DWDM 광통신용 50GHz 내장형 파장안정화 모듈 제작 (Fabrication of 50GHz internal wavelength locker module for DWDM applications)

  • Tunable laser diode module with 50GHz-spacing internal wavelength locker was developed. Angle tilting dependency on FSR and peak wavelength shift and the proper initial tilting angle was calculated. By tilting the etalon, the response of the internal wavelength locker module was tuned. As a result, the fabricated internal wavelength locker module showed good performance over 62 channels.

  • This work forcus on the development of gas sensor that measure the concentrations of exhaust gas using diode laser, Each diode laser for exhaust gas measurement is set to work at near-IR using both DA and WMS methods. Also use of fiber-coupled optical elements makes such a sensor rugged and easy to align. The results showed that gas concentrations of $O_2$, CO, $CO_2$, NO are accurately measured within ${\pm}2%$ error. The application of WMS method increased the beam intensity 2-3 times higher than DA method. It were experimentally compared WMS (Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy) with DA (Direct Absorption) for the accuracy.

파장가변이 가능한 완전 광섬유형 궤환 레이저 구현 및 응용 (Fabrication of tunable all-fiber feedback laser and its application)

  • 본 논문에서는 사냑 루프 필터와 광섬유 격자 기반의 파장가변 궤환 레이저를 제안하고 있다. 다중파장을 제공하기 위하여 복굴절을 이용한 사냑 루프를 적용하였고 0.33nm의 인접 채널간격을 가지도록 제작하였다. 광섬유 격자의 열 광학 효과에 의한 파장가변을 유도하기 위하여 니크롬선을 격자위에 감았다. 파장가변과 분리에 대한 특성을 측정하기 위하여 길이가 다른 니크롬선으로 두 종류의 광섬유 격자 소자를 제작하였으며, 열 저항으로 파장가변이 되게 하였다. 광섬유격자의 반사파장이 사냑루프 다중파장의 특정 파장과 일치하면 모드 잠김현상에 의해서 공진하고 발진하게 된다. 공진파장의 이동도는 1.75pm/mW이다. 이 시스템은 전력 시스템의 전력 변동을 모니터링하는 분야에 적용할 수 있다.

Experimental demonstration of uncompressed 4K video transmission over directly modulated distributed feedback laser-based terahertz wireless link

  • We demonstrate the transmission of uncompressed 4K videos over the photonics-based terahertz (THz) wireless link using a directly modulated distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD). For optical heterodyne mixing and data modulation, a DFB-LD was employed and directly modulated with a 5.94-Gb/s non-return-to-zero signal, which is related to a 6G-serial digital interface standard to support ultra-high-definition video resolution. We derived the optimal frequency of the THz carrier by varying the wavelength difference between DFB-LD output and Tunable LD output in the THz signal transmitter to obtain the best transmission performances of the uncompressed 4K video signals. Furthermore, we exploited the negative laser-to-filter detuning for the adiabatic chirp management of the DFB-LD by the intentional discrepancy between the center wavelength of the optical band-pass filter and the output wavelength of the DFB-LD. With the help of the abovementioned methods, we successfully transmitted uncompressed 4K video signals over the 2.3-m wireless transmission distance without black frames induced by time synchronization error.

  • Optical parametric oscillator(OPO) has been used to generate coherent and tunable laser source with birefringent phase-matching technique in various nonlinear materials. In birefringent phase-matching, the output wavelength is controlled with angle or temperature tuning of the refractive index. However these tuning methods have several limitations such as restriction of tuning wavelength due to reasonable angular and temperature tuning ranges, Poynting vector walk-off which limits the interaction length, and thermal stabilization time.   • A tunable fiber laser and the Quadrature Sampling technique are used to construct highly sensitive fiber-optic distributive Bragg grating strain sensor system. By using a wavelength-modulated fiber laser, the variations of strain-dependent Bragg wavelengths are transformed into the variations of time-domain reflection profiles. The locations of profile peaks that correspond to the applied strains are demodulated using a precise wavelength encoder that uses a fiber-optic Mach-Zehnder interferometer and Quadrature Sampling technique. With the extremely high sensitive optical encoder, we could obtain not only high sensitivity, but also very linear responses that was impossible with the conventional techniques. This paper is attempted to report the theoretical and experimental results.

  • 광섬유고리에 편광제어를 통해 여러 광경로들에 대해서 손실을 조정함으로써 손실이 작은 광경로에서 발진하게 함으로써 발진 파장을 가변시킬 수 있는 편광제어 파장가변 고리형 광섬유레이저를 구현하였다. 내부 공진편광기를 사용하여 1㎚의 종모드간격으로 발진을 일으킬 수 있었고 편광제어기 및 내부공진편광기를 조절해서 1540㎚에서 1560㎚의 범위에서 파장가변을 시킬 수 있었다. 또한 실험적으로 나타난 발진특성을 광경로와 복굴절손실의 개념을 사용하여 발진출력 특성을 분석함으로써 발진파장을 가변시키는 메카니즘을 추정해 보았다. 여기서 복굴절손실이 같은 광경로들의 종모드들 사이에 보강간섭이 일어나 발진파장을 변화시킬 수 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • In this paper, the swept source optical coherence tomography system has realized using a free-space interferometer based on a beam splitter. Personal computer has completed the control for tunable wavelength laser digitally and the B-scan motor as well. From each experiment for an onion and a salmon egg, we confirmed that the in vivo epidermal cross-sectional images for them can be obtained appropriately.

Simulation of Terahertz Signal Generation by Dispersion-dependent Kelly Sidebands of Mode-locking Fiber Lasers

  • The ±1-order Kelly sidebands with dispersion-dependent spacing of mode-locking fiber lasers are investigated for frequency-tunable terahertz signal generation. The principle of dispersion dependence of Kelly sidebands is analyzed. A new method, which is a dispersion-management mechanism introduced into the fiber-laser cavity, is proposed to generate Kelly sidebands with widely tunable wavelength spacing. A spacing tuning range of up to 28.46 nm of the ±1-order Kelly sidebands is obtained in simulation. Using the data of the optical spectrum with dispersion-dependent Kelly sidebands, the frequency spectrum of generated terahertz signals is calculated. Consequently, the signal frequency can be changed from 0.09 to 2.27 THz.
