Periodontal therapy for treatment of periodontitis involves the elimination of bacterial plaque and elimination of the anatomic defects by regenerative procedure. The purpose of this study was to evaluate on the biological effect of magnolia and Ginkgo biloba extract to the antimicrobial, antiinflammatory and cellular activity. Antimicrobial assay was performed with the diffusion method of the extract by measuring of growth inhibitory zone of B. cereus from blood agar plate. Effect of the extract to cellular activity of gingival fibroblast were examined using MTT method and measured the result with optical density on 570nm by ELISA reader. Inhibitory effects of $PGE_2$ production from gingival fibroblast was performed with the addition of $IL-l{\beta}$ and the extract to the well and examined to the product of $PGE_2$ from cell by ELISA reader. In vivo anti-inflammatory effect was performed with injection examined with clinically and histologically for their extent of mecrosis and inflammation. Antimicrobial activity of Magnolia extract showed significantly higher activity than that of control. However, GBE did not showed significant activity to compare with control, and mixture of Magnolia and GBE extract showed significantly higher activity than that of control. The effect of cellular activity to gingival fibroblast showed no significant differences of between control and Magnolia extract. However, GBE showed significantly higher rate of cellular activity to compare with control and even to PDGF-BB, and also showed same degree of cellular activity even though mixed with Magnolia extract. The inhibitory effect of $PGE_2$ production showed significantly reduction of $PGE_2$ production to compare with control, but its inhibitory effect was not much strong to compare with Indomethacin. In vivo, antiinflammatory effect of Magnolia extract to P. gingivalis injection of Hamster buccal check showed significantly reduction of inflammatory cell infiltration and tissue necrosis, but GBE showed no effect on the inhibition of inflammatory process. These results suggested that Magnolia and GBE extract possessed different kind of biological activity and also can be compensated on their activity with each other for elimination of bacterial plaque and anatonical defect.

Poly-acrylonitrile (PAN) based carbon fibers were stabilized under various tensions in the presence of air at about $200^{\circ}C$ and sequentially carbonized under some different gas environments in the range of 700 to $1500^{\circ}C$. The prepared carbon fibers were used for rechargeable lithium ion battery anode to investigate preparation parameters effects on electrochemical characteristics. It was found that the tension during stabilization, carbonization temperature and gas atmospheres affect the carbon fiber properties such as conductivity, mechanical strength, surface morphology and diffusion coefficient of lithium ion, which are closely related to the on electrolchemical properties as well as the charge/discharge characteristics.
Top spin valve films with PtMn antiferromagnetic layers were deposited using a multi-target dc magnetron sputtering in (100)Si substrates overcoated with 500 $\AA$ of Al$_2$O$_3$. Firstly, the post-deposition annealing was performed at 270$\^{C}$ in a unidirectional magnetic field of 3 kOe to induce the crystallographic transformation of the PtMn layer from a fcc (111) to a fct (111) structure. Secondly, the spin valve films were annealed without magnetic fields and magnetic properties were measured. In Si/A1$_2$O$_3$ (500$\AA$)/Ta(50$\AA$)NiFe(40$\AA$)/CoFe(17$\AA$)/Cu(28$\AA$)/CoFe (30$\AA$)PtMn(200$\AA$)Ta(50$\AA$) top spin valve samples, the MR ratio decreased slowly with increasing annealing temperature up to 325$\^{C}$. But above 325$\^{C}$, the MR ratio decreased rapidly to 1%, due to a collapse of the exchange coupling between a antiferromagnetic layer and a pinned layer with increasing annealing temperature. Also above 325$\^{C}$, the exchange biased field rapidly decreased and the interlayer coupling field rapidly increased with increasing annealing temperature. A change in the interlayer coupling field was resulted from the increase in interface roughness due to Mn-interdiffusion through the grain boundaries. We confirmed the temperature in changing magnetic properties agreed well with the blocking temperature of PtMn based spin valve structure.
The low-field tunnel-type magnetoresistance (MR) properties of sol-gel derived $La_{0.7}Pb_{0.3}MnO_3(LPMO)$ thin film deposited on different substrate have been investigated. Polycrystalline thin films were fabricated by spin-coating on $SiO_2/Si(100)$ substrate and that with yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) buffer layer, while c-axis-oriented thim film was grown on $LaAlO_3(001)$ (LAO) single crystal substrate. The full width half maximum (FWHM) of the rocking curve scan of LPMO/LAO film is $0.32^{\circ}$. Tunnel-type MR ratio is 0.52 % in $LPMO/SiO_2/Si$(100) film and that of $LPMO/YSZ/SiO_2/Si$(100) film is as high as 0.68 %, whereas that of LPMO/LAO(001) film is less than 0.4 % under the applied field of 500 Oe at 300 K. Well-pronounced MR hysteresis was registered with an MR peak in the vicinity of the coercive field. The low-field tunnel-type MR characteristics of thin films deposited on different substrates originates from the behavior of grain boundary properties.
