Wheel loader is one of the construction machinery capable of variety of tasks and the demand on functional diversity and structural reliability is growing. As a study on the optimal shape design of front axle for wheel loader through the design of experiments, this paper assessed the design parameters affecting the maximum stress. As a result, a value of 126.77 MPa of minimum stress was obtained, and optimal factors showed the values of w = 100.0 mm, ${\theta}=40^{\circ}$ and R = 118 mm. It showed an accuracy of 98.7% compared with the structural analysis.
Nowadays, the axle counter has been developed to the wide range of the track circuit blocks as well as the wheel detection device. The axle counter, as becoming an important device for the high speed railway, must be guaranteed in accordance with the safety. With considering the safety and the high speed, performance evaluation a wheel detection sensor is described in this paper. To increase the safety, digital proximity sensor instead of analog is employed in the wheel detection sensor. Therefor the wheel detection sensor can minimize noisy signals caused by the harsh railway environments. And, to meet the high speed railway requirements, the performance of the wheel detection sensor is also successfully verified using the speed simulator at the velocity 500Km/h.
In general, a brake system of axle for heavy duty machine as a wheel excavator makes use of wet-type multiple disk brakes. These disk bakes are very important parts of heavy duty machine because they are advanced in durability and braking power, and can be designed compactly. Thus, we designed and made wet-type multiple disk brakes of axle for the 14ton class wheel excavator to be localization of these imported all. These disk brakes were made a comparative test with the existing disk brakes by the SAE No.2 dynamometer, and the friction characteristics as dynamic and static friction coefficient and wear depth of friction paper were measured.
In this study, we have experimented with 9 players at the national delegate level. Although there were some differences in the average effects of 3 types of one-two straight movements after the application of wheel axle, there were no statistical differences in the case of surface reacting forces, electromyograms, and impact forces. When the right fist was impacted using the one-two straight movements and the wheel axle was applied with 3 segmentations, high impact forces were obtained for the pronation in the following order-72.01 $m/s^2$ (type 2), 70.93 $m/s^2$ (type 3), and 58.19 $m/s^2$ (type 1). Higher values of the surface reacting force were found for type 1 that did not exhibit pronation in the left foot, whereas in the case of the vertical direction of the right foot, type 2 with pronation exhibited higher values and impact forces. In the right electromyogram, high impact forces due to the activation of the muscular electric potential were obtained for lumbar erector (LE) spinae and triceps brachii (TB) with type 1; LE spina, latissimus dosi (LD), and upper trapezius (UT) with type 2; and brachioradialis (BR), UT, and rectus abdominal (RA) with type 3. Due to pronation and complex motions of the 3 pronation segmentations, the efficiency was higher for impacts due to one-two straight movements.
Railway wheel and axle are the most critical components in railway system. A wheel and axle failure can cause a derailment with its attendant loss of life and property. The service conditions of railway vehicles have become severe in recent years due to a general increase in operating speeds. Therefore, more precise evaluation of wheelset strength and safety has been desired. Damages of railway wheel are a spatting by wheel/rail contact and thermal crack by braking heat etc. One of the main source of damage is a residual stress. therefore it is important to evaluate exactly. A Residual stress of wheel is formed at the process of heat treatment when manufacturing. it is changed by contact stress developed by wheel/rail contact and thermal stress from heat induced in braking. The objective of this paper is to estimate the variation and magnitude of the residual stress of railway wheel.
The NDT(Non-Destructive Testing) is valid fur the defect detection of rolling stocks because it can be used to detect defects in invisible places. For example, in case of wheelsets fatigue cracks are initiated in the wheel seat that suffers from fretting fatigue damage. But the conventional ICFPD method can not be applied to detect such cracks in press-fit area of the axle by some technical problems. In this study, we introduced a new ICFPD (Induced Current Focusing Potential Drop) method that can be applied in press-fit area of the axle. And we performed the finite element analysis of the new ICFPD method using measured electromagnetic properties of the wheel and axle. It seems that our approach is very useful f3r the detection of defects in invisible places.
It is found that there are many serious errors in deriving the existing governing equations of motion for a wheel-axle set negotiating an arbitrarily changing radius curve by Vijay K. Garg and Rao V. Dukkipati. Among other things, despite the hypothesis on arbitrarily changing radius of curve, there had been no taking a time derivative of the radius R in the first half of the derivation. Even if the D'lambert force arising from the centrifugal acceleration of vehicle body or bogie was appropriately taken into account while calculating cant deficiency, it is unnecessarily duplicated in the force vectors of governing equations. The graphical model given in Fig. 5.15 is not enough to follow those developed expressions from both physical and structural points of view. Besides, there are some blunders in assigning plus or minus sign not to be regarded as simple typographic ones and similar mistakes are committed in deriving creep force expressions as in the case of a wheel-axle set on a tangent track.
For a driving vehicle, a self-excited vibration of a pair of steerable wheels about their steering axis accompanied by tramp is called shimmy. Shimmy is caused by the coupling effects of the complicated actions of wheel and tire and the tramp motion of front wheel axle. Because front axle is no longer used on passenger cars shimmy occurring is not considerable. But in commercial vehicles using front wheel axle suspension system shimmy should be considered in design process. In this paper, the model closed to a practical vehicle was developed to analyze the shimmy of a commercial vehicle, and the effects of various design parameters to shimmy were observed by dynamic simulation with multibody dynamics program, DADS. The validity of developed model and analysis results were verified by practical vehicle experiments.
Tire vibration modes are known to play a key role in vehicle ride and comfort characteristics. Inputs to the tire such as impacts, rough road surface, tire nonuniformities, and tread patterns can potentially excite tire vibration. In this study, experimental modal analysis on the tire with ground contact are performed by impacting the tire in the radial direction at the center of contact patch. To investigate which modes of tire influence the vibration of wheel and axle when the tire is in contact with ground, the vibration characteristics such as frequency response functions, natural frequencies and their mode shapes from tire to wheel/axle are examined.
Since the bi-modal tram is too long so that the traditional steering system controlled only the first axle increases its turning radius, it is not suitable to the domestic road environment. In addition, it become hard to make fine parking with the traditional steering system. To resolve the problem, the bi-modal tram requires an all wheel steering system (AWS) that the second axle is controlled by the first axle's degree and the velocity of vehicle, and the third axle is steered by the articulation angle's degree and the velocity of degree. This paper addresses the factors for the AWS ECU design, the strategies to solve the problems, the core technologies for the implementation, and also the outcomes and analysis of the performance evaluation of implemented system.
