First, the curing behavior of the epoxy resin was analyzed using a differential scanning calorimetry. Through this, the curing temperature was set to 140℃. During the same curing time, the specimens were cured under 2-stage curing condition that reached 140℃ earlier and a 4-stage curing condition that reached 140℃ later, respectively. After curing, the residual stress of the composite material was measured by the ring slitting method, and the experimental values were compared with numerical values. It was confirmed that there was a significant difference in residual stress according to the optimization of curing conditions.

  • A new composite manufacturing technique which combines winding and curing together is studied and analyzed. This method is especially suited to the manufacture of thick composite materials in which thermal spiking is a common problem. An experimental apparatus was designed and built for use with a filament winder to continuously cure a thick composite cylinder. A hoop-wound composite cylinder with 152 mm wall thickness was manufactured and embedded thermocouples and strain gages were monitored throughout the cure process. The experimental data were compared with analytical results.

  • A robust control for robot manipulators actuated by induction motors using neural networks(NNs) is considered. The control is designed to compensate for nonlinear dynamics associated with the mechanical subsystem and the electrical subsystems only with the measurements of link position, link velocity and stator winding currents. Two-layer NNs are used to approximate unknown functions occurring from parameter variation during backstepping design process. Specially, through the use of nonlinear observers for rotor flux, observed backstepping controller is designed to achieve uniform ultimately bounded link position tracking of the given reference signal ...

  • In comparison with conventional motors, Superconducting Homopolar Synchronous Motors (SHSMs) have advantages that it generates high magnetic field by superconducting winding. Therefore, superconducting coil used in SHSM can reduce the motor size and enhance the motor efficiency for high torque applications under the space constraints for propulsion system. During the design process of SHSM, it is required to evaluate the performance of initial design model, that is accurately analyzed using 3D magnetic field modeling large air-gap and flux distribution of axial direction is properly taken into account. In this paper, we analyze magnetic field of a homopolar motor with a 4-pole homopolar rotor and a stator of 3 phase windings. The field analysis is done using 3D finite element analysis which can reflect the end effect and overhang winding. And we extract mutual inductances between a rotor wind and the 3 stator windings. The extracted inductances are used for evaluation of overall motor performances that are calculated with generalized circuit theory of electrical machines.

  • We had proposed a winding method so called "Wind-and-Flip", which enables a persistent current operation of an HTS pancake coil without any electrical joint. In order to improve the magnetic field drift characteristics, a prototype HTS coil with the technique was fabricated, and tested under various temperatures. Because the coil doesn't have any electric terminals for current leads, an HTS background magnet was used to induce the persistent current in the coil by field cooling process. A conduction cooling system with a GM cryocooler was prepared to keep the operating temperatures of the prototype coil much below the 77 K. We investigated the magnetic field drift characteristics under the various operating temperatures by measuring the center magnetic field with a cryogenic Hall sensor. The persistent current mode operation at 20 ~ 50K showed a strong possibility of the winding technique for the application such as MRI or NMR.

  • In this paper, we developed modeling of tension and speed dynamics for a two-drum winder in a three span continuous web transport system which had not been previously. Dynamic modeling of the time-varying nonlinear system was derived by considering the effect of the radii and mass moment of inertia in the unwinder and the two-drum winder through winding up the web. After linearizing it, we designed with a variable-gain a PID controller for tension control and a PI controller for speed. Simulation is carried out with the variation of radii and moment of inertia at high speed for the proposed tension control system with the two-drum winder and the variavle-gain a PID controller. Results show good performance of tension control during the speed change speed at a start-up and stop.

  • The large AC generator fault may lead to large impacts or perturbations in power system. The generator protection control systems in Korea have been imported and operated through a turn-key from overseas entirely. Therefore a study of the generator protection field has in urgent need for a stable operation of the imported goods. In present, the algorithm using the current ratio differential relaying based DFT for stator winding protection or a fault detection had been applied that of internal fault protection of a generator. the DFT used for the analysis of transient state signal conventionally had defects losing a time information in the course of transforming a target signal to frequency domain. In this paper, the discrete wavelet transform (DWT) was applied a fault detection of the generator being superior to a transient state signal analysis and being easy to real time realization. The fault signals after executing a terminal fault modeling collect using a MATLAB package, and calculate the wavelet coefficients through the process of a muiti-level decomposition (MLD). The proposed algorithm for a fault detection using the Daubechies WT (wavelet transform) was executed with a C language and the commend line function for the real time realization after analyzing MATLAB's graphical interface. The advanced technique had improved faster a speed of fault discrimination than a conventional DFR based on DFT.

  • Unlike Tubular Steel Tower, This Composite Material Tower is a low-technology Component, whose design is easy to optimize, and which therefore during the design process-lends itself easily as an object for possible cost reduction at very little effort. This may come in useful as the cost of a tower usually significant part of the total cost of a structure. This paper is written by the Composite Materials Tower which loaded Complex loading in Off and On shore. This Composite Material Tower is made by the Method of Filament Winding, and the Component of Composite Material is used by the Roving RS220PE-535. When it loaded Complex trading, there is a results which is bigger than steel tower deflection. We controlled this 1a18e deflection by stiffeners which has thickness 20mm. At last, Off and On Shore Tower which used Composite Materials is compared with Off and On Shore Tower which used Steel.

  • With the increase of the production of energy from renewable, it becomes important to look at techniques to store this energy. Therefore, a single winding bearingless flywheel motor (SWBFM) specially for flywheel energy storage system is introduced. For the control system of SWBFM, coupling between the torque and the suspension subsystems exists inevitably. It is necessary to build a reasonable radial force mathematical model to precisely control SWBFM. However, SWBFM has twelve independently controlled windings which leads to high-order matrix transformation and complex differential calculation in the process of mathematical modeling based on virtual displacement method. In this frame, a Maxwell tensor modeling method which is no need the detailed derivation and complex theoretical computation is present. Moreover, it possesses advantages of universality, accuracy, and directness. The fringing magnetic path is improved from straight and circular lines to elliptical line and the rationality of elliptical line is verified by virtual displacement theory according to electromagnetic torque characteristics. A correction function is taken to increase the model accuracy based on finite element analysis. Simulation and experimental results show that the control system of SWBFM with radial force mathematical model based on Maxwell tensor method is feasible and has high precision.

  • FRP reinforcing bars(rebars) are produced through a variety of manufacturing process includes pultrusion, and filament winding and braiding etc. Each manufacturing method produces a different surface condition of FRP rebar. The surface properties of FRP rebar is an important property for mechanical bond with concrete. Current methods of providing surface deformation to FRP rebars include helical wrapping, surfaces and coating and rib molding. The problem with the helical wrapping method is that it can not provide enough surface deformation for good bond and it can be easily sheard off from the FRP rebars. Sand coating and rib molding provide surface deformation only to the outer FRP skins. Therefore, FRP rebar has about 60% of bond strength of steel rebar. The main objective was to evaluate the bond properties of FRP rebar after environmental exposure. Five types of FRP rebar includes CFRP ISO, GFRP Aslan, AFRP Technora CFRP(Korea), and GFRP(Korea) rebars performed direct bond tests. Also, FRP rebar bond specimens were subjected to exposure conditions including alkaline solution, acid solution, salt solution and deionized water etc. According to bond test results, CFRP(Korea) and CFRP(Korea) rebars were found to have better bond strength with concrete than previous FRP rebars. Also, FRP(Korea) rebar had more than about 70% in bond strength of steel rebar.