The various environmental problems that we face on today are basically about environmental quality. Since early 1960s affluent material was produced because of remarkable economic growth by many cooperations. However, for the lack of environmental policy, environmental pollutions has been serious. The central government should transfer the producing and consuming structure to environmental affinity through the regulations for developing Korea as a model of environmental nation which takes an active part in global environmental programme and in which the environment and economy are well harmonized. Moreover, the central government should take the lead in prevention of environmental pollution through the direct policies such as strengthening the discharge limit or setting up environmental basic institutions by securing budget for conserving environment. This thesis emphasize on the public institution among many environmental basic institutions for environmental anti-pollution project. It will find the problems with running those institutions, and will suggest the preview of improvement. Also, it is necessary to investigate of variation trend for inflow and pollutant loading to environmental infrastructure as increased of the diffusion rate as established and maintenance of sewer system. The purpose of this study is to investigate for inflow and pollutant loading to environmental infrastructure, and also to provide the method of efficiently maintenance and management. The results obtained were summarized as follows; 1. Survey of actual condition on operation and management of environmental infrastructure was evaluated the propriety of treatment process and problem of plant management. 2. Analysis of pollutant loading contribution for river system of environmental infrastructure with data analysis of water quality measuring network. 3. To investigate on case study for efficiently maintenance and management of environmental infrastructure. The result on this study was provide the method of efficiently maintenance and management with survey for establish and repair of sewer system and survey of actual condition on operation and management of environmental infrastructure in the water area of discharge to Geum River System. Application as guideline for establish and management of environmental infrastructure, and management of Geum River System. Also, application for preliminary data for fulfill-assess of total effluent regulation of water pollution.
In recent years, phytoremediation, the use of plants to detoxify hydrocarbons, has been a promising new area of research, particularly in situ cleanup of large volumes of slightly contaminated soils. There is increasing need for a mathematical model that can be used as a predictive tool prior to actual field implementation of such a relatively new technique. Although a number of models exist for solute-plant interaction in the vegetated zone of soil, most of them have focused on ionic nutrients and some metals. In this study, we developed a mathematical model for simulation of bioremediation of hydrocarbons in soil, associated with plant root systems. The proposed model includes root interactions with soil-water and hydrocarbons in time and space, as well as advective and dispersive transport in unsaturated soil. The developed model considers gas phase diffusion and liquid-gas mass exchanges. For simulation of temporal and spatial changes in root behavior on soil-water and with hydrocarbons, time-specific distribution of root quantity through soil was incorporated into the simulation model. Hydrocarbon absorption and subsequent uptake into roots with water were simulated with empirical equations. In addition, microbial activity in the rhizosphere, a zone of unique interaction between roots and soil microorganisms, was modeled using a biofilm theory. This mathematical model for understanding and predicting fate and transport of compound in plant-aided remediation will assist effective application of plant-aided remediation to field contamination.
This study was conducted to investigate herbicidal efficacy and diffusibility of halosulfuron-methyl+mefenacet in water treated with 500 g great granule (GG) and 3 kg granule (GR). The 500 g GG was been spreading on the surface of the water within 6 minutes, 53 seconds, and it's active ingredient was diffused in the water bath of $10m^2$ size between 30 and 60 minutes. In addition, the diffusion of 500 g GG was influenced by moisture contents, so it have to immediately use 500 g GG in paddy fields when it was been unpacked. The herbicidal efficacy of the 500 g GG and 3 kg GR of halosulfuron-methyl+mefenacet was excellent to most weed species, but showed different efficacy for the control of Aneilema keisak and Scirpus juncoides, that was may be distribution pattern of active ingredient as different formulation.

Two experiments were conducted to investigate the potential for Forsythia suspensa extract (FSE) to substitute for antibiotic in broiler chicken. First, a well-diffusion assay procedure and a 2-fold dilution method were used to determine the bacteriostatic activity of FSE on Escherichia coli K88, staphylococcus aureus, and salmonella was assayed. An inhibitory effect of FSE was observed on the growth of these bacteria. This effect seems to be dose depended, which disappeared after 25.00, 12.50, 1.56 mg/ml. Second, a 42-d trial with 252 broiler chickens (d 1, $38.7{\pm}1.1$ g BW) was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of FSE in broiler chicken. The feeding program consisted of a starter diet from d 1 to 21 and a finisher diet from d 22 to 42. Dietary treatments included were: i) NC: negative control fed a corn-soybean meal based diet; ii) PC: positive control group fed based diet with chlortetracycline; and iii) FC: a test group fed with 100 mg FSE/kg diet. In this study growth performance did not differ among treatments during the starter period. However, dietary supplemental chlortetracycline and FSE increased (p<0.05) average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI) compared with NC during the finisher and overall phase. Apparent digestibility of calcium on d 21, digestibility of energy and calcium on d 42 of FC was greater (p<0.05) than NC. Moreover, cecal Escherichia coli counts for birds from FC were lower (p<0.05) than NC. Dietary FSE supplementation also improved (p<0.05) villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratios in both duodenum and ileum and decreased (p<0.05) crypt depth in the duodenum. Duodenum villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in both duodenum and ileum from the FC group were also greater (p<0.05). Serum growth hormone and IGF-1 were not influenced by different treatments. Apparently, FSE has the potential to substitute for antibiotic in broiler chicken.

