고체 촉매를 이용한 대두유와 폐식용유의 에스테르화 (Esterification of the Soybean Oil and Waste Vegetable Oil by Solid Catalysts)

  • Esterification of soybean oil with methanol was investigated. First of all, liquid-liquid equilibriums for systems of soybean oil and methanol were measured at temperatures ranging from 40 to 65$^{\circ}C$. Profiles of conversion of soybean oil with time were determined from the glycerine content in reaction mixtures for the different kinds of catalysts, such as NaOH, CaO, Ca(OH)$_2$, MgO, Mg(OH)$_2$, and Ba(OH)$_2$. The effects of dose of catalyst, cosolvent and reaction temperature on final conversion were examined. Esterification of waste vegetable oil with methanol was investigated and compared to the case of soybean oil. Solubility of methanol in soybean oil was substantially greater than that of soybean oil in methanol. When the esterification reaction of soybean oil was catalyzed by solid catalyst, final conversion was strongly dependent on the alkalinity of the solid catalyst, and increased with the alkalinity of the metal. Hydroxides from the alkali metals were more effective than oxides. When Ca(OH)$_2$ was used for the esterification catalyst, maximum value of final conversion was measured at dose of 4%. When CHCl$_3$ as a cosolvent, was added into the reaction mixture of soybean oil which catalyzed by Ba(OH)$_2$, maximum value of final conversion was appeared at dose of 3%. When waste vegetable oil was catalyzed by NaOH and solid catalysts, high final conversion, over 90%, and fast reaction rate were obtained.

  • 화석연료의 고갈과 환경문제를 대응하기 위한 대체에너지 중 재생가능하고 탄소중립(Carbon-neutral)자원인 바이오매스 (Biomass)를 연료로 이용하는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 바이오매스를 사용하는 대부분의 에너지 생산 시스템은 열화학전환방법이 대표적이다. 이 가운데 가스화 기술을 이용해 합성가스 (syngas)를 생산해 보일러나 엔진 등에 적용하여 열과 전기를 생산한다. 하지만 합성가스 (syngas)를 생산하는 과정에서 타르 (tar)가 발생되며 낮은 온도에서 응축되기 때문에 배관 및 엔진 등에 막힘 현상을 일으켜 공정 효율을 감소시키는 문제를 야기한다. 타르를 제거하기 위해 대부분의 가스화 공정에서 물을 이용한 wet scrubber를 사용하고 있는데 효율이 낮은 문제점이 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 물과 oily material (soybean oil, waste cooking oil, mineral oil)을 이용하여 제거효율이 높은 순으로 나타내자면 Soybean oil>Waste Cooking Oil>Mineral oil>Water 순서로 나타났고 제거효율은 각각 약 97%, 약 70%, 약 63%, 약 30%의 효율을 보여주었으며 식물성 오일 종류인 soybean oil을 사용하였을 때 타르 제거 효율이 가장 높았다.

대두유와 폐계유의 혼합비가 바이오디젤 특성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Soybean Oil and Waste Chicken Oil Mixing Ratio on Biodiesel Characteristics)

