This study was conducted to evaluate the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of chiffon cakes made with rice flour ranging from 20-100% in place of wheat flour. The water binding capacity of the rice flour was greater than that of the wheat flour and its fat binding capacity was lower than that of the wheat flour. The batter stability data indicated that the 100% treatment was better than the control, and specific gravity values and specific loaf volumes were lower in the samples with added rice flour. Texture analysis found no significant differences in hardness, adhesiveness, cohesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness between the control and the 100% treatment. In the case of crust color, the rice flour-added chiffon cakes did not show any significant differences for their 'a' values. In addition, their crumb color was not significantly different in terms of both their 'L' and 'a' values. According to the sensory evaluation, there was no significant difference in overall acceptability between the control and the rice flour-added chiffon cakes. The highest sensory scores were obtained by the 100% treatment for overall acceptance and moistness. However, flavor, cohesiveness, and brittleness were not significantly different. These study results show that wheat flour could be replaced by rice flour up to 100% in chiffon cake.

A 440MHz wireless and passive surface acoustic wave (SAW) based chemical sensor was developed on a $41^{\circ}YX\;LiNbO_3$ piezoelectric substrate for simultaneous measurement of $CO_2$ gas and relative humidity (RH) using a reflective delay line pattern as the sensor element. The reflective delay line is composed of an interdigital transducer (IDT) and several shorted grating reflectors. A Teflon AF 2400 and a hydrophilic $SiO_2$ layer were used as $CO_2$ and water vapor sensitive films. The coupling of mode (COM) modeling was conducted to determine optimal device parameters prior to fabrication. According to simulation results, the device was fabricated and then wirelessly measured using the network analyzer. The measured reflective coefficient $S_{11}$ in the time domain showed high signal/noise (S/N) ratio, small signal attenuation, and few spurious peaks. In the $CO_2$ and humidity testing, high sensitivity ($2^{\circ}/ppm$ for $CO_2$ detection and $7.45^{\circ}/%$RH for humidity sensing), good linearity and repeatability were observed in the $CO_2$ concentration ranges of $75{\sim}375ppm$ and humidity levels of $20{\sim}80%$RH. Temperature and humidity compensations were also investigated during the sensitivity evaluation process.

When we consider to develop a new harbor, the most important factor, we think, is the lowest water depth of waterway and approaching channel for safe navigation of vesse. The existing harbors have been being dredged to meet the international trend of jumbo sized vessels by adopting the new design criteria. As the dredged materials over the expected at the design level were common and there are still lack of land based reclamation area, we have no choice to discharge the dredged materials in open sea area. In this study, we analysed the behavior of discharged materials at the dumping area of offshore open sea, which were collected from the dredging work at the waterway in Busan New Port. We measured the tidal currents and analyzed the waters of dumping site after the dumping work. these were used to evaluate the numerical models. Suspended Solids(SS) were introduced to the diffusion model. Because of the characteristics of the dumping site, the speed of initial diffusion and settle down of the discharged materials was so fast. Therefore, we believe that the dumped materials do not cause a significant impact to the marine environment.

The purpose of this study is to investigate conservation and management methods of the Joseon Royal Tombs under the Eastern District Management Office. Through the literature survey, we understood the process of change of Joseon royal tombs, and through field surveys and interviews, we understood the status of the interior and the surrounding area. In this process, topography, land use and flow of human traffic, architecture and stone objects, water system, historical forests, and facilities were set as the main evaluation indicators. Urbanization has damaged the original terrains of Royal Tombs as national roads, buildings and facilities have constructed in the inner and outer area of Joseon Royal Tombs. Construction of underground passage, land purchase, relocation and demolition of the buildings are required for the conservation of the Royal Tombs area, and then it is necessary to recover the original terrain. In the case of land use and pathways, there are many disconnection of the original ritual circulation, they should be maintained to remind the sacred atmosphere of the royal tomb. And It is necessary to collect accurate information on the lost buildings and stoneworks through literature survey and excavation investigation, and that investigations should be lead to the exposure or restoration of the ruins. Historical forests require periodic and ongoing monitoring and management, and it is necessary to establish new entrance area and appropriate facilities following the long-Term conservation and management plan. These plans should be classified into short, medium and long-Term projects according to urgency and securing financial resources with a long perspective to implement continuous and systematic projects.

