수위계 표준시험장치 개발 및 최고측정능력에 관한 연구 (Best Measurement Capability and Standard Test Facility for the Water-level Gauges)

  • Rain data and water-level data are importantly used for dam operation at flood period. Because dams are directly controlled by the water-level data, the characteristic of the water-level gauges is necessary to be managed. Thus, we developed the standard test facility and method for testing the water-level gauges which are a float type, a supersonic type and a radar type. And we calculated the uncertainty of the standard test facility to maintain the accuracy of water-level gauges. Through development of this facility, we could obtain the characteristics and the calibration factor of the water-level gauges. And, this study showed that the standard test facility can be widely used for dam operation and basin management.

A survey on the application of ICTs in automated water level gauges for agricultural reservoirs

  • Timely and appropriate water supply to paddy fields is crucial for efficient agricultural water management. In South Korea, 17,240 agricultural reservoirs supply approximately 60% of the agricultural water and play a pivotal role in irrigation and drought mitigation. These reservoirs are managed by the Korea Rural Community Corporation (KRC), which oversees 3,411 reservoirs, and various local governments, which manage 13,829 locations. Guidelines from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (MAFRA) mandate the installation and operation of water level measurement instruments. Currently, automated water level facilities are installed in 1,734 reservoirs and 1,880 irrigation canals, generating water level data at ten-minute intervals. In this study, a survey was conducted to enhance the management of agricultural reservoirs by integrating advanced information and communications technology (ICT) into existing automated water level gauge systems. We propose directions for enhancing the automated water level gauges in agricultural reservoirs. The findings would provide foundational data for stable and systematic management of these gauges.

  • It is necessary to irrigate for agriculture in Korea and agricultural canals play important roles in irrigation. Nowadays gauging water discharge in canals is important because of water shortage in Korea. But It is rare to gauging water discharge in canals. Several water level gauges are installed in agricultural canals through TM/TC. But the abilities of the gauges are insufficient for agricultural water metering. In this situation, we are developing the water discharge metering system which is inexpensive and easy to maintain.

  • 댐 및 저수지 운영시 가장 중요한 센서 중의 하나인 수위계는 댐의 수문조작에 있어 직접적으로 연관되기 때문에 수위계의 특성이 잘 관리될 필요가 있다. 따라서 수위 측정에 널리 사용되고 있는 부자식, 초음파식, 그리고 레이다식 수위계에 대한 특성시험이 가능하도록 수위계 표준 시험 장치를 개발하였고, 이를 이용하여 레이다식 수위계와 초음파식 수위계에 대하여 수위에 따른 특성시험을 실시하여 각 수위계에 대한 특성을 상호 비교 분석하고자 한다.

관개용수로 CCTV 이미지를 이용한 CNN 딥러닝 이미지 모델 적용 (Application of CCTV Image and Semantic Segmentation Model for Water Level Estimation of Irrigation Channel)

  • A more accurate understanding of the irrigation water supply is necessary for efficient agricultural water management. Although we measure water levels in an irrigation canal using ultrasonic water level gauges, some errors occur due to malfunctions or the surrounding environment. This study aims to apply CNN (Convolutional Neural Network) Deep-learning-based image classification and segmentation models to the irrigation canal's CCTV (Closed-Circuit Television) images. The CCTV images were acquired from the irrigation canal of the agricultural reservoir in Cheorwon-gun, Gangwon-do. We used the ResNet-50 model for the image classification model and the U-Net model for the image segmentation model. Using the Natural Breaks algorithm, we divided water level data into 2, 4, and 8 groups for image classification models. The classification models of 2, 4, and 8 groups showed the accuracy of 1.000, 0.987, and 0.634, respectively. The image segmentation model showed a Dice score of 0.998 and predicted water levels showed R2 of 0.97 and MAE (Mean Absolute Error) of 0.02 m. The image classification models can be applied to the automatic gate-controller at four divisions of water levels. Also, the image segmentation model results can be applied to the alternative measurement for ultrasonic water gauges. We expect that the results of this study can provide a more scientific and efficient approach for agricultural water management.

필댐의 안전관리를 위한 주요 계측 데이터의 최적 분석기법에 대한 사례 연구 (A case study on an optimal analysis technique of primary measurements for safety management of fill dam)

  • 본 연구에서는 필댐의 주요계측기인 침투수량계, 정상침하계, 간극수압계의 최적 분석기법을 제안하기 위해 통계분석을 수행하였고, 이와 더불어 저수위, 강우량 데이터와의 상관관계 분석을 수행하였다. 계측기별 기술통계 분석 결과를 토대로 간극수압계는 주성분 분석을 통해 3그룹 또는 2그룹으로 분류가 가능하였고, 저수위가 상관성이 큰 그룹의 경우는 계측기 간의 상관성도 크게 나타났다. 침투수량의 경우는 극심한 비대칭 분포를 보이고 있어 정량적 분석을 위해 분류나무 분석을 통해 무강수, 강수시의 평균 침투수량을 추정할 수 있었다. 정상침하계의 경우는 상관분석 결과 계측기간의 상관성은 큰 것으로 나타났지만, 저수위계와의 관계에서는 유의미한 선형관계를 나타내지 못하여 이를 보다 상세히 분석하기 위해 EMD분석을 수행 하였다. 필댐의 주요 계측항목으로 간극수압계, 침투수량계, 정상침하계의 거동분석을 위해서는 각각 주성분 분석, 분류나무 분석, 데이터 필터 기법을 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, 향후 유사한 계측항목에 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

  • Sea level fluctuation present a direct influence to those who live near the coast. The importance of monitoring sea level is evident. Therefore, various techniques have been employed for sea level measurements such as the coastal water level gauges, satellite altimetry and GPS buoy. Especially, GPS buoys have been used to measure water levels, atmospheric parameter and other physical conditions in sea, tide correction, the altimeter range calibration, ocean environment. In this paper, we will mainly concentrate on the kinematic technique for GPS buoy to measure the sea level. A test was carried out to test the method proposed in this paper, which made use of a GPS buoy equipped to monitor the sea level in Busan. We have executed to analysis about applications of GPS buoy.

  • It is a common practice to extract water from the ground for domestic, agricultural or industrial uses or to lower the groundwater level for construction work. An accurate prediction of ground settlement Is sometimes crucial when groundwater is pumped. This case study have shown that drawdown of the groundwater table may cause ground subsidence. Many settlement gauges was installed in the vicinity of a pumped well to measure the surface settlement. The relationships between the level of groundwater drop and surface settlement is investigated In this research.