Indium-Tin Oxide (ITO) films were prepared on the commercial glass substrate by the Magnetron Sputtering method. The target was a 90wt.% $In_2O_3$-10wt.% $SnO_2$with 99.99% purity. The ITO films deposited by changing the partial pressure of oxygen gas ($O_2$/(Ar+$O_2$)) of 2, 3 and 5% as well as by changing the substrate temperature of $300^{\circ}C$ or $500^{\circ}C$. The influence of substrate pre-annealing and pre-cleaning on the quality of ITO film were examined, in which the substrate temperature was $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure was 3%. The characteristics of films were examined by the 4-point probe, Hall effect measurement system, SEM, AFM, Spectrophotometer, and X-ray diffraction. The optimum ITO films have been obtained when the substrate temperature is $500^{\circ}C$ and oxygen partial pressure is 3%. At optimum condition, the film showed transmittance of 81%, sheet resistivity of $226\Omegatextrm{cm}^2$, resistivity($\rho$) of $5.4\times10^{-3}\Omega$cm, carrier concentration of $1.0\times10^{19}cm^{-3}$, and carrier mobility of $150textrm{cm}^2$Vsec. From XRD spectrum, c(222) plane was dominant in the case of substrate temperature at $300^{\circ}C$, without regarding to oxygen partial pressure. However, in the case of substrate temperature at $500^{\circ}C$, c(400) plane was grown together with c(222) plane, only for oxygen partial pressure of 2 and 3%. In both case of chemical and ultrasonic cleaning without pre-annealing the substrate, it showed much almost same sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transmittance, carrier concentration, and carrier mobility. In case of $500^{\circ}C$/60min pre-annealing before ITO film deposited, both transimittance and carrier mobility are better than no pre-annealing, because pre-annealing is supposed to remove alkari ions diffusion from substrate. ITO film deposited on the Corning 0080 sybstrate showed a little bit better sheet resistivity, resistivity($\rho$), transimittance, carrier concentration than the film deposited on commercial glass. But no differences between Corning substrate and pre-annealed commercial glass substrate are found.
The availability and efficient use of the feed resources in Asia are the primary drivers of performance to maximise productivity from animals. Feed security is fundamental to the management, extent of use, conservation and intensification for productivity enhancement. The awesome reality is that current supplies of animal proteins are inadequate to meet human requirements in the face of rapidly depleting resources: arable land, water, fossil fuels, nitrogenous and other fertilisers, and decreased supplies of cereal grains. The contribution of the ruminant sector lags well behind that of non-ruminant pigs and poultry. It is compelling therefore to shift priority for the development of ruminants (buffaloes, cattle, goats and sheep) in key agro-ecological zones (AEZs), making intensive use of the available biomass from the forage resources, crop residues, agro-industrial by-products (AIBP) and other non-conventional feed resources (NCFR). Definitions are given of successful and failed projects on feed resource use. These were used to analyse 12 case studies, which indicated the value of strong participatory efforts with farmers, empowerment, and the benefits from animals of productivity-enhancing technologies and integrated natural resource management (NRM). However, wider replication and scaling up were inadequate in project formulation, including systems methodologies that promoted technology adoption. There was overwhelming emphasis on component technology applications that were duplicated across countries, often wasteful, the results and relevance of which were not clear. Technology delivery via the traditional model of research-extension linkage was also inadequate, and needs to be expanded to participatory research-extension-farmer linkages to accelerate diffusion of technologies, wider adoption and impacts. Other major limitations concerned with feed resource use are failure to view this issue from a farming systems perspective, strong disciplinary bias, and poor links to real farm situations. It is suggested that improved efficiency in feed resource use and increased productivity from animals in the future needs to be cognisant of nine strategies. These include priorities for feed resource use; promoting intensive use of crop residues; intensification of integrated ruminant-oil palm systems and use of oil palm by-products; priority for urgent, wider technology application, adoption and scaling up; rigorous application of systems methodologies; development of adaptation and mitigation options for the effects of climate change on feed resources; strengthening research-extension-farmer linkages; development of year round feeding systems; and striving for sustainability of integrated farming systems. These strategies together form the challenges for the future.