  • 바이오디젤에 대한 관심이 급증하면서 식물성유지의 가격이 급등하고 있다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위한 방안으로 동물성 폐기물을 이용한 연구가 진행되고 있으며, 이러한 연구는 환경오염을 줄이고 원료가격을 절감시키는 장점이 있다. 또한 동물성 유지는 식물성 유지에 비해 포화지방산이 다량 함유되어 있어 세탄가가 높고 발열량이 큰 연료특성을 갖고 있 다. 그러나 다량 함유된 포화지방산으로 인해 저온유동성이 좋지 않은 문제점이 있다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 대두유와 폐계유를 혼합하여 바이오디젤을 제조하였다. 원료는 정제된 대두유와 폐계유를 사용하였으며, 실험은 대두유와 폐계유 혼합비를 1:9에서 9:1까지, 메탄올/유지 몰비를 7~15로 변화시키면서 수행 하였다. 실험조건으로 촉매는 KOH 1wt%, 반응온도 $55^{\circ}C$, 반응시간 1시간으로 하여 바이오디젤을 제조하였다. 그 결과 대두유와 폐계유의 최적혼합비율은 3:7이었으며, 메탄올/유지 몰비는 13으로 나타났다. 또한 제조된 바이오디젤의 성능을 평가한 결과 바이오디젤 수율(BD수율)은 90.2%, FAME 함량은 96.6%, LAME 함량은 4.1%로 나타났으며, 이 결과는 한국공업규격(KSM2413)을 만족하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Recently worldwide concern and research is being actively conducted on green energy which can reduce environmental pollution. A plant such as the natural rapeseed oil, soybean oil, palm, etc. is used as a bio source in home and industry. Biofuels is a sustainable fuel having economically benefits and decreasing environmental pollution problems caused due to fossil fuel, and it can be applied to the conventional diesel engine without changing the existing institutional structure. Waste vegetable oil contains a high cetane number and viscosity component, the low carbon and oxygen content. A lot of research is progressing about the conversion of waste vegetable oil as renewable clean energy. In this study, waste oil was prepared to waste cooking oil generated from the living environment, and applied to diesel engine to confirm the possibility and cost-effectiveness of biodiesel blend waste oil. As a result, brake specific fuel consumption and NOx was increased, carbon monoxide and soot was decreased.

  • The generation of waste cable has been continuously increased as a production of electrical and communication media are extended. The current recovery methods, such as mechanical peeling, incineration, solvent extraction and pyrolysis, seems inadequate because they are either hard to apply in some cases or environmentally unacceptable. It has been shown that copper can be effectively separated from the jelly filled type cables using a soybean oil treatment method. As a result, jelly compound is vanished from the wire by soybean oil bath and waste wires are separated copper and PE by the mechanical chipper. This is a more environmentally friendly method than burning, and considerably faster than Stripping.

식물유 및 오존산화 식물유를 첨가한 낙엽송 목재펠릿의 생산성 및 품질특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Productivity and Quality Characteristics of Wood Pellets by Larix Kaemferi Carr Sawdust with Adding Vegetable Oil and Ozonized Vegetable Oil)

  • 본 연구에서는 국내 수종 중 낙엽송(Larix kaemferi Carr)을 대상으로 하여 콩기름, 폐콩기름, 오존산화 콩기름, 오존산화 폐콩기름을 첨가하여 제조된 목재펠릿의 특성변화를 조사하였다. 제조된 펠릿의 함수율, 발열량, 회분, 겉보기밀도, 내구성, 흡습률, 원소분석을 측정하여 비교하였다. 펠릿제품의 함수율은 7.66~9.48%로 나타나 목재펠릿의 품질기준 1급인 10% 이하를 만족시켰고, 제조된 각 펠릿의 발열량 측정결과 품질기준(1급) 4,300 kcal/kg을 모두 넘었으며, 기름을 첨가한 모든 펠릿이 대조구보다 높은 발열량을 나타냈다. 회분은 0.34~0.42%로 품질규격 1급인 0.7% 미만의 범주에 속한 것으로 나타났으며, 제조된 펠릿 모두가 겉보기 밀도 품질 기준 1급(640 kg/$m^3$)을 만족시켰다. 내구성은 콩기름을 첨가한 펠릿, 오존산화 폐콩기름을 첨가한 펠릿이 품질 기준1급(97.5% 이상)을 만족하였다. 전체적인 결과의 흐름을 보았을 때 첨가제를 첨가한 펠릿이 무첨가 펠릿보다 내구성이 좋게 나타났다. 흡습률은 24시간 후 흡습률 시험에서 첨가제를 첨가한 펠릿이 모두 무첨가 펠릿보다 낮은 흡습률을 나타냈으며, 5일 경과 후에도 무첨가 펠릿 보다 첨가제를 첨가한 펠릿이 모두 흡습률 감소 현상을 보였다. 원소분석은 황의 함유량이 목재펠릿의 품질기준 1급(0.05%) 이하를 만족시켰고, 질소 함유량 역시 목재펠릿의 품질기준 1급(0.3%) 이하를 만족시켰다.

