This study was carried out to clarify the impact of land use (Castanea crenata, Pinus densiflora and Plantation Land) on soil runoff in small watershed. The soil runoff showed in order of plantation land, Castanea stand and Pinus stand. The resulting models in linear equations of three stands were able to account for 70%, 60% and 60% respectively. The relationship between soil runoff and forest environmental factors was a positive correlation at 1% level with slope, forest type, soil hardness, watershed area, stream length and at 5% level with accumulative rainfall, but was negative correlation at 1% level with coverage. The main factors that affected soil runoff in small watershed showed in order of coverage, accumulative rainfall and stand type. In the stepwise regression between soil runoff and forest environmental factors, the estimation equation is as follow; Y = 31.250 - 1.140(Coverage) + 0.413(Accumulative rainfall) + 20.829(Forest type). The results indicates that dangerous areas of landslide and soil runoff by land use could be applied to the mitigation measures such as afforestation, erosion check dam and revetment for erosion control and water quality management in small watershed.
The cylindrical ${\gamma}$-alumina pellets were prepared by forming, hydration, drying and calcination after mixing amorphous alumina and pore generating agent with water. Concentration of Fe(NO$_3$)$_3$ㆍ9$H_2O$ that was catalyst precursor was fixed and made mixing solution that changed concentration of $CH_3$COOH in range of 2.5~20%, and here ${\gamma}$-alumina pellets were immerged and were hydrothermaly treated for 3 h at $200^{\circ}C$. And then we investigated creation and change of crystal, pore characteristics, $N_2$ adsorption and desorption isotherms, changes of acid site and mechanical strengths etc. According to the concentration of $CH_3$COOH, the crystals grew to acicular shape of 0.5~2${\mu}m$ length, and crystal structure showed the pseudo-boehmite structure. When hydrothermaly treated in 10% $CH_3$COOH solution, pore volume between 100~1000 $\AA$ was highest by 0.86 cc/g, and width of hysteresis curved line due to $N_2$ adsorption/desorption appeared as was smallest. When concentration of $CH_3$COOH was in range of 5~15%, new C-H functional groups were formed. Mechanical strength of pellets was highest by 1.35 MPa when $CH_3$COOH concentration was 2.5%.

STATEMENT OF PROBLEM. Recently Yttrium-stabilized tetragonal zirconia polycrystal (Y-TZP) has been introduced due to superior flexural strength and fracture toughness compared to other dental ceramic systems. Although zirconia has outstanding mechanical properties, the phenomenon of decrease in the life-time of zirconia resulted from degradation in flexural strength after low temperature aging has been reported. PURPOSE. The objective of this study was to investigate degradation of flexural strength of Y-TZP ceramics after various low temperature aging treatments and to evaluate the phase stability and micro-structural change after aging by using X-ray diffraction analysis and a scanning electron microscope (SEM). MATERIAL AND METHODS. Y-TZP blocks of Vita In-Ceram YZ (Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad $S\ddot{a}ckingen$, Germany) were prepared in 40 mm (length) $\times$ 4 mm (width) $\times$ 3 mm (height) samples. Specimens were artificially aged in distilled water by heat-treatment at a temperature of 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, and $225^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours, in order to induce the phase transformation at the surface. To measure the mechanical property, the specimens were subjected to a four-point bending test using a universal testing machine (Instron model 3365; Instron, Canton, Mass, USA). In addition, X-ray diffraction analysis (DMAX 2500; Rigaku, Tokyo, Japan) and SEM (Hitachi s4700; Jeol Ltd, Tokyo, Japan) were performed to estimate the phase transformation. The statistical analysis was done using SAS 9.1.3 (SAS institute, USA). The flexural strength data of the experimental groups were analyzed by one-way analysis of variance and to detect statistically significant differences ($\alpha$= .05). RESULTS. The mean flexural strength of sintered Vita In-Ceram YZ without autoclaving was 798 MPa. When applied aging temperature at below $125^{\circ}C$ for 10 hours, the flexural strength of Vita In-Ceram YZ increased up to 1,161 MPa. However, at above $150^{\circ}C$, the flexural strength started to decrease. Although low temperature aging caused the tetragonal-to-monoclinic phase transformation related to temperature, the minimum flexural strength was above 700 MPa. CONCLUSION. The monoclinic phase started to appear after aging treatment above $100^{\circ}C$. With the higher aging temperature, the fraction of monoclinic phase increased. The ratio of monoclinic/tetragonal + monoclinic phase reached a plateau value, circa 75% above $175^{\circ}C$. The point of monoclinic concentration at which the flexural strength begins to decrease was between 12% and 54%.
