In spite of the bad conditions of fashion companies: the number of licit wear consumers in Korea are increasing because knit wear gives a body with an comfort action. Domestic knit wear industry, however, doesn't have any standard fur satisfying consumers'needs and for quality estimation on that. So we examined the knit wearers'conception of the quality to broaden the knowledge of knit wear and produce better products. The purpose of this study was to find out the factors of wearer's perception. This study carried out through a qualitative approach. The subject of this study were 17 single women who were 20's and living in Seoul and Kyoungki province. The item of this questionary was as follow: 1) what they know about knit wear and how much they are satisfied with that 2) what the wearers think the problems of knit wear are 3) how knitted wear industry can satisfy consumers's needs and take into account consumer feedback in product development The results of this study were summarized as follows. 1. The wearers had no knowledge about materials, sewing methods, patterns, knitting methods, and gage. 2 The wearers didn't recognize the differences between the products by famous brand and obscure conventional market. For that reason, the high price knit wear wont satisfy wearer. 3. The wearers didn't prefer the revealing their body shapes. 4. Laundering was the big problem which was they chosen the knit wear. They take it for granted that the knit wear needs dry-cleaning or hand-washing. Knit wear industry tries to make it easy laundering by development knit material.

This study suggests a new perspective for designing men's tailored jackets by more carefully considering human muscle structure. For this study, we examined research regarding the construction of the tailored jacket that is based on costume history references, as well as research regarding human muscle structure that is based on human anatomy references and the analysis of recent fashion designs illustrating the human body image. Based on this research, we developed various tailored constructions that account for human muscle structure. These constructions are applied primarily to the backs of four tailored jackets, as the back of the jacket needs a mechanism to accommodate the wearer's movement. The following conclusions have been derived from the study: First, by developing the tailored garment structure that accounts for the muscle structure of the human body, we suggest a new design direction for tailored garments. Second, we propose a new type of tailored jacket structure for the back of the jacket that incorporates an artificial muscle structure to accommodate the wearer's activities. This new type of jacket indicates the potential for designs that use structure, particularly the structure of the human body. Finally, by using the embroidery technique, we changed the texture of the material into the shape of human muscle. Thus, we propose a design that uses three-dimensional volume to accounts for the shape of human body tissue.

Traffic police officers are faced with many dangerous accidents due to outside duties on roads. Yet, researches on traffic officers' uniforms have mainly been focused on design aspects rather than functional aspects. This study therefore aims to figure out traffic officers' perceived needs for their uniforms and to offer some basic guidelines in manufacturing versatile safety vests for wearers. The study used a documentary survey replied by 236 traffic officers. The results of the study are as follows: 1. There are 10 different types of vests currently used by traffic officers. Vests are employed for purposes such as carrying police equipments, enabling officers to be noticeable in dark, protecting the body, etc. 2. Officers wear these vests which were officially designated by law. Among them, fluorescence versatile safety vests were most frequently worn by officers. 3. Officers who wore ready-made vests of which size was already determined, tended to perceive that the vests were relatively larger than their own size. 4. In terms of the functions of the vests, officers expressed needs for the improvement of the LED and retro-reflection tape along with the addition of thermal function to existing vests. The improvement of the form and functions of versatile safety vests which reflect needs of the users will boost the dignity and the sense of duty of the traffic police officers.

The purpose of this study was to delve into what type of expression mode of fashion design could suit the life style of digital nomads, as the appearance of nomadic life style was concurrent with people's modified way of thinking and sociocultural changes in today's digital society. It's basically meant to define the roles of fashion design, which was discussed as a way of improving the quality of life as a sort of 'culture,' and to suggest some of the right directions for fashion design in the future. The culture of today's digital era is marked by a pursuit of high mobility and high speed, and by nomadic disposition that is built on flexible thinking. The kind of design that lets people carry nomadic things with them and thereby improve their mobility can satisfy their needs for mobility, and body-friendly design that functions as a device of information in itself can meet their needs for mobility as well. The leading example of the latter is a wearable computer, and wearable scientific technology will be taken to another level, thanks to the advance in digital technology. In the future, that will be more accessible to people in general, and subminiature digital equipment will gain popularity in fashion industry as part of textiles and clothing or as an accessory. And specific kinds of design will be widespread, including variable design, multi-functional design and modular design. The first serves as a tool to protect the human body and to facilitate the adaptability of it to the given circumstances, and the second is characterized by a superb physical and psychological protectability. The third lets wearers bring design to completion at their own option, owing to an increase in the number of open-minded people and the development of interactive media. All these types of design could be called a wearer-friendly, human-oriented design that is specifically appropriate for the digital age. Wearers can actively be involved in design process as productive consumers, which is expected to help increase opener practices in fashion design sector.

This study developed brassieres using a suspension system with the elastic panel on the inside of the brassiere cup to replace the wires for 20s women with large and elongated breasts. The following results were obtained by analyzing clothing pressure and a subjective evaluation of brassieres with elastic panels at the bottom or side of the various reduction ratios and with the shoulder straps of the brassiere. Brassieres with dual panels (rather than with only the bottom panel) lowered clothing pressure as well as improved wearing comfort and function. Compared to brassieres with a panel of 10%, brassieres with a panel of 15% lowered clothing pressure and provided superior wearing comfort. In this case, the higher the reduction ratio of the side panels increased clothing pressure on the shoulder, but provided superior well-fit, bust-up, and vibration restraint. To reduce the reduction ratio of the side panel decreased clothing pressure on the shoulder and decreased support functions. Therefore, the reduction ratio of the side panels should be determined by preferable functions such as wearing comfort that depend on the needs of the wearer. It is suggested that a brassiere with a dual elastic panel can replace the brassiere wire.

