This paper presents the novel design of circular polarized Ka-band horn array antenna. The element antenna of the arrya is composed of two parts, microstrip patch and square horn, and the microstrip patch is fed by corner truncated microstrip patch for circular polarization. The patch antenna has the role of a feeder and polarizer of the horn, thus the whole size of the horn antennae can be considerably reduced. The $1{\times}8$ horn array was designed and fabricated by the spacing of $0.9{\lambda}_0$ among the element horn. The element horn has typical gain of 8dBi and axial-ratio bandwidth of 4.9% at 3dB, and the minimum gain and axial-ratio bandwithd of the array is 14dBi and 8.2%.

An H-sector horn antenna has a constant beam coverage characteristic and it can be useful for application to a wide band phased array antenna system. In this paper, we designed a broadband E-plane H-sector horn phased-array antenna, which has a 3:1 bandwidth and ${\pm}60^{\circ}$ beam steering capability. An H-sector hem antenna was designed to have $30{\sim}50^{\circ}$ half-power beam width in the principal H-plane. The active reflection coefficient including mutual coupling was calculated using a waveguide simulator, and the active reflection characteristic was improved by mutual coupling over wide frequency range. Using these results, an $8{\times}1$ H-sector phased array antenna was fabricated. The measurement results for the half-power beam width in the principal H-plane and the active reflection coefficient showed a good agreement with the simulation results. The peak-value pattern in the steered radiation beams also agreed well with the active element pattern. The measured active reflection coefficients within the beam steering range are mostly less than 0.3 over the 3:1 frequency range.

In this paper, a design method for a compact dual-band coplanar waveguide-fed slot antenna using SRR(split-ring resonator) conductor is studied. The SRR conductor is loaded inside a rectangular slot of the proposed antenna for dual-band operation. When the SRR conductor is inserted into the slot, the original rectangular slot is divided into a rectangular loop region and a rectangular slot region, and frequency bands are created by the loop and slot, separately. A prototype of the proposed dual-band slot antenna operating at 2.45 GHz WLAN band and 3.40-5.35 GHz band is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of 30 mm by 30 mm. Experiment results show that the antenna has a desired impedance characteristic with a frequency band of 2.38-2.51 GHz and 3.32-5.38 GHz for a voltage standing wave < 2, and measured gain is 1.7 dBi at 2.45 GHz, and it ranges 2.4-3.2 dBi in the second band.
In this paper, the design process and method for a compact wideband loop antenna for terrestrial digital TV (DTV) and ultra high definition (UHD) TV applications was proposed. Horizontal slits were added on the two circular sectors of the proposed loop antenna in order to miniaturize the existing wideband loop antenna consisting of a square loop and two circular sectors. A CPW transmission line was inserted in the center of the lower circular sector as a feed line. The CPW feed line was designed using the 75 ohm port impedance for DTV and UHD TV applications, and a tapered center-signal line was designed to improve the impedance matching. The final designed antenna was fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a thickness of 0.8 mm. The experiment results show that the proposed compact loop antenna operates in the frequency band of 444.3-820.1 MHz for a VSWR < 2, which fully covers the DTV and UHD TV bands.

In this paper, the multi-band antenna with CPWG(Coplanar Waveguide with Ground) feed for telematics mobile devices is designed and fabricated. The proposed antenna improves the return loss characteristic by using open-circuited stub matching and rectangular slot in the radiation patch. In addition, CPWG structure makes up for the drawback of the CPW which is variation of impedance matching according to the gap variation of the feed line and the ground. The fabricated antenna has 1.4GHz ($1.43GHz{\sim}2.83GHz$, 65%) band width on -10dB (VSWR<2) and the maximum gains are 0.8dBi, 1.34dBi, 2.41dBi, 2.53dBi, 2.6dBi and 1.51dBi on each resonant frequency that are GPS $(1.564GHz{\sim}1.585GHz)$, PCS/DCS $(1.710GHz{\sim}1.984GHz)$, WCDMA $(2.170GHz{\sim}2300GHz)$, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi/WLAN $(2.4GHz{\sim}2.483GHz)$, WiBro $(2.3GHz{\sim}2.4GHz)$, SDMB $(2.605GHz{\sim}2.655GHz)$. It also has an omni-directional radiation pattern of H-Plane.
We have demonstrated a $Ti:LiNbO_3$ electro-optic electric-field sensor utilizing a $1{\times}2$ Y-fed balanced-bridge Mach-Zehnder interferometric (YBB-MZI) modulator, which uses a 3-dB directional coupler at the output and has two complementary output waveguides. A dc switching voltage of ~25 V and an extinction ratio of ~12.5 dB are observed at a wavelength of $1.3{\mu}m$. For a 20 dBm rf input power, the minimum detectable electric fields are ~8.21, 7.24, and ~13.3 V/m, corresponding to dynamic ranges of ~10, ~12, and ~7 dB at frequencies of 10, 30, and 50 MHz respectively. The sensors exhibit almost linear response for an applied electric-field intensity from 0.29 V/m to 29.8 V/m.

