A generalization of one machine maximum lateness minimization problem is considered. There are one achine with controllable speed and n weighting jobs $J_{j}$, j=1, 2, ..., n with ambiguous duedates. Introducing fuzzy formulation, a membership function of the duedate associated with each job $J_{j}$, which describes the satisfaction level with respect to completion time of $J_{j}$. Thus the duedates are not constants as in conventional scheduling problems but decision variables reflecting the fuzzy circumstance of the job completing. We develop the polynomial time algorithm to find an optimal schedule and jobwise machine speeds, and to minimize the total sum of costs associated with jobwise machine speeds and dissatisfaction with respect to completion times of weighting jobs. jobs.
Generally, While position type fuzzy controller has good performance in transient period, it has uniform steady state error of response. While velocity type fuzzy controller is capable of reducing steady state error of response, it is hard to develop the performance in transient period. In order to have both good performance in transient period and ability to reduce the steady state error of response, weighting fuzzy controller, which is composed of these two fuzzy controllers, is proposed. For the decision of weight to each fuzzy controller, Weighting fuzzy set is established according to the system state variables and applied to each fuzzy controller. The proposed weighted fuzzy controller has the merits of both position type fuzzy controller and velocity type fuzzy controller simultaneously.

A numerical optimization has been carried out to determine the shape of the three-dimensional channel with oblique ribs attached on both walls to enhance turbulent heat transfer. The response surface based optimization is used as an optimization technique with Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes analysis of fluid flow and heat transfer. Shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model is used as a turbulence closure. Numerical results fur heat transfer rate show good agreements with experimental data. four dimensionless variables such as, rib pitch-to-rib height ratio, rib height-to-channel height ratio, streamwise rib distance on opposite wall to rib pitch ratio, and the attack angle of the rib are chosen as design variables. The objective function is defined as a linear combination of heat-transfer and friction-loss related coefficients with a weighting factor. D-optimal method is used to determine the training points as a means of design of experiment. Sensitivity of the objective parameters to each design variable has been analyzed. And, optimal values of the design variables have been obtained in a range of the weighting factor.

The useful method for determining parameters of weighting functions used to design the $H_{\infty}$ current controller for attenuating the current ripple due to saliencies which SPMSM(Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) also incorporates is described. To analyze the effect, the current ripple due to the structural and the saturation saliencies, the SPMSM model with nonlinear inductance function depending on the two independent variables, rotor position and stator current is simulated. After analysis, parameters of the weighting functions for $H_{\infty}$ current controller is selected to satisfy the robust stability, robust performance and specific performance in time and frequency domain by using the PSO(Particle Swarm Optimization) algorithm in the linear SPMSM model. Especially, the robust performance is proved that the selected weighting functions play a role in reducing the current ripple caused by the saliencies of SPMSM at the desired frequency range by the simple experiment.

In general, the stability and response characteristics of the system can be improved by changing the pole position because a nonlinear system can be linearized by the product of a 1st and 2nd order system. Therefore, a controller that moves the pole can be designed in various ways. Among the other methods, LQ control ensures the stability of the system. On the other hand, it is difficult to specify the location of the pole arbitrarily because the desired response characteristic is obtained by selecting the weighting matrix by trial and error. This paper evaluated a method of selecting a weighting matrix of LQ control that moves multiple double poles with Jordan blocks to real poles. The relational equation between the double poles and weighting matrices were derived from the characteristic equation of the Hamiltonian system with a diagonal control weighting matrix and a state weighting matrix represented by two variables (ρd, ϕd). The Moving-Range was obtained under the condition that the state-weighting matrix becomes a positive semi-definite matrix. This paper proposes a method of selecting poles in this range and calculating the weighting matrices by the relational equation. Numerical examples are presented to show the usefulness of the proposed method.

