The Need for Web Style Guide and a case study of this the Development in the Domestic University Web sites (국내 대학 웹사이트에서 스타일 가이드의 필요성과 개발 사례 분석)

  • From the early period of web design, there has discussed the need for style guide. But, it has not known specifically 'what it is' and 'how it should be applied'in the actual situation. Most web sites seem to be considered as 'would-be-same or similar'in those impressions. In case of domestic companies or corporations, the development of web style guide has been established, in addition to the trials to adopt Cl(corperate identity) into the web sites. In the universities, with the advent of the era of unlimited competitions among the universities, the need and the importance of web sites has been increasingly emphasized because most internet users, teenagers and twenties, have great interests in the universities and they actually constitute the university societies. But, in reality, the effort to adopt Ul(university identity) into the web sites has left so much to be desired. As one methodology, reflecting the characteristics of the university web sites and the financial reasons, it is assorted that the development of 'web style guide'is urgent. This report explains web style guide and its importance, in addition to the suggestion for the development of web style guide for the domestic university.

  • This study analyzed the web style guide of five foreign university library web sites and extracted the web site components of main university libraries in ten domestic areas and then drew the common factors from the components. This study also found out the unity and rule in the general design trends of university library web sites. In order to do this, the results for the usability and accessibility of university library web sites were applied to this study. And being based on it. this study presents the web style guide components of the university libraries which are the factors to endow the web site with the consistently visual identity.

  • N-Screen era is held due to the cloud computing technology which access to contents anytime, anywhere without any persistent. In the broadcast industry, this broadcast contents is rapidly serviced by variety of media devices such as PC, Smart phone, Tablet, App, IPTV. To Increase the usefulness and usability of the platform, same brand identity have to be maintain by devices and integrated guide which can encompass a variety of media are needed. This study tries to figure out the need of New Media Style Guide to keep brand identity in a variety of new media beyond previously Web style guide which limited in the Web pages. First, Integrated Guide GEL of BBC's and Web style guide of KBS was analyzed. Through the analysis it was found that the limitations and problem of the current web style guide and then suggested the improvement direction. In addition, this study tried to find which design elements should be made for new media style guides through in-depth interview with practitioners who work in broadcast media industry for more than three years. Through the research it was understood the current status of integrated brand identity and found a way to improve forward to new media platforms of KBS.

  • This study is creating furniture design strategies that can upgrade the library function. Today, everyday life is in very strong relationship with the library. In most cases, however, to focus on building libraries. In fact, Because users are living libraries inside the building was in contact with furniture. The selection of furniture and design library is very important. The first thing the process of study, research purposes, surf the web and through a literature search for the second time, and refers to cases examined, and analyzes more than libraries. Furniture Design strategies. The study's conclusion can be summarized as follows. Direction of Library Furniture Design 'identity or symbolism', 'flexibility', 'sustainability', 'charm', 'hybrid' to clean up. And propose a design guide, showing specific examples.

  • Curriculum can represent the identity of University as an important factor, and especially university has sole power to design and manage his curriculum. So, the information literacy curriculum which teach students to create, store, communicate their knowledge is very important position in the liberal arts curriculum. Thus, this study designs the reference model as 3-dimensional cubic model for information literacy curriculum to help curriculum designers design, manage, and evaluate it. For developing this model, I researched many books and web sites about some of domestic and U.S. universities' curriculums, and made up some questionnaires about students' satisfaction and the direction of information literacy education. An information literacy curriculum was designed using this reference model and lots of students are satisfied with this curriculum after activating in this class. Designed cubic reference model which has a characteristic to expose flexible and systematic context representation in the university curriculum can guide researchers to design, manage, and evaluate information literacy curriculum.
