Preliminary Studies on Double-Diffusive Natural Convection During Physical Vapor Transport Crystal Growth of Hg2Br2 for the Spaceflight Experiments

  • We have conducted a preliminary numerical analysis to understand the effects of double-diffusive convection on the molar flux at the crystal region during the growth of mercurous bromide ($Hg_2Br_2$) crystals in 1 g and microgravity (${\mu}g$) conditions. It was found that the total molar fluxes decay first-order exponentially with the aspect ratio (AR, transport length-to-width), $1{\leq}AR{\leq}10$. With increasing the aspect ratio of the horizontal enclosure from AR = 1 up to Ar = 10, the convection flow field shifts to the advective-diffusion mode and the flow structures become stable. Therefore, altering the aspect ratio of the enclosure allows one to control the effect of the double diffusive natural convection. Moreover, microgravity environments less than $10^{-2}g$ make the effect of double-diffusive natural convection much reduced so that the convection mode could be switched over the advective-diffusion mode.

  • 본 논문은 철도 차량용 보조전원 장치의 부피 저감을 위하여 펄스 폭 제어가 포함된 공진형 LLC 컨버터를 제안한다. 철도 차량용 보조전원 장치는 가선에 연결되어 객차의 각종 전원을 공급하는 장치로써 객실 내의 전원과 절연이 필수적이다. 따라서 고효율의 절연형 DC/DC 컨버터인 LLC 컨버터가 적용되어 있으나, 가선의 큰 입력전압 변동에 대응하기 위해 스위칭 주파수의 변조 폭이 넓어질 뿐 아니라 제어 난도가 증가하는 단점을 가진다. 이러한 LLC 컨버터의 단점을 보완하기 위해 Boost+LLC 또는 Buck+LLC 컨버터의 두 단계의 전력변환을 통해 Boost 또는 Buck 컨버터가 LLC 컨버터의 입력전압을 제어하며, LLC 컨버터는 항상 공진 주파수에서 동작하도록 제어하는 시스템이 주로 사용된다. 본 논문은 3레벨 LLC 컨버터에 펄스 폭 변조를 적용하여 입력전압 제어를 달성하며, 이를 통해 기존의 시스템보다 부피 저감을 달성하는 방안을 제안한다. 제안된 방법은 전력변환 모의해석 프로그램인 PSIM 및 Matlab을 통해 검증되었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 Carrier-Based Pulse Width Modulation(CBPWM)을 사용한 Active Neutral Point Clamped (ANPC) 인버터의 안정적인 고장 허용 운전을 위한 중성점 전압 균형 제어 기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법은 ANPC 인버터를 구성하고 있는 전력 반도체 스위치의 고장으로 인한 고장 허용 운전 시, 출력 특성이 저하되는 문제점을 해결하기 위해 스위칭 조합의 재구성과 기준 출력전압의 변조를 통한 중성점 전압 균형을 유지한다. 제안된 기법의 타당성은 RT-BOX를 통한 HIL 시뮬레이터를 이용하여 확인하였다.

  • As global environmental regulations have been strengthened, the eco-friendly market has grown rapidly. In the field of aircraft, research on electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft that can enter city centers and perform personal air transportation using electric propulsion is ongoing. For aircraft using electric propulsion methods to operate reliably, electric power thrust systems are a key factor. Electric aircraft require a high power density for propulsion systems with strict limits on volume and weight. The efficient control of inverter systems is essential for achieving high power density. Therefore, in this paper, the characteristics of inverters and motors were analyzed through simulations based on the space vector pulse width modulation (PWM) and discontinuous PWM methods for controlling inverter systems.

  • With the aim to maximize the use of a given voltage source in the field of railway and electric vehicles, this study applies a technique for controlling the overmodulation region between the linear and the six-step regions. High linearity overmodulation techniques that do not use look-up table (LUT) to digital signal processor (DSP) using carrier based pulse width modulation (PWM) are proposed. Such technique requires the phase of the voltage vector at the point where the circular trajectory of the voltage command vector and hexagonal cross each other. Therefore, a method is proposed to obtain a phase of a voltage vector that is derived through an equation and applied to a carrier-based PWM. Validity of the proposed implementation method is confirmed through simulation and experiment.