In order to compare the growth and survival rates of grey mullet (Mugil cephalus) juveniles in different salinities, the fish reared in seawater (SW) abruptly were transferred to each experimental rearing water of $0\%SW\;(0\%_{\circ}),\;25\%SW\;(7.7\%_{\circ}),\;50\%SW\;(16.1\%_{\circ})$ and $100\%SW (32.8\%_{\circ})$. Growth rates in total length and body weight of fish in $25\%$ SW, $50\%$ SW and $75\%$ SW were greater than that in $0\%$ SW (P<0,05). Decreased salinity appeared to have an acute, but appetite depressive effect in short term in the experimental groups. Survival rate was low in $0\%$ SW (P<0.05), although those were more than $81\%$ in all salinities. There were no differences in thickness of epidermis and dermis layers in fish skin among the all experimental groups at the end of experiment. But the thickness of lipid layer in $0\%$ SW fish showed the significant differences to those in $50\%$ SW and $100\%$ SW (P<0.05). With decreased salinities, oxygen consumption was found to be decresed in the other experimental groups compared to the group in $100\%$ SW. The levels of lethal dissolved oxygen in $0\%$ SW to $100\%$ SW were 1.18, 0.30, 0,28 and 0.31 ppm, respectively.
This study was conducted to investigate the characteristics of the medium used on the composting step, comparing the excavator agitator with the self-propelled turner. The temperature of the outdoor composting medium tended to increase rapidly after flipping in the turner. The late composting medium temperature was maintained at the excavator treatment area (farm practice), and the late composting effect progressed. During the field composting stage, various microorganisms such as Bacillus spp., Actinomycetes, fluorescent Pseudomonas spp., and filamentous fungi were distributed in the medium, and the density of aerobic bacteria involved in the decomposition of the medium was increased. Under high-temperature composting conditions, blue fungi, and mesophilic actinomycetes were inhibited or killed. Thermophilic actinomycetes, which play an important role in decomposing organic matter, showed higher densities than those observed in farm practices in the self-propelled turner process. The length of rice straw was slightly shorter when the self-propelled turner was used, and the water content did not show any significant difference between treatments. The a and b values tended to increase as the inverter was turned over. The CN ratio of the composting broth was lowered from 23.1 to 16.2 for the 5th turnover in the context of farming practices, and from 23.3 to 16.9 in the context of the self-propelled turner. The yield of each treatment was increased by 20% in 1 period, 28% in 2 periods, and 26% in 3 periods; the overall yield was 23%.
In order to understand the growth and ecophy -siological response of ginseng to global warming condition, we cultivated one and two year ginseng seedlings in control (ambient $CO_2$ + ambient temperature) and global warming treatment (elevated $CO_2$ + elevated temperature) from March 2010 to July 2011. Shoot appearance and initiation of flowering were advanced by 3-4 days in global warming treatment than in control. However, timing of fruit setting and seed ripeness was similar in both control and global warming treatment. Shoot length was longer in global warming treatment than in control, and also the number of leaves was much in global warming treatment. Fresh root weight was not different between control and global warming treatment. Photosynthetic rate was higher in global warming treatment than at control. Photosynthetic rate and transpiration rate were higher in two year seedlings than in one year seedlings at control, but was not different between seedling age of ginseng in global warming treatment. Water use efficiency was higher in one year seedlings than two year seedlings at control and global warming treatment. These results demonstrated that Korean ginseng more or less positively responds to global warming situation.

