Video Watermarking Using Human Visual System and Wavelet Transform (인간 시각 시스템 및 웨이블릿 변환을 이용한 비디오 워터마킹)

  • A digital video watermarking algorithm is proposed that uses HVS and DWT. In this algorithm, each video frame is decomposed into four-level by DWT which reveals the characteristics of the human eyes and watermark is embedded into DWT coefficients using HVS. For robustness, the lowest level subbands which represent the highest frequency component are excluded in watermark embedding step and watermark is embedded into the perceptually significant coefficients (PSCs) of the rest subbands. PSCs of the baseband are selected according to the amplitude of the coefficients and PSCs of the high frequency subbands are selected by successive subband quantization (SSQ). Watermark is embedded into the PSCs of the baseband and high frequency subbands by Weber's law and spatial masking effect, respectively, for the invisibility and robustness. We tested the performance of the proposed algorithm compared with the conventional watermarking algorithm by computer simulation. Experimental results show that the proposed watermarking algorithm produces a better invisibility and robustness than the conventional algorithm.

A differential image quantizer based on wavelet for low bit rate video coding (저비트율 동영상 부호화에 적합한 웨이블릿 기반의 차영상 양자화기)

  • In this paper, we propose a new quadtree coding a1gorithm to improve the performance of the old one. The new algorithm can process any frame of size in standard and reduce encoding and decoding time by decreasing computational load. It also improves the image quality comparing with any old quantizer based on quadtree and zerotree structure. In order for the new algorithm to be applied for real video codec, we analyze the statistical characteristics of coefficients of differential image and add a function that makes It deal with an arbitrary size of image by using new technique while the old one process by block unit. We can also improve the image quality by scaling the coefficient's value from a differential image. By comparing the performance of the new algorithm with quadtree and SPIHT, it Is shown that PSNR is improved, that the computational load is not reduced in encoding and decoding.

  • The railway abrasion measurement system have to satisfy two conditions to increase the measurement accuracy as follows. The laser region which is projected on the rail have to be extracted without the geometrical distortion. The mapping of the acquired laser region data on the rail profile have to be processed exactly. But, the conventional railway abrasion measurement system is deeply effected by the foreign substance( dust, rainwater, and so on ) on the railway or the sensitive response characteristic of the laser to the external measurement circumstance, and then the measurement errors arise from above factors. When the laser region is projected on the rail extracts from the acquired image, the interference of the light with the same frequency as the laser system occurs the serious problems. In the process of the mapping between the railway profile and the extracted laser region, the measurement accuracy is very highly effected by the geometrical distortion and the abnormal variation. In this Paper, we propose the novel method to increase the accuracy of the railway abrasion measurement dramatically. we designed and manufactured the high precision and fast image processing board with DSP Core and FPGA to measure the railway abrasion. The image processing board has the capability that the image of 1024X1280 from camera can be processed with the speed of 480 frame/sec. And, we apply the image processing algorithm base on the wavelet to extract the laser region is projected on the rail exactly. Finally, we developed high precision railway abrasion measurement system with the error range less than +/-0.5mm by which 2D image data is covered 3D data and mapped on the rail profile using the camera model and the perspective transform.