In this paper, a new method which simultaneously gives the radiation conductance and susceptance of the rectangular microstrip patch antenna. This solution is derived from the load admittance of the equivalent ${\pi}-$network circuit of the slitted parallel-plate waveguide filled with homogeneous dielectric. Our theoretical results for the radiation admittance are compared with other theoretical results. Also, our theoretical return loss and resonant frequency which are calculated by use of the equivalent transmission line model are in fairly good agreement with the experimental results.

In this paper, we fabricated dual polarization microstrip array antenna to analyze the performance of polarization diversity of each antennas beamwidth and recommend suitable polarizations diversity antenna under indoor environments. The proposed antennas which have directional beam patterns are small, light and thin. Also they are $1\times4$ array and $4\times4$ array antenna with $70^{\circ}$, $20^{\circ}$ beamwidth, respectively. The center frequency is 1890 MHz, IMT-2000's frequency. We also measured the antennas characteristics of each beamwidth in various waveguide structured corridor and compared then with the case of space diversity using the dipole antenna. The measurement shows that the polarization diversity using directional dual polarization microstrip array antennas has more 1~7 dB diversity gain than the space diversity using the dipole antenna. Therefore, the proposed antennas are expected to be efficiently used for the design of optimal directional beam pattern antenna and diversity system for indoor environments.
In this paper, Coplanar waveguide(CPW)-fed slot loop antenna, which is applicable to the dual band(2.4GHz~2.4835GHz, 5.15GHz~5.825GHz) for the wireless LAN, is proposed. In order to miniaturize the proposed antenna, slot loop is bent by meandering. The resonant frequencies in the required dual band are adjusted by variation of the resonant length of slot loop as well as slot width. In particular, use of capacitive coupling CPW feed provides impedance matching without a seperate matching circuit, because the amount of electromagnetic coupling can be controlled by the offset between feed and radiator. As a result, it has been observed that the proposed antenna satisfies not only the required return loss(${\leq}10dB$) but also has high efficiency(${\geq}80%$) over the whole frequency band. In order to check the validity of the proposed antenna, some simulated results for return loss and radiation pattern are presented in comparison with the measured results.

A design method to achieve multiple band-rejection characteristics in a wideband circular slot antenna is presented. First, a wideband circular slot antenna fed by a coplanar waveguide is designed to operate in the frequency range between 2.3 and 11GHz, which covers WLAN, WiBro, WiMAX, and UWB frequency bands. Next, resonant frequency variations of rejection bands are examined with respect to different slot locations and lengths when slots are inserted on the ground conductor and the circular patch of the antenna. When arc-shaped slots are placed close to the circular transition from a feeding part, multiple notch bands are obtained. In this case, a half of the guided wavelength of the first notch band corresponds to the slot length and other notch bands are integer-multiple of the first band. Single notch band can be obtained when the slot is located off the transition part. Based on this study, a wideband circular slot antenna with five band-rejection frequency bands at 2.45, 3.5, 4.9, 7.35, and 9.8GHz is designed and fabricated. The first arc-shaped slots are located in the ground conductor close to the circular transition from a feeding part to generate notch bands at 2.45, 4.9, 7.35, and 9.8GHz, while the second slot for 3.73 GHz is placed on top side in the circular patch. The proposed design method is validated by good agreement between the simulated and measured results.