The recent fashion market failed to satisfy the needs of female customers in their 30s who are demanding a slim jacket that makes the wearer look young and slim. Accordingly, the slim-fit jackets of domestic brands targeting the women in their 30s were collected to conduct look and movement fitting evaluations based on the standard somatotype, and a slim-fit tailored jacket prototype was developed based on the present findings. This research aims to increase the satisfaction level of the slim-fit jacket customers reflecting a variety of somatotypes of women in their 30s. The research process was developing jacket patterns fully reflecting the properties in terms of extra space and design lines for different somatotypes of women in their 30s based on the jacket pattern formulated through the advanced research, and then suggesting pattern design methods for the different somatotypes. In this sense, this research attempted to identify the problems concerning the slim-fit tailored jacket fitting for different somatotypes of women in their 30s. The main aim was to suggest ways to improve the customers' satisfaction level regarding the fit, and enable the manufacturers to produce a well-fitting jacket reflecting the peculiarities of each somatotype.

This study attempted to investigate what kind of perception people in their 20s have about masks and to find out the characteristics of each type by categorizing the perception. The Q methodology was used for the study. The cognition types of masks were categorized into three. Type 1 was a 'always wear impact-important type' that always wears masks and thinks masks affect non-verbal communication and the wearer's image. Type 2 was a 'function-important negative recognition type' that wears masks to prevent germs and thinks that masks have a great negative impact. Type 3 was a 'concealment wear positive image type' that wears a mask to cover the face and thinks that a person looks young when wearing a mask. It is thought that the development of masks of various designs and functions reflecting the needs of consumers should be carried out. Also, it is thought that various products should be developed and sold so that consumers can choose according to important considerations such as design, fit, and function.

The wearable technology takes the concept of clothing over its limits -integrating software, communication devices, and sensors into the garments to enable them to 'think' for the wearer. A dress is no longer just a dress, but a dress as well as a wearable computer interface. This wearable computer network transports the data power and control signals within the wearer's personal space. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the wearable technology from a commercial perspective. On this theme I made a survey and interviewed 20 men and 20 women in London to find out if many people are familiar with the concept of the wearable technology. The main results of this study include: Firstly, according to the survey, people are not familiar with the concept of the wearable technology, and further people thought negatively about the wearable computer rather than positively they worried about hish prices, inappropriate technology and side effects. Secondly, people are especially interested in items related to health and security, so in this area there are huge potential opportunities for the wearable technology, Finally, wearable technology needs to be a simplified set of interactive devices, which are in a user friendly format for marketability because convenience was one of the biggest concern for consumers. Therefore, development of the wearable computer should be promoted not only through computer engineering but also through the connection with human lift.

This study developed smart fashion prototypes that provide utilitarian functionality by combining Fashion and Electronics regarding the IT focused convergence tendency in modern industries. A convergence R&D workshop was performed by Fashion design majors and Engineering majors for the study. As a result, 5 functional smart fashion prototypes were developed and the outline of each prototype are as follows. The $1^{st}$ prototype, 'Hidden Camera Detecting Coat' focused on gender-related crimes. The coat uses infrared lighting and LED technologies to provide a function to detect hidden cameras in suspicious public spaces such as toilets. The $2^{nd}$ prototype, 'Heating-massage Suit' targeted patients with musculoskeletal system difficulties. The suit uses heating and vibration technologies to provide a heating massage treatment for patients with ongoing difficulties in their daily lives. The $3^{rd}$ prototype is an air-bag jacket to prevent sexual molestation on public transportation. The jacket extends its volume through pressure sensing, air compressing, motors and 3D-printing technology to secure the wearer's personal preventive space between the user's body and others. The $4^{th}$ prototype is a town wear for people suffering from synesthesia. People with synesthesia inadvertently see colors when exposed to certain sounds. This town wear uses sound sensing, air compressing, motors and 3D-printing technology to provide sound prevention and a comfortable sound playing function. The $5^{th}$ prototype is a set of a vest and a gloves for visually impaired people. The vest and gloves uses DMS, voice playing, vibration technology to provide distance measuring and warning functions.

This research aims to analyze the prep-hop fashion, which is an original look created through the convergence of the hip-hop and preppy look, and identify the design characteristics of the prep-hop fashion. The style mixes the fashion of what was traditionally a lower-class look with the upper class. The design characteristics are as follows: First, the prep-hop fashion expresses slim, casual and sophisticated look with items and silhouettes. The items are categorized into jackets, shirts and pants. The prep-hop jackets provides a casual look to its wearer unlike the jackets of preppy or conservative looks. Slim suits show different meanings and features depending on the changes in the time and culture despite the continued use of the items. Second, the colors of the prep-hop fashion include overall basic colors used in the preppy look and hip-hop fashion. The aesthetic values of the colors express pleasant color images different from the conservative and resistant images expressed in the preppy and hip-hop style before the convergence, respectively. Third, the materials and patterns are expressed in a unique way to fulfill the emotional needs that are considered vital to contemporary fashion. The materials in the prep-hop fashion extend the ranges of usage by using the materials with unexpectedness broken out of general range of usage. While the use of the patterns is one of the methods to demonstrate that the prep-hop fashion is created by the convergence between hip-hop fashion and preppy look, the meaning concludes pleasantness and casualness different from the past. Fourth, the prep-hop fashion is mainly composed of hip-hop fashion accessories, which express the authenticity of the hip-hop fashion to protect the non-mainstream characteristics. The design characteristics of the prep-hop fashion pursue the individuality of the contemporary fashion, which lacks originality due to commercialization. The development of the prep-hop fashion, as a new form that combined contrasting genres and trends, is expected to develop more publicly.