The effects of soil moisture on seasonal changes of photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal resistance were studied in sorghum (Pioneer 931) and sorghum - sudangrass hybird (Pioneer 988) at Suweon in 1985. Soil moisture was maintained with approximately 100, 80, 60 and 40% of field moisture capacity in large concrete pot (12m length $\times$ 1m width $\times$ 1m depth). 1. Photosynthesis and transpiration showed a sharp seasonal changes and reacted similarly to water stress and environmental factors, and were the highest in the middle of August, and were the lowest in the beginning of October. Sorghum - sudan hybird had better photosynthesis, transpiration and stomatal control than those of sorghum in hot summer season. 2. The rate of photosynthesis of 60 and 80% field moisture capacity was higher than that of 100 and 40% throughout growing season, but the effect of soil moisture on photosynthesis varied seasonally by climate factors. Optimum soil moisture was 60% in early summer and fall, and was 60 - 80% in hot summer season. 3. Drought and over-moisture affected physiological metabolism of plant, and so the dry matter yield of 40 and 100% field moisture capacity decreased by 70% compared with that of 60% field moisture capacity.

The Mathematical Model, which can describe the maneuvering motion of a ship in low speed, is highly required these days because it is directly related to the safety of ship in confused harbour. Kose has presented a new model for the low speed maneuvering motion, but the usefulness of it is not confirmed widely. Lets of difficulties are revealed in the case of low speed maneuver, The first is the fact that a ship moves the stirred water region for the longer time than in the case of high speed. So, the hydrodynamic forces, exerted on the hull need to be treated strictly, not by the ordinary differential equation with constant coefficients. Another difficulty is arised from the fact the lateral motion is relatively large comparing to the longitudinal motion in low speed. And, by the result the effect of cross-flow drag or vortex sheding effects are dominant. Besides, the captive model tests of low speed motion has lots of problems. For example, the hydrodynamic forces do not converge to a certain values for the long time. And the absolute values of measured forces are very small, so we must expend lots of efforts to raise up the S/N ratio of the experiments. In this paper, a new mathematical model for the maneuvering motion in low speed, is built up, and the usefulness is discussed, comparing with other models, for example, Kose's model or M.M.G. model or Cross-Flow model, The CMT data for a PCC model of 3.00 M length, released from the RR-742 of Japan, are used for the validation of each models.
In the past several years phytoremediation, defined as the use of plants for removing contaminants from media such as soils or water, has attracted a great deal of interest as a potentially useful remediation technology We attempted to assess the effectiveness of phytoremediation of diesel-contaminated soils in a green house. Screening test for selecting an appropriate plant was performed by observing the harmful effects of diesel dosage on the growth of 4 plants. Alfalfa was selected as a potentially useful plant among corn and barnyard grasses due to its high tolerance to the toxicity of diesel in growth. Bioremediation of the artificial diesel-contaminated soil packed in the PVC columns(0.3m in diameter $\times$ 1m in length) with air supplied, alfalfa planted, and alfalfa and air supplied was investigated for 100 days. The results of the column test showed plant effects on enhancing the biodegradation of diesel in the contaminated soils compared to the control column which had no plant. Injecting air to the columns during phytoremediation also showed additional effects on the removal rate of diesel. Comparison of microbial activity in each test column showed a beneficial effect of plants in the soil remediation processes. This results can be explained microbial activity in rhizosphere is a crucial factor for removing diesel.
The status of groundwater development in Chungnam was studied with geological characteristics according to the measured data of Korean Rural Development Corporation. The data of 212 survey wells were used for the relation between catchment area and water discharge, and the data of 344 development wells for the relationships between well depth and discharge, between casing depth and discharge, between rock type and discharge, and the relation with lineaments density. The relationship between the catchment area and discharge does not show any special trend, and it is understood that groundwater of hard rock mass is not so much influenced by the surface catchment area. The relationship between well depth and discharge shows two different trends; discharge increasing with depth for alluvial groundwater, but no certain trend between depth and discharge for groundwater of hard rock zone. Discharge increases linearly with the casing depth, and it is reliable because the casing was installed in the weathered zone against well destruction. Generally the rock type does not show any difference of discharge, but the crystalline rocks such as granite and gneiss yield a little more discharge than the more porous rocks such as sedimentary rock or schist. It suggests that the effect of fracture zone is a major governing factor. In Hongsong and Puyo, there are similar in rock type and casing depth, but the big difference in average discharge. The big discharge of Hongsong is concordant with the higher intersection density and longer length of lineament in Hongsong than those of Puyo. Therefore the groundwater development strategy should be focused on the micro topography analysis and geophysical survey for the understanding of the fracture zone rather than catchment area or rock type.
