  • It is always necessary to high performance power supplies for the magnet system in the accelerator, especially when the number of power supplies are large. When have developed the compact power supply using switching technology instead of SCR phase control. We adopt the pulse width modulation(PWM) method with a half bridge DC/DC converter. In this way, we can make a compact system with light weight and small volume. Actual system we developed is 1.2kW, 35V/35A bipolar DC power supply current precision of +/-0.02%. It is possible to mount 10 unit in a conventional 19 rack. The built in controller has an RS422 protocol to drive 10 unit by one serial port up to 1.2km distance. If we adopt RS485 protocol, one serial port can control 32 power supplies. In this paper, we will report the design and performance of the prototype power supply.

  • The design of a passive control solution based on tuned mass dampers (TMD's) requires the estimation of the actual masses involved in the undesired vibration. This task may result not so straightforward as expected when the vibration resides in subsets of different structural components. This occurs, for instance, when the goal is to damp out vibrations on stays. The theoretical aspects are first discussed and a design process is formulated. For sake of exemplification, a multiple TMD's configurations is eventually conceived for an existing timber footbridge located in the municipality of Trasaghis (North-Eastern Italy). The bridge span is 83 m and the deck width is 3.82 m.

  • In GMA welding processes, bead contour and penetration patterns are criterion to estimate weld quality. Bead geometry is commonly defined with width, height and depth. When weaving is taken into account, selection of welding conditions is known to be difficult. Thus, empirical or trial-and-error method are usually introduced. This study examined the correlation of welding process variables including weaving parameters with bead geometry using srtificial neural networks(ANN). The main task of the Ann estimator is to realize the mapping characteristics from the sampled welding process variables to the actual bead geometry through training. After the neural network model is constructed, welding process variables for desired bead geometry is selected by inverse model. Experimental varification of the inverse model is conducted through actual welding.

  • This paper presents a DTC-PWM(Direct Torque Control-Pluse Width Modulation) method of PMSM(Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) using the flux-torque hysteresis band. In order to keep the flux and torque error of the PMSM within the hysteresis band, the optimal PWM duty ratio is calculated by the error of the flux and torque with the flux and torque vector of the selected voltage vector. According to the flux duty ratios and the torque duty ratios, the optimized duty ratio to reduce the errors is selected by the calculated duty ratios. In the proposed method, the selected voltage vector is divided into d-q axis components with a simple method. And the flux duty ratios and torque duty ratios are estimated by the applied voltage vector. The proposed DTC-PWM for PMSM was verified by computer simulation.

  • Traditional genetic algorithms, though robust, are generally not the most successful optimization algorithm on only particular domian. Hybridizing a genetic algorithm with other algorithms can produce better performance than both the genetic algorithm and the other algorithms. This paper describes the application of random signal-based learning to a genetic algorithm in order to get well tuned fuzzy rules. The key of tis approach is to adjust both the width and the center of membership functions so that the tuned rule-based fuzzy controller can generate the desired performance. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is verified by computer simulation.

  • This study was performed to development a dental three-dimensional laser scanning system and measure the accuracy of new adjustable upper dental impression tray. The metal stock, individual, and new adjustable stock trays were used for 30 stone casts(10 casts each) duplicated a resin master model of maxilla. The dental stone was poured in a vinyl polysiloxane impressions and allowed to set for on hour. The master model and the duplicated casts were digitized using an dental scanning system. The distance between the reference points were measured and analyzed on the graphic image of 3D graphic software of CATIA. The statistical significance of the differences between the groups was determined by a two-way ANOVA. There were no significant differences between the accuracies of the adjustable stock tray and the master model except only anterior arch width on the upper arch. The adjustable upper stock tray showed clinically acceptable accuracies of the study cast produced by them.

  • This study analyzed the effects of dynamic assessment in terms of scaffolding group types and young children's measurement ability levels. Participants were five-year-old children in Busan divided into 2 experimental groups and control groups. The Assessment Tools for Young Children's Measurement Ability (Ko & Hwang, 2008) consisted of 4 sub tests for ‘length', 'width', and 'weight' concepts. Data were analyzed by t-test and ANOVA. Results showed significant differences between experimental and control groups in post-test scores, but no significant differences between individual and peer collaboration groups in amount of scaffolding. Significant improvements showed in all of the measurement ability level groups : individual higher, individual lower, peer collaboration higher and peer collaboration lower level scaffolding groups.

  • This paper proposes an overmodulation strategy for space-vector PWM(SVPWM). The overmodulation strategy increases a fundamental output voltage and improves a voltage utilization up to the maximum in the overmodulation region. To maintain a linearity of the relation between a reference voltage and a fundamental output voltage, this paper suggests a compensation voltage, whose magnitude or phase is modified to the proposed control scheme. The practical implementation is simple and it is applied to improve an output voltage of SVPWM controlled AC Motor in the steady-state. The characteristic of the proposed strategy is confirmed by simulations and experiments for a V/F control of a induction motor.

  • A prefabricated composite hollow slab with perforated I-beams was suggested for the replacement of deteriorated concrete decks or the construction of new composite bridges with long-span slabs. Composite slabs with embedded I-beams have considerably higher stiffness and strength. For the application of prefabricated composite slabs to bridges, joints between slabs should satisfy the requirements of the ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state. In this paper, three types of the detail for loop joints were selected and their structural performance in terms of strength and crack control was investigated through static tests on continuous composite slabs. A main parameter was the detail of the joint, such as an ordinary loop joint and loop joint with additional reinforcements. Even though there was no connection of the steel beams at the joints, the loop joints showed good performance in terms of strength. In terms of crack control, the loop joint with additional reinforcements showed better performance. In ultimate limit state, the continuous composite slabs showed good moment redistribution and ductility.

  • In this paper, pulse-width modulation (PWM) control strategy of various topologies of matrix converters is presented, which is based on direct duty ratio PWM (DDPWM). Because the DDPWM method has the characteristics of the inherent per-phase modular structure, it can be effectively applied to single-phase, two-phase and three-phase four-leg matrix converters as well as the common three-phase to three-phase matrix converter. Also, this paper treats command generation method in each matrix converter. The feasibility and validity of the proposed method are verified by experimental results.