Although translational research is referred to clinical chemistry measures, correct weighting factors for linear and quadratic calibration curves with least-squares regression algorithm have not been carefully considered in bioanalytical assays yet. The objective of this study was to identify steroidogenic roles in preeclampsia and verify accuracy of quantitative results by comparing two different linear regression models with weighting factor of 1 and 1/x2. A liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS)-based adrenal steroid assay was conducted to reveal metabolic signatures of preeclampsia in both serum and placenta samples obtained 15 preeclamptic patients and 17 age-matched control pregnant women (33.9 ± 4.2 vs. 32.8 ± 5.6 yr, respectively) at 34~36 gestational weeks. Percent biases in the unweighted model (wi = 1) were inversely proportional to concentrations (-739.4 ~ 852.9%) while those of weighted regression (wi = 1/x2) were < 18% for all variables. The optimized LC-MS combined with the weighted linear regression resulted in significantly increased maternal serum levels of pregnenolone, 21-deoxycortisol, and tetrahydrocortisone (P < 0.05 for all) in preeclampsia. Serum metabolic ratio of (tetrahydrocortisol + allo-tetrahydrocortisol) / tetrahydrocortisone indicating 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 2 was decreased (P < 0.005) in patients. In placenta, local concentrations of androstenedione were changed while its metabolic ratio to 17α-hydroxyprogesterone responsible for 17,20-lyase activity was significantly decreased in patients (P = 0.002). The current bioanalytical LC-MS assay with corrected weighting factor of 1/x2 may provide reliable and accurate quantitative outcomes, suggesting altered steroidogenesis in preeclampsia patients at late gestational weeks in the third trimester.
The construction of composite indicators should be normalized and weighted to render them comparable and evaluable variables in the field, which undergoes absence of a distinct methodology and where the application of universally popular method is common. Constructing of indices does not compare and analyze applying various normalizing and weighting, but constructer generally use chosen method and develops indicators and indices in most research. In this study, indices are applied various normalization and weighting methods, thereby analyzing how much impact the index and identifying individual characteristics derive a more reasonable way to help other research in the future. 5 different methods of normalization and 4 different types of weights were compared and analyzed. There are different results depending applied normalized methods and Z-score method best reflects the characteristics of the variables. According to weighting methods, the calculated results show little difference, but the ranking results of indices did not changed significantly. It might be better to provide constructors with a set of normalization and weighting methods to reflect their characteristics in order to build flood indices through the result of this study.

This study was performed to propose the site selection plan for the restoration of the target Narrow-mouth Frog(Kaloula borealis) habitat, and has developed the AHP model to select the optimal site for narrow-mouth frog habitat restoration on the basis of the narrow-mouth frog Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) items (factors and variables). The assessment areas were established by the narrow-mouth frog HSI factors such as space, feed, cover, water(breeding), threatening factors and others, and the sub-assessment items by each assessment area were established based on the narrow-mouth frog HSI variables. The weighting values of the assessment areas and items were calculated by the developed AHP method. The weighting values of the 5 assessment areas were arranged in order as cover(0.283), water(breeding)(0.276), feed(0.230), space(0.147), and threatening factor(0.064). The final weighting values of the 14 assessment items were arranged in order of height as low-rise grassland(0.190), soil quality(0.178), and stones and between the stones(0.105). The scoring criteria according to the assessment items and factors were marked and applied by equal intervals considering the criteria by HSI items of the narrow-mouth frog and finally the scoring criteria diagram has been proposed for the optimal site selection of the narrow-mouth frog habitat restoration.

Many existing studies have found significant correlations between green spaces, including urban parks, and children's happiness. Furthermore, it was implied that the area/proximity of the urban park would be effective in enhancing infancy happiness. However, inferring causal effects from observed data requires appropriate adjustment of confounding variables, and from this perspective, the causal relationship between the area of urban parks and children's happiness has not been well understood. The causal effect of urban parks on children's happiness was estimated in this study using data from the panel study on Korean children. As methods for adjusting confounding variables, regression adjustment using a regression method, weighting method, and matching method were used, and key concepts of each method were described before the analysis results. Confounders were chosen for the analysis using a directed acyclic graph. In contrast to previous research, the analysis found no significant causal relationship between the size of the city park and children's happiness.