The development and reduction scheme under implementation plan of TMDLs were performed in the Jinwi watershed including 8 cities (Gunpo, Yongin, Suwon, Anseong, Osan, Uiwang, Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong) since 2012. Progress of the annual development schemes was faster than the reduction schemes in most of the cities during the planning period. Main load reduction methods included establishment and enlargement of sewage treatment plants, resources of livestock excretions, and introduction of best management practices of non-point source pollution. Especially, reduction load using recycling and composting of livestock excretions comprised 34.1% of all reduction load. It is necessary to implement methodical development and reduction scheme for making of successful performance of TMDLs and water quality improvement in the Jinwi watershed.
Mercury, one of the most diffused and hazardous organ-specific environmental contaminants, exists in a wide variety of physical and chemical states. The murcury with the nature which evaporates easily can cause an acute or chronic mercury poisoning to workers at mercury-handling workplaces. Although many studies indicate that mercury induces a deleterious damage, little has been reported from the investigations of mercury effects at surrounding levels in living things. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the biological effects of mercury chloride and ionizing radiation. Prepubertal male F344 rats were administered mercury chloride in drinking water throughout the experimental period or were given wholebody irradiation with a dose of 6.5 Gy. The amount changed of body weight during the experimental period showed a 4.9% rise in the mercury-treated group and 14.4% decline in the irradiated group compared with the level of the control group. The results of hematological analysis (red blood cells, white blood cells, hemoglobin, and hematocrit) indicated the differential effects of mercury chloride and ionizing radiation. However the concentration of cortisol as assessed by radioimmunoassay increased in both of the groups. Relative expressions of mRNA related to mitochondrion-mediated apoptosis were investigated using semiquantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction on gonad and urinary organs of the experimental groups. While the expression of Bcl-2 mRNA exhibited different patterns depending on the organs or the experimental groups, both of the experimental groups showed a conspicuous expressions of Bax mRNA. In conclusion, the target organ of mercury chloride seems to be a urinary organ and the pattern of damage induced by mercury chloride differs from that by ionizing radiation.
A total of 127 Korean native black pigs(gilt 30, boar 97) were used to investigate the carcass properties, yields of retail cut and meat quality. The average live weight, chilled carcass percentage and retail cut percentage used in this study were 74.69kg, 71.14% and 61.09% for boar, and 75.5kg, 73.88% and 56.25% for gilt, respectively. Although gilts were higher in live weight and chilled carcass percentage whereas lower in retail cut percentage when compared to boars, there was no significantly difference between gender(p<0.05). Gilts had higher fat contents than boars regardless of weight range groups. Protein contents increased as slaughter weight increased for gilt and boar groups. Gilts contained high intramuscular fat contents had significantly lower Warner-Bratzler shear force(WBS) and water holding capacity(WHC) when compared to boar in the same weight range group(p<0.05). There was no significantly different in meat color(p>0.05) although gilts had higher L(lightness), a(redness) and b(yellowness) values when compared to the same group of boar. From the result of this study can be used for the grading guideline and quality evaluation standard of Korean native black pigs by gender and live weight.
Background: Enteric methane ($CH_4$) accounts for about 70% of total $CH_4$ emissions from the ruminant animals. Researchers are exploring ways to mitigate enteric $CH_4$ emissions from ruminants. Recently, nano zinc oxide (nZnO) has shown potential in reducing $CH_4$ and hydrogen sulfide ($H_2S$) production from the liquid manure under anaerobic storage conditions. Four different levels of nZnO and two types of feed were mixed with rumen fluid to investigate the efficacy of nZnO in mitigating gaseous production. Methods: All experiments with four replicates were conducted in batches in 250 mL glass bottles paired with the ANKOM$^{RF}$ wireless gas production monitoring system. Gas production was monitored continuously for 72 h at a constant temperature of $39{\pm}1^{\circ}C$ in a water bath. Headspace gas samples were collected using gas-tight syringes from the Tedlar bags connected to the glass bottles and analyzed for greenhouse gases ($CH_4$ and carbon dioxide-$CO_2$) and $H_2S$ concentrations. $CH_4$ and $CO_2$ gas concentrations were analyzed using an SRI-8610 Gas Chromatograph and $H_2S$ concentrations were measured using a Jerome 631X meter. At the same time, substrate (i.e. mixed rumen fluid+ NP treatment+ feed composite) samples were collected from the glass bottles at the beginning and at the end of an experiment for bacterial counts, and volatile fatty acids (VFAs) analysis. Results: Compared to the control treatment the $H_2S$ and GHGs concentration reduction after 72 h of the tested nZnO levels varied between 4.89 to 53.65%. Additionally, 0.47 to 22.21% microbial population reduction was observed from the applied nZnO treatments. Application of nZnO at a rate of $1000{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ have exhibited the highest amount of concentration reductions for all three gases and microbial population. Conclusion: Results suggest that both 500 and $1000{\mu}g\;g^{-1}$ nZnO application levels have the potential to reduce GHG and $H_2S$ concentrations.
One of the most recent issues facing the pesticides regulatory process is the assessment of the potential for pesticides to leach through soil and appear in groundwater. Since Jeju island depends on a hydrogeologically vulnerable aquifer system as its principle source of drinking water, it is important to identify which pesticides are the most likely to result in groundwater contamination. The objective of this study was to assess groundwater contamination risk of 21 pesticides (12 insecticides, 6 herbicides and 3 fungicides) in Jeju soils using groundwater ubiquity score (GUS). Considering GUS estimated in 21 representative series of Jeju soils, generally herbicides showed relatively higher leaching potentials and insecticides showed lower leaching potentials. Groundwater contamination risk was higher in the order of bromacil > metolachlor > alachlor > linuron pretilachlor > butachlor for herbicides, carbofuran > ethoprophos > diazinone > dimethoate > penthoate > mecarbam > methidathion > endosulfan > fenitrothion > parathion > chlorpyrifos > terbufos for insecticides, and metalaxyl > chlorothalonil > triadimefon for fungicides. Among the tested pesticides alachlor, metolachlor, bromacil, ethoprophos and carbofuran were classified as the pesticides of very high or high groundwater contamination potential. Although the ranking of the leaching potential was essentially determined on the base of the intrinsic properties of the chemicals and environmental properties, variation of the relative groundwater contamination potentials of each pesticides in different soils were not significant. Therefore, the above ranking of groundwater contamination risk would be applied in most of Jeju soils. To lower the possibility of pesticide contamination of groundwater, the use of those pesticides classified as high or very high leaching potential should be strictly regulated in Jeju Island.

