Advanced Field Weakening Control for Squirrel-Cage Induction Motor in Wide Range of DC-Link Voltage Conditions

  • This paper proposes a field weakening control method for operating an induction motor with a variable DC input voltage condition. In the variable DC voltage condition such as a battery, the field weakening method are required for the maximum output power. The conventional field weakening control methods can be used for operating the induction motor over the rated speed in a constant DC-link voltage condition. However, the conventional methods for operating the motor with the variable DC voltage is not suitable for the maximum output power. To overcome this problem, this paper proposes the optimized field weakening control method to extend the operating range of the induction motor with a rated power in a limited thermal and a wide DC input voltage conditions. The optimized d-axis and q-axis current equations are derived according to the field weakening region I and II to extend the operating region. The experimental results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

  • This paper presents a DC/DC LLC resonant converter with wide input/output voltage gain characteristics and its control method for efficiency improvement. For a wide input/output voltage gain characteristics without designing small transformer magnetization inductance, the proposed converter changes the topology into three modes of operation according to the main switch switching pattern. In each operating mode, variable LINK voltage modulation and frequency modulation were performed to control output voltage and improve operating efficiency. A prototype of a 5-kW DC/DC LLC resonant converter was built and tested to verify the validity and applicability of the proposed converter.

  • We propose a new address-while-display (AWD) driving method to obtain a high contrast ratio and a wide driving margin which is composed of a short ramp reset period, a sustain period and an address period as the basic unit. The short ramp reset (SRR) pulse made it possible to assure the wide operating voltage margin and minimize the background luminance by redistributing the wall charges between address and scan electrode. As a result, a high dark room contrast ratio of 10000 to 1 could be obtained with a wide operating voltage margin of 40V for stable address.

  • In this paper, we propose an LLC resonant converter that operates over a wide controllable output voltage ($50V_{DC}$ to $800V_{DC}$) and shows high efficiency characteristics under all load conditions and output voltages. Two 3.3kW prototypes are designed for an experimental comparison between the variable frequency control (control scheme 1) and the variable input voltage($V_{IN}$) control (control scheme 2) mechanisms. The experimental results show that the variable input control mechanism demonstrates high efficiency under all loads and output voltages.

  • To match the dynamic lower voltage of a fuel cell stack and the required constant higher voltage (400V) of a DC bus, an H-type structural Boost three-level DC-DC converter with a wide voltage-gain range (HS-BTL) is presented in this paper. When compared with the traditional flying-capacitor Boost three-level DC-DC converter, the proposed converter can obtain a higher voltage-gain and does not require a complicate control for the flying-capacitor voltage balance. Moreover, the proposed converter, which can draw a continuous and low-rippled current from an input source, has the advantages of a wide voltage-gain range and low voltage stress for power semiconductors. The operating principle, parameters design and a comparison with other converters are presented and analyzed. Experimental results are also given to verify the aforementioned characteristics and theoretical analysis. The proposed converter is suitable for application of fuel cell systems.

  • A capacitor common connected LLC resonant converter with auxiliary switches for a wide output voltage control range is presented in this paper. The proposed converter can be controlled in two ways to achieve a wide output voltage control range of Vo-3Vo. The first control method is performed through pulse width modulation of the auxiliary switches and primary switching devices. The second control method is conducted through frequency modulation of the primary switching devices configured to operate in full-bridge switching modes, when the auxiliary switches are turned off. The feasibility of the proposed converter is verified by the experimental results of a 5 kW prototype.

  • In this paper, a single-phase single-stage three-level AC/DC converter with a wide controllable output voltage is presented. It integrates a PFC converter and a three level DC/DC converter into one. The proposed converter operates at a fixed frequency and provides a wide controllable output voltage ($200V_{dc}-430V_{dc}$) with high efficiencies over a wide load range. In addition, the input boost inductors operate in a discontinuous mode to improve the input power factor. Moreover, all the switching devices operate with ZVS, and the converter's THD is small especially at full load. The feasibility of the proposed converter is verified with experimental results of a 1.5kW prototype.

CMOS X-Ray 검출기를 위한 위상 고정 루프의 전하 펌프 회로 (A Charge Pump Circuit in a Phase Locked Loop for a CMOS X-Ray Detector)

  • 본 논문에서는 CMOS X-Ray 검출기의 메인 클럭을 발생시키는 위상 고정 루프(phase locked loop, PLL)을 위한 전류 불일치를 줄이면서도 넓은 동작 범위를 가지는 전하 펌프(charge pump, CP) 회로를 제안하였다. CP 회로의 동작 범위와 전류 불일치는 CP 회로를 구성하는 전류원 회로의 동작 범위와 출력 저항에 의해서 결정된다. 제안된 CP 회로는 넓은 동작 범위를 확보하기 위한 wide operating 전류 복사 바이어스 회로와 전류 불일치를 줄이기 위한 출력 저항이 큰 캐스코드 구조의 전류원으로 구현하였다. 제안된 wide operating range 캐스코드 CP 회로는 350nm CMOS 공정을 이용하여 칩으로 제작되었으며 소스 측정 장치(source measurement unit)을 활용하여 전류 일치 특성을 측정하였다. 이때 전원 전압은 3.3V이고 CP 회로의 전류 ICP=100㎂이었다. 제안된 CP 회로의 동작 범위 △VO_Swing=2.7V이고 이때 최대 전류 불일치는 5.15%이고 최대 전류 편차는 2.64%로 측정되었다. 제안된 CP 회로는 낮은 전류 불일치 특성을 가지면서 광대역 주파수 범위에 대응할 수 있으므로 다양한 클럭 속도가 필요한 시스템에 적용할 수 있다.

  • A algorithm for control and performance of a pulse-density-modulated (PDM) series-resonant voltage source inverter developed for corona-dischange precesses is presented. The PDM inverter produces either a square-wave ac-voltage state or a zero-voltage state at its ac terminals to control the average output voltage under constant dc voltage and operating frequency. Moreover it can achieve zero-current-switching (ZCS) and zero-voltage-switching (ZVS) in all the operating condition for a reduction of switching lost. Even though the corona discharge load with a strong nonlinear characteristics, new high frequency resonant inverter is shown the wide range power control from 5% to 100%.
