  • In addition to the nutritional values, milk has a wide range of bioactive compounds which have been found to be increasingly important for physiological and biochemical functions on human metabolism and health. Bioactive components in milk comprise specific proteins, peptides, lipids and carbohydrates. Especially, milk proteins are known to exert a wide range of nutritional, functional, and biological activities. And milk proteins are considered the most important source of bioactive peptides, including antihypertensive, antithrombotic, antimicrobial, antioxidative, immunomodulatory, and opioid peptides. Many ingredients containing specific bioactive peptides derived from milk protein hydrolysates have been launched on the market and are currently under development. In future studies more emphasis should be given to the health-promoting effect in the well-defined human clinical studies for the successful development of function foods based on the milk-derived bioactive components.

  • A DC/DC converter generally needs to work under high switching frequency when used as an adjustable power supply to reduce the size of magnetic elements such as inductors, transformers and capacitors, but with the rising of the switch frequency, the switch losses will increase and the efficiency will reduce. Recently, to solve these problems, research is actively being done on a soft switching method that can be applied under high frequency and on a PWM converter that can be applied under low frequency such as a multi-level topology. In this paper a novel DC-DC conversion method for reducing the ripple of output voltage is proposed. In the proposed converter, buck converters are connected in series to generate the output voltage. By using this method, the ripple of output voltage can be reduced compared to a conventional buck converter. Particularly when output voltage is low, the number of acting switching elements is less and the result of ripple reduction is more obvious. It is expected that the converter proposed in this paper could be very useful in the case of wide-range output voltage.

  • This work reports on three primary color fluorescent white organic light emitting diode (WOLED) with simple device structure where only a part of the hole transporting layer was doped with dye. The maximum luminance of the device reaches $35000\;cd/m^2$ at a drive voltage below 11V and external quantum efficiency of the device is above 1% in the wide range of luminance from 10 to $35000\;cd/m^2$ and reaches its highest 1.6% at $500\;cd/m^2$. The chromaticity coordinate shift of the device is negligible in this wide range of luminance. The blue shift of emission color with an increase of current density was attributed to the narrowing of recombination zone width with raise of current density.

  • Breakdown voltage model and expertiments are compared for discharge cells of AC plasma display panel. In the model, discharge paths are assumed to be initial electric field lines and the one-dimensional continuity equation is applied to the charged particle transport at each field line. The comparisons are performed in the wide range of gas pressure (50-600torr), Xe partial pressure over total pressure (1-6%), sustain electrode gap(100-1000$\mu\textrm{m}$), wall height(130, 300$\mu\textrm{m}$), and voltage pulse width(2-6${\mu}$s). The presented breakdown voltage model well agree with experiments in the above wide range. The increase of breakdown voltage with the decrease of the width(L) of protruding electrode is also described by the model.

  • Atomic force microscope (AFM) enables us to stretch a single polymer chain by picking it at its two modified termini. Using this method called "nanofishing," we have studied statistical properties of single polymer chains. A force-extention curve obtained for a polystyrene with thiol termini in a cyclohexane showed a good agreement with a worm-like chain (WLC) model, and thus gave microscopic information about entropic elasticity. In this report, the experiments were performed at wide-range temperatures, resulting in wide-range solvent qualities from poor to good solvent condition. The temperature dependence of statistical properties of polystyrene was examined. The coil-strand transformation realized in a poor solvent was also discussed.

  • This paper describes a neural stimulation system that employs an inductive coupling link to transfer power and data wirelessly. For the reliable data and power delivery, a self-referenced amplitude-shift keying (ASK) demodulator and a wide-range voltage regulator are suggested and implemented in the proposed stimulator system. The prototype fabricated in 0.35 um BCD process successfully transferred 1.2 Kbps data bi-directionally while supplying 4.5 mW power to internal MCU and stimulation block.

  • This paper proposes a dc/dc converter for electric vehicle onboard chargers using a secondary resonant tank. To attain soft switching characteristics, such as zero voltage switching, magnetizing inductance has been used at the primary side of the transformer. The leakage inductance of the transformer is used as a resonant inductor on the secondary side to avoid the use of a separate inductor as resonance. The proposed converter is applicable for a wide load range. A 6.6KW prototype has been implemented for a wide range of load variations (250V, 330V, 360V, and 413V). A maximum efficiency of 97.4% is achieved at 413V.

  • This paper proposes a wide speed range sensorless vector control strategy. At low speed region, the difference of high frequency impedances is used in order to estimate the rotor flux angle. At high speed region this algorithm is combined with the adaptive observer. It enables the stable operation even at zero speed under the rated load condition This is verified by experimental results.

  • This paper deals with a switching method of a three-phase interleaved bidirectional DC-DC converter to obtain high efficiency in wide load range. The proposed soft-switching method provides ZVS and ZCS at turn-on, and ZVS at turn-off of the switch as well as considerably reduced conduction loss in light load. Simulation and experiment are carried out with a bidirectional DC-DC converter having the power rating of 3 [kW], and those results show the validity of the proposed switching method.

  • In this paper, a voltage-controlled linear variable resistor (VCLVR) using a floating-gate MOS-FET (FG-MOSFET) is proposed. The proposed-circuit is the grounded VCLVR consists of only an ordinary MOSFET and an FG-MOSFET. The advantage of the proposed VCLVR are low-voltage and wide-input range. Next, as applications, a floating-node voltage controlled variable resistor and an operational transconductance amplifier using the proposed VCLVRs are proposed. The performance of the proposed circuits are characterized through HSPICE simulations with a standard 0.6 ${\mu}$m CMOS process. simulations of the proposed VCLVR demonstrate a resistance value of 40 k$\Omega$ to 338 k$\Omega$ and a THD of less than 1.1 %.
