This research presents results of structural designs and evaluations for 3MW Wind Turbine Blade by FEM analysis. After the GFRP model was designed as a baseline model, failure check by Puck's failure criterion and buckling analysis were accomplished to verify safety of wind turbine blade in the critical design load case. Moreover, applicability of two kinds of carbon spar cap model, was studied by comparing total mass, price and tip deflection to the GFRP model. The results showed that the GFRP model had sufficient structural integrity in the critical design load case, and the carbon spar cap model could be a reasonable solution to reduce weights, tip deflections.

This paper is to study the wind effect of the large scale gantry crane. It is used to control the sway of gantry crane in the loadingiunloading job of containers. I'hls is very important in the automated container terminal because the sway of handling equipments in pard is caused by thc l~nexpected disturbance such as wind and dynamic inertia by deriving force. This study shows the process of the modelling simulation of the wind effect of the sway motion of the gantry crane. Pro-Engineer, ANSYS and DAD'; ~ rr . used for 3D solid modelling and dynamic simulation. Though this study did not use the real parameters. the ; cwl ~ shows the trend of the wind effect is very large in the large scale crane and should be considered in design of the large scale gantry crane. In future, if the study is done by using the real parameters, the result is much more ~ise!'ul for dynamic control and design of gantry crane.
This paper proposes a design scheme for an LCL-filter used for the three-parallel operation of the power converters in high-capacity wind turbines. The designs of the power devices and grid connected filter are difficult due to the high level voltages and currents in huge-capacity wind turbines. To solve these problem, this paper presents three-parallel operation and LCL-filter design techniques optimized by parallel operation. Furthermore, the design of an inverter side inductance of the LCL-filter is discussed in detail considering the switching modulation method. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the validity of the designed filter and wind turbines.

The paper describes the conceptual design, structural modelling and wind load analysis of tall buildings. The lateral stiffness of the building can be obtained economically through the interaction of core walls with peripheral frame tube and/or bundle of frame tubes and integrated design of the basement. The main structural components should be properly distributed such that the building will deflect mainly in the direction of the applied force without inducing significant response in other directions and twist. The cost effectiveness can be further enhanced through close consultation between architects and engineers at an early stage of conceptual design. Simplified structural modelling of the building and its response in three principal directions due to wind load are included. Effects of the two main structural components on the performances of a 70-story reinforced concrete building in terms of peak drift and maximum acceleration under wind load are discussed.
The mathematical implementation for inverse airfoil design of wind turbines is presented using vortex panel method based on assumptions of the two-dimensional incompressible potential flow. The vortex panel method employs linear distribution of the vortex strength to obtain the well converged solution. Stream function is adopted to get the basic formula for the inverse airfoil design, and a symmetric seed airfoil is given for initial data of the iteration approach. The final airfoil shape has been compared with the original airfoil shape for validation of the mathematical procedure.
In this study, we have constructed the method of design about H-Darrieus wind turbine, a kind of VAWT(vertical axis wind turbine). The NACA 0012 airfoil is chosen for the blade, and DMS(double multiple streamtube) theory is used for the analysis. The flow field is computed with numerical solution of rotating Navier-Stokes equations. From the result of experimental data of power coefficient curves, the validity of the present research is checked. Through the non-dimensional parameter analysis for the wind turbine design, we estimated the efficiency of wind turbine with the resultant Cp's, with which an efficient design of VAWT is achieved, and aerodynamic characteristics are presented systematically.

The wind generators have been installed with high output power to increase the energy production and efficiency. Hence, Optimal design of the direct-driven PM wind generator, coupled with F.E.M(Finite Element Method) and Genetic Algorithm(GA), has been performed to maximize the Annual Energy Production(AEP) over the whole wind speed characterized by the statistical model of wind speed distribution. Particularly, the parallel computing via internet web service has been applied to loose excessive computing times for optimization. The results of the optimal design of Surface-Mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator(SPMSG) are compared with each other candidates to verify the usefulness of the maximizing AEP model.

The wind turbine blade is the equipment converted wind into electric energy. The effect of the blade has influence of the output power and efficiency of wind turbine. The design of blade is considered of lift-to-drag ratio. structure. a condition of process of manufacture and stable maximum lift coefficient, etc. This study is used the simplified method for design of the aerodynamic blade and aerodynamic analysis used blade element method This Process is programed by delphi-language. The Program has any input values such as tip speed ratio blade length. hub length. a section of shape and max lift-to-drag ratio. The Program displays chord length and twist angle by input value and analyzes performance of the blade.
The cruciform shaped mast over 47 storey, Telecom Corporate Building in Melbourne, Australia rises to a height of approximately 25 m above the roof level. As the members are subjected to very high fluctuating loads under wind, the design was mainly governed by wind-induced fatigue. A detailed fatigue analysis was carried out according to the requirements of the Australian Steel Structures Code, AS4100. The wind-induced fatigue analysis procedure is described in the paper. The fatigue design of this mast is used as an example to illustrate some potential problems of relevant specifications in AS4100 and to outline some of the more important parameters in the fatigue analysis.
In recent years, the effects of a possible climate change have been discussed in regard to wind loading on buildings and structures. Simple scenarios based on the assumption of global warming suggest an increase of storm intensities and storm frequencies and a possible re-distribution of storm tracks. Among recent publications, some papers seem to verify these scenarios while others deny the influence of climatic change. In an introductory step, the paper tries to re-examine these statements. Based on meteorological observations of a weather station in Germany, the existence of long-term trends and their statistical significance is investigated. The analysis itself is based on a refined model for the wind climate introducing a number of new basic variables. Thus, the numerical values of the design wind loads used in modern codes become more justified from the probabilistic point of view.
