The Prevalence of Behavioral Disorders in Non-racehorses at Busan Race Park (부산경남경마공원 비경주마의 행동장애 유형)

  • This study was conducted on 85 non-racing pleasure horses raised in Busan race park of Korea Racing Authority to investigate the prevalence of stereotypic behavioral problems in horses. the observation had been continued from March to October of 2010, and the study animals included warm-bloods, Jeju ponies and donkeys. Although there was no temperament problem detected, a wide range of well-known stable vices were observed in 15 horses. The most frequently observed stereotype was cribbing (8.2%), and it was followed by weaving (1.2%), biting (1.2%), eating too fast (1.2%), pawing (1.2%) and scraping the teeth on something (1.2%) with the equal prevalence rate. These behavioral disorders were only detected in warm-bloods, while those were absent in Jeju ponies and donkeys. In addition, primary behavioral disorders were more dominant than mimicking behaviors.

  • This study was conducted on the costume of the 6 minorities dwelling in Guizhou Province of China. The result of the study is summarized as follows. As Guizhou Province yields much silver, most of the minorities used silver ornaments a lot and dyed their garments by using indigo extracted from plants that grow in the area. The headdress was of style that for both men and women a long cloth is wound around a head in various ways. In some cases, women used cow's horn, pearl and silver ornaments. Most wore a short upper garment such as blouses with overlapping necks or blouses with diagonal on the front, and as a lower garment men and women wore trousers and skirts, respectively. As a way of ornament, embroidering, wax printing and weaving were commonly used, but pattern and color used in the ornament varied depending on the individual minorities.

Effect of the Projectile and the Air-jet Weaving Machine Characteristics on the Physical Properties of Worsted Fabrics for Garment(I) -Tension Characteristics & Loom Mechanism- (프로젝타일과 에어제트 직기특성이 의류용 모직물 물성에 미치는 영향(I) - 장력특성과 직기 메커니즘 -)

  • This study surveys the warp and weft tension differences between projectile and air-jet looms and analyses the mechanical properties of worsted fabrics for garment with relation of these loom characteristics using KES-FB system. The paper is divided by two parts. In the 1st paper, the worsted fabric is woven as 5 harness satin weave using 1/40 Nm sirofil worsted warp yarn and 1/30 Nm worsted weft yarn by projectile(Sulzer) and air-jet looms(Picanol PAT and OMNI), respectively. The weavability is also analysed by measuring warp tension variation according to the warp position and weft tension of 3 kinds of looms. The relationship between shed amount and the warp tension is surveyed, and the relationship between end breaks and warp and weft tensions is also discussed.

  • This study surveys the warp and weft tension differences among 3 types of rapier looms and analyses the mechanical properties of worsted fabrics for garment with relation of these looms characteristics using KES-FB system.   • Silk fabrics are very popular and widely used because of their elegant appearance. However, silk fabrics generally have easy wrinkle, and do not stretch and deform permanently after machine washing. Then the stretched properties of silk fabrics are important for the application of industrial textile materials such as formal and sports wear. Thus, this research surveys the covering, weaving and degumming conditions for stretched silk fabrics. As a result, yarn breaking stress was reduced with increasing spindle speed, and the yarn twists were optimized under the covering condition of polyurethane/silk with PVA pretreatment. In addition, the shrinkage of the silk fabrics treated with star degumming process was reduced by continuous NaOH degumming process. The fabrics showed the fabric physical properties with optimum stretched properties and evenness surfaces.

  • 영역지향 프로그래밍(Aspect-Oriented Programming)은 소프트웨어의 성능을 향상시키고 유지보수에 많은 이점을 가지는 새로운 프로그래밍 방법론이다. 하지만 영역지향 프로그래밍 방법으로 소프트웨어를 개발하기 위해서는 Aspect를 지원하는 새로운 영역지향 프로그래밍 언어를 사용하거나 레거시 시스템에 Aspect를 적용할 경우에 소스코드의 재 컴파일등과 같은 문제점을 가지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 레거시 시스템에 Aspect를 동적으로 결합할 수 있는 동적결합 메커니즘을 제안한다. 이를 위하여 Aspect의 행위와 결합 정보를 가지는 Connector를 생성하고, 생성된 Connector는 코어클래스의 위임자로서 역할을 수행하게 되는 동적결합 가능하게 하는 메커니즘을 제안한다.

A Study on the Cultural Symbolism of the Chilkat Blanket (칠카트 블랭킷의 문화적 상징성에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this research is to reveal that the clothing in a cultural system is a visual symbol expressing the aspects of its technology, social-structure, and ideology. For this, the chilkat blanket of Tlingit is selected and analyzed. Tlingit is the one of the indian tribes of the Northwest Coast of the North America. This chilkat blanket used as an ostentatious item in the potlatch has the various functions. First, it expresses the thechnological features in this society, as the process of weaving, collecting of materials, etc. Second, it provides the view of the social-structure through its role differntiation of sex, and affirmation of the rank systems in this cultural system. And we can see the ideological value of this culture through the chilkat blanket. They persuit the value of labor and the harmony between their lives and the nature in this design. In conclusion, the clothing must be considered and analysed its value in the context of the society.

A Study and Investigation on the Influence of Static and Dynamic Loading on the Properties of Handmade Persian Carpet (I) - The Effect of Static Loading -

  • The paper reports the physical and mechanical properties of hand-woven carpets, which have been put under static force. Two groups of wool fibres, from two parts of Iran, were prepared to spin pile yams for the carpets. Each group of the fibres included both conventional and tanned wool. Then two yam counts, $N_m$ = 4/2 and 6/2, were spun for two different knot densities. After weaving the carpets, they were put under static force and their thickness variations were measured and plotted against time, in logarithm scale. The resiliency of the carpets piles after eliminating the static force, were measured and plotted against time, in logarithm scale, too. The results were compared to each other and analysed with respect to parameters such as the type and quality of the wool fibres as well as knot density of the carpets.

  • This paper deals with the design and analysis of a beating cam. The beating device of a high speed rapier loom, weaving fabric by completion of warp-weft patterns, is driven by double cam type on the same axis. As the double cam, coupled with two cams, performs the mutual conjugate motion, the double cam must be very preciously designed for smooth. For the shape design of a double cam, an instant velocity center method is proposed. This method can determine the cam profile from the contact conditions of the cam and roller follower and the velocity relationships at the instant velocity center. And the practical applicability was verified by developing “DISKCAM of a CAD program. As the results in this paper, the shapes of two cams, which are in the conjugate motion, are designed by instant velocity center method. We applied 8-order polynominals for the beating as displace¬ment curves for shape determination of double cams. The data of displacement, velocity, and acceleration of beating cam can be used adjust in accurate operation and to develope an advanced beating device.

  • Due to of high intensity, lower noise and easy controllability of the heat, induction heating system became well known. Induction heating method has been suggested as substitute for the gas heat source and adopted in the automation of curved hull forming system. In this study, an investigation was accomplished to find the effects on the change of material properties when the induction heating was applied on the mild steel plate. Plates were heated using weaving method to get sufficiently heat affected zone and then cooled with water or in the air. The mechanical properties of the heated plate were evaluated. As results, the tensile test, impact test and microstructures satisfied the class rule.
