Fabrication of Two One-Way Silicon Micro Valves using Boron Etch Stop Layer (붕소 식각 정지층을 이용한 두 개의 한 방향 실리콘 미세 밸브의 제작)

  • In this paper, a silicon microvalve has been fabricated using micromachining technology. The valve consists of the several thin silicon diaphragms which are designed to open and close depending on the pressure difference. It is supposed to pass fluids in only one direction. The thin diaphragms are fabricated by boron etch stop using an anisotropic etchant, EPW. The fabricated valve has been tested for various pneumatic pressure. According to the experimental results, the slit width of the valve increases as the pneumatic pressure increases.

  • This paper treats the implementation of a statically stable control system for a biped walking robot with 10 degrees-of-freedom. Statically stable walking of a biped robot can be realized by keeping the center of mass (COM) inside the sole of the supporting foot (or feet) during single-support or double-support phases. We predetermined five static positions for walking based on the COM method. The positions can be represented by the length of the gait, the width between the feet, the height of the foot and two parameters in the hip movement. With the five parameters, we calculated the position trajectory. And we got the angular trajectories of 10 joints from the posit ion trajectory using the position tracking control and neural network.   • Arc sensor gives important groove information during welding. Automatic seam tracking control system with arc sensor has significant characteristics such that bead formation is given as decentralization of penetration and formation of concave bead profile and that a turning point of transverse weaving with constant arc length control is decided whether or not torch height reaches to a specified setting level. Furthermore, the rotating action of the arc prevents hanging of weld bead and forms flat bead surface under high speed welding condition. The variation of groove and deposition area can be detected from the trace of weaving. The area and width of weaving trace has close correlation with the area of groove and deposition.   • The solenoid valve of ABS hydraulic modulator is a two directional on-off valve and is controlled by around 100Hz on-off control. When the on-off valve is switched from open state to closed state, there are braking force deterioration, noise and vibration due to surge pressure in the wheel cylinder. In this study, identifies surge pressure in the braking process of ABS, and investigates the way to reduce the phenomenon. To reduce the surge pressure, PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) control with high frequency of 20kHz was attempted. In conclusion, by using the results of this study for the pressure surge prediction, we could expect enhancement of braking performance in ABS.

  • A CCD camera with a laser stripe was applied to realize the automatic weld seam tracking in GMAW. It takes relatively long time to process image on-line control using the basic Hough transformation, but it has a tendency of robustness over the noises such as spatter and arc light. For this reason. it was complemented with adaptive Hough transformation to have an on-line processing ability for scanning specific weld points. The adaptive Hough transformation was used to extract laser stripes and to obtain specific weld points. The 3-dimensional information obtained from the vision system made it possible to generate the weld torch path and to obtain the information such as width and depth of weld line. We controled the wire feeding rate using informations of weld line.

  • A laser line welder using a solid-state laser (Yb:YAG) has been manufactured for joining ultra-thin cold-rolled steel coils in steelworks. The coils to be welded primarily range from 0.15 to 0.3 mm in thickness and 800 to 1,100 mm in width. Because the steel plate is extremely thin, it is very important to control the stop positions of the clamp at cutting and welding points. In this study, both hydraulic proportional control valves and LVDT sensor embedded cylinders were used to precisely control and monitor the positions of clamps with complementary stoppers. As a result, the positions could be controlled within an error of ${\pm}30{\mu}m$. Erichsen cupping tests on the welded joints show that the Erichsen index ranges from 4.4 to 4.6 mm. Furthermore, the tensile strength of welding points is comparable to that of the base metal.

This paper presents BLDC motor control algorithm for cost effective motor application using general purpose microprocessor which have only one on-chip timer and describes how to realize pulse width modulation(PWM) signals with general input/output(I/O) ports to control a three-phase permanent magnet brushless do motor using timer interrupt on MSP430F1232.

  • A Novel Zero Current Switching(ZCS) Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) boost converter for reducing two rectifiers reverse recovery related losses Is proposed. The switches of the proposed converter are operating to work alternatively turn-on and turn-off with soft switching(ZVS, ZCS) condition. The reverse recovery related switching losses and EMI problems of the proposed converter eliminates the reverse recovery current of the freewheeling diode(D, Dl) by adding the resonant inductor Lr, in series with the switch S2. The voltage and current stresses of the components are similar to those in its conventional hard switching counterpats. As mentioned above, the characteristics are verified through experimental results.

  • The paper presents the componet parts and their models for the switched reluctance motor drive system with the angle position-current chopping control and with the fixed angle pulse width modulation control. The calculation of the parameters and the simulated models based on the MATHLAB SIMULINK software package are introduced by a four-phase 8/6 structure prototype with the four-phase asymmetric bridge ower converter. The simulation of the prototype in the course of starting is made by the simulated models at the different control strategies and speeds.

  • A ZCT(Zero Current Transition) PWM(Pulse-Width-Modulation) boost converter using parallel MOSFET switch is proposed in this paper. The IGBT(main switch) of the proposed converter is always turned on with zero current switching and turned off with zero current/zero voltage switching. The MOSFET(auxiliary switch) is also operates with soft switching condition. In addtion to, the proposed converter eliminates the reverse recovery current of the freewheeling diode by adding the resonant inductor, Lr, in series with the main switch. Therefore, the turn on/turn off switching losses of switches are minimized and the conduction losses by using IGBT switch are reduced. In addition to, using parallel MOSFET switch overcomes the switching frequency limitation occurred by current tail. As mentioned above, the characteristics are verified through experimental results.
