  • In this study, rotor dynamic analysis have been conducted using three-dimensional solid model. Analysis object has smaller size and higher speed than any general CNC spindle. It is important to consider the real supporting conditions and external forces for whirl behavior analysis. As a results, the bearing stiffness is higher, whirl motion is less than before.

  • 화점높이 변화에 따른 풀 화재와 회오리 화염의 연소특성을 알아보기 위하여 인화성 액체인 메탄올을 $100{\times}100{\times}50$ 크기의 스테인레스 재질의 사각형 용기에 넣고 연소실험을 하였다. 연소시간, 질량감소속도, 화염온도, 화염높이 및 외부로부터 화염으로의 공기유입속도 등을 측정하였으며, 연소시 화염의 거동은 비디오카메라를 이용하였다. 모든 실험결과로부터 화점높이 변화에 따른 연소특성은 풀 화재보다는 회오리 화염에 있어서 더 큰 영향을 준다는 것을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this study, a dynamic behavior of rotor-bearing system used in CNG compressor has been investigated using the combined methodologies of finite elements and transfer matrices. The finite element is formulated including the field element for a shaft section and the point element for roller bearings. The Houbolt method is used to consider the time march for the integration of the system equations. The transient whirl response of rotating shaft supported on roller bearings is obtained, considering compression forces and unbalance forces at eccentric crank-pin part. And, the steady state displacements of the rotor are compared with a variation in stiffness coefficient of roller bearings. Results show that the loci of crankshaft considering unbalance forces and external compression forces are more severe in whirl motion than with only unbalance forces.

  • The spindle with a built-in motor can be used to simplify the structure of machine tool system, while the rotor has unbalance mass inevitably. Therefore, it is important to recognize the effect of unbalance mass. This paper presents analysis of dynamic behavior of a high speed spindle with a built-in motor. The spindle is supported by the angular contact ball bearings and the rotor is fixed at the middle of spindle. The spindle used in CNC automatic lathe has been investigated using combined methodologies of finite elements and transfer matrices. The Houbolt method is used for the integration of the system equations and the dynamic behavior of spindle is obtained considering unbalance mass of rotor. Results show that increasing rotational speed of spindle magnifies the whirl responses of spindle seriously. Also the whirl responses of spindle are affected by the other factors such as unbalance mass and bearing stiffness.

  • 공작기계 응용에 있어서 고속 및 고효율 가공의 추세는 스핀들의 고속화를 지속적으로 요구하고 있다. 내장형 모터를 장착한 스핀들은 가공시스템의 구조를 단순하게 한다. 하지만 로터에는 불평형 질량에 의해 진동이 발생하며, 이를 제거하기 위한 밸런싱 작업은 필수적이다. 이 논문에서는 내장형 모터를 장착한 고속 스핀들의 동적거동을 해석하였다. 불평형 질량, 베어링 강성, 회전 속도의 변화에 따른 휘돌림 궤적을 해석하였고, 이를 저감시키는 방법을 모색하였다. 또한 Timoshenko 빔 요소를 적용하여 스핀들-베어링 시스템을 모델링하고, 영향 계수법을 적용하여 밸런싱 과정을 시뮬레이션 하였다. 스핀들의 경우, 불평형 하중이 작용할 때, 베어링 지지점에서 가장 작은 휘돌림 궤적이 나타났으며, 양단에서 가장 큰 휘돌림 궤적을 나타내었다. 스핀들의 회전속도가 증가함에 따라 스핀들 선단에서의 휘돌림 궤적도 증가하였다. 베어링의 강성이 커짐에 따라 휘돌림 궤적 또한 증가하였다. 밸런싱 전, 후의 휘돌림 궤적 반경은 최대 73%까지 감소함을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구 결과는 CNC 자동선반의 스핀들 고속화에 중요한 정보를 제공하고 있다.

Whirl Fire와 Pool fire의 화염 거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Flame Behavior of Whirl Eire and Pool Fire)

  • 4-panel of 1m height and 45cm width were fixed on the $40cm{\times}40cm$ bottom plate and the opening of the panel comer was 5cm. Diameter of stainless vessel is loom and its height is 2cm and it located at the center of the bottom plate. 78mL liquid fuel was filled in the vessel and its depth was 1cm. Flame temperature was measured with K type thermocouple, and radiation heat of flame was measured with heat flux meter. Flame height and its behavior was visualized with video camera. and mass burning rate was measured by fuel combustion time. According to the development of fire, flame swirling was begin. From the experiment the mass burning rate was larger and the height of flame was higher than the usual pool fire flame. Flame temperature and heat flux also increased far more than the pool fire. Consequently the swirling air flow through the openings between the panel and thermal buoyance contribute to increase of heat release rate, flame length and mass burning rate.

And, the steady state displacements of the rotor are compared with a variation in unbalance mass. Results show that the loci of rotating shaft considering unbalance forces and external compression forces are more severe in flutter motion than with only unbalance forces.

  • Rotordynamic analysis of a multistage turbine pump using finite element method is performed to investigate the effects of seal wear on its system behavior. Stiffness and damping coefficents of the 2-axial grooved bearing are obtained as functions of rotating speed. Stiffness and damping coefficients of plane annuler seals are calculated as functions of rotating speed as well as seal clearance of seals become larger, these stiffness and damping coefficients decrease drastically so that there can be significant changes in whirl natural frequencies and damping characteristics of the pump rotor system. Although a pump is designed to operate with a sufficient seperation margin from the 1st critical speed, seal wear due to long operation may cause a sudden increase in vibration amplitude by resonance shift and reduce seal damping capability.

A procedure is presented for dynamic modeling of rotor-bearing system which consist of shaft elements, rigid disk, flexible bearing and support structures. A finite element model including the effects of rotary inertia, shear deformation, gyroscopic moments is developed. Linear stiffness and damping coefficient are calculated for 3 lobe sleeve bearing. The whirl frequency, mode shape, stability and unbalance response of rotor system included effect of bearing coefficient and support structures are calculated.