A new 5th generation adhesive system(ONE-STEP) has been supplied which operators can apply to conditioned tooth surfaces by one simplified step. The purpose of this study was to determine whether different methods of adhesive application and various air drying duration after applying adhesive affect the shear bond strength of composite resin to dentin, and to evaluate the adhesive pattern of composite resin and dentin under SEM. Seventy-seven extracted human molar teeth were cleaned and mounted in palstic test tubes. The occlusal dentin surfaces were exposed with Diamond Wheel Saw and smoothed with Lapping and Polishing Machine (South Bay Technology Co., U.S.A.). Teeth were randomly divided into 7 groups (n=11), In experimental A group, adhesive was applied to dentin with agitation for 20 sec. In experimental N-A group, adhesive were continuously applied to dentin for 20 sec. Also control and experimental 1, 2, 3, 4 groups were dried for 10, 0, 5, 20, 30 seconds after applying adhesive, respectively, Adhesives were light cured for 10 sec. A gelatin capsule 5mm in diameter was filled with Aelitefil$^{TM}$ composite resin, placed on the treated dentin surface and light cured for 40 see, from three sides, All specimens were stored in distilled water at room temperature for 24 hours. The shear bond strengths were measured using a universal testing machine(AGS-1000 4D, Japan) at a crosshead speed of 5mm/min. An one-way ANOVA and LSD test were used for statistical analysis of the data. For SEM evaluation, seven specimens were made and sectioned. Representive postfracture and seven specimens were mounted on brass stubs, sputter-coated with gold and observed under SEM. The results were as follows : 1. The shear bond strength of experimental A group which adhesive were applied to dentin with agitation was higher than that of experimental N-A group (continuous application), and there was significant difference between two groups (p<0.01). 2. The interface between composite and dentin according to different application methods showed close adaptation in experimental A group and showed tinny gap in experimental N-A group. 3. The shear bond strength accoding to various air drying duration was the lowest value(7.57${\pm}$2.60 MPa) in experimental 1 group, so there was significant difference between experimental 1 group and other four groups (p<0.05). But there was no significant difference of shear bond strength between four groups (p>0.05). 4. The interface between composite and dentin according to various air drying duration showed close adaptation in control group and tinny gap in experimental 3 and 4 groups. But experimental 1 and 2 groups showed $30{\mu}$ and 6 - $10{\mu}m$ thick gaps, respectively.