  • Since robotic assembly in an unstructured environment is very difficult with existing control methods, studies using artificial intelligence such as reinforcement learning have been conducted. However, since long-time operation of a robot for learning in the real environment adversely affects the robot, so a method to shorten the learning time is needed. To this end, a method based on a pre-trained neural network was proposed in this study. This method showed a learning speed about 3 times than the existing methods, and the stability of reward during learning was also increased. Furthermore, it can generate a more optimal policy than not using a pre-trained neural network. Using the proposed reinforcement learning-based assembly trajectory generator, 100 attempts were made to assemble the power connector within a random error of 4.53 mm in width and 3.13 mm in length, resulting in 100 successes.

  • We have investigated the MOD process successfully for the fabrication of the YBCO thick film on the $LaAlO_3$(001) single crystalline substrate. The cracking problem in YBCO thick film, a serious problem in the conventional TFA-MOD method, could be overcome with a careful control of precursor materials. Thus coating solution was prepared for the YBCO thick film by using fluorine-free precursor material. The precursor solutions were coated on the LAO(001) single crystalline substrate using the dip coating method, calcined at the temperature up to $500^{\circ}C$, and fired at various high temperatures for 2 h in a reduced oxygen atmosphere. Optimally processed YBCO thick film exhibited high critical current($I_c$) over 200 A/cm-width at 77K in self-field.

  • In this paper, we present a new approach for the automation of deburring process. An algorithm for teaching skills of a human expert to a robot manipulator is developed. This approach makes use of TSK fuzzy mode that can wxpress a highly nonlinear functional relation with small number of rules. Burr features such as height, width, area, grinding area are extracted from image processing by use of the vision system. Grinding depth, repetitive number and normal grinding force are chosen as control signals representing actions of the human expert. It is verified that our proposed fuzzy model can accurately express the skills of human experts for the deburring process.

  • 효율 및 내환경성에서 우수한 성능을 갖는 매입형 영구자석 동기전동기(IPMSM, Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)는 최근 철도차량용 견인전동기로서 주목받고 있다. 일반 도시 철도차량의 추진제어시스템은 장시간 연속 운행 및 자연통풍냉각 방식의 설계가 요구되므로 대전력 스위칭으로 인한 발열 문제가 고려된 낮은 스위칭 주파수 및 6-스텝 제어 아래 인버터의 고성능 제어가 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 6-스텝 및 낮은 스위칭 주파수로 IPMSM을 제어하기 위한 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 동기화 방법을 기술하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 제어 성능을 검증하였다.

  • MSIS(Modular Scalable Inverter System)에서 모터 구동 시 발생하는 고주파 성분의 순환 전류는 구동 시스템의 효율 및 신뢰성을 저하시키기 때문에, 이를 저감하기 위한 PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) 동기화 기법의 구현이 필수적으로 요구 된다. 본 논문은 MSIS에서 PWM 동기화 기법을 적용하기 위한 모터 구동 인버터용 제어보드의 설계에 관한 것이다. 제어보드 간 PWM 동기화 기법을 적용하기 위해 DSP(Digital Signal Processor)의 EPWMSYNC를 활용하였다. EPWMSYNC은 서로 다른 DSP간 PWM의 위상을 동기화하는 기능으로 DSP의 EPWMSYNCO과 EPWMSYNCI를 사용한다. 설계한 제어보드는 EPWMSYNC 신호를 광케이블을 통해 다른 제어보드로 연결할 수 있도록 설계하여, 제어보드 간의 절연과 잡음의 영향을 최소화했다. 본 논문에서 설계한 제어보드의 EPWMSYNC를 시험하였으며, 600W급 IPMSM(Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor)을 부하로 사용하는 시스템에서 설계된 제어보드의 유효성을 검증하였다.