바이오디젤의 난방유로서의 연료특성 (Fuel Qualities of Different Biodiesels in the Gun Type Burner)

  • In this study, fuel qualities including kinematic viscosity and pour point in the various temperature, calorific value and combustion characteristics of two biodiesels based on the soybean and waste oil blended with light oil were investigated and discussed in order to figure out to confirm fuel compatibility taking the place of light oil in the hot air heater or boiler. As biodiesel content ratio increased calorific value of biodiesel decreased, and the difference was 13% between 100%-biodiesel and light oil. In general, pour points of the biodiesels were higher than light oil, and as biodiesel content ratio increased pour point increased. About 15 cSt was the pour point of biodiesels and light oil, which occurred at 3 to $4^{\circ}C$ in the biodiesels and $-25^{\circ}C$ in the light oil. Flame dimensions of biodiesels and light oil were almost same at the same combustion condition in the burner of the hot air heater. CO concentrations in the exhaustion gas were far lower than those of the light oil. Though pour point of biodiesel is a little inferior to light oil, still biodiesel can be an alternative fuel substituting for light oil in combustion system without much modifying the current oil combustion mechanism.

  • The subject of this study, Eco-friendly Polyurethane Waterproofing Membrane Coating of Exposed Type is manufactured by replacing environmental hazardous substance such as Toluene, Dioctyl Phthalate with Dimethyl Carbonate, waste-soybean oil. As part of existing filler is also replaced with waste-rubber chip and waste-soybean oil. As a result of environment friendly tests, in test of detection of VOCs case was contented with the Ministry of Environment standards at 5% below. Testing methods for heavy metal extracted was contented with standards for official wastes test method. So it is judged that environment friendly is secured.

식품가공폐유를 이용한 비누의 계면활성과 세척성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Surface Activity and Detergency of the Soap Made from the Waste Oil from Food Manufacturing Proces)

  • We have gathered a fatty acid to recycle the waste oil of food manufacturing process, and then made a soap from the waste oil by alkali saponification. Effects of the washing elements such as the concentration of the soap, temperature and time were evaluated to find out the optimum washing conditions, and results are as follows. 1. We could find soaps made from the soybean oil (A), corn oil (B), rape seed salad oil (C), cotton seed oil (D) and a soap consisting of the each oil 25% respectively (I) had the lowest surface tension at the concentration of 0.225% -0.25%. Compared with the single fatty-acid soap, the multi-component soap I showed the lower surface tension at the cmc. 2. All the samples of A-I showed the lowest contact angle for the solid material at the concentration of 0.25%. The multi-component soap of I showed higher contact angle than the single.component soaps of A, B, C and D. 3. The soap G, made from the waste oil, show lower surface tension than 5, made from the complex raw fats of the eatable fatty oil acid and H, commercial soap. 4. The washing efficiency depends on the washing time. Especially the 25-minute was found to be the optimum washing time. 5. The highest washing efficiency was found at the 0.25% cont. reagardless of the washing temperature. At 0.15% concentration level the washing efficiency reduces as washing tem- perature increases. At 0.3% concentration level the highest washing efficiency was found between $50^{\circ}$-$60^{\circ}$. 6. The soap made from the waste oil showed the highest washing efficiency in terms of concentration, temperature, and time. 7. The soap made from the waste oil showed the similiar concentration of hydrogen ion to the synthetic detergent. 8. The hand value of the fabric washed by the soap made from the waste oil was a little lower value than those washed by the synthetic detergent.

각종 탈검제에 의한 식물성 기름의 탈검효과 (Degumming Effect on Vegetable oil of Degumming agent)

  • 탈검제로 인산 및 초산, 구연산, 수산, 질산, 붕산 등 6종을 평지씨 기름과 대두유에 적용시킨 결과 수산을 사용하여 인산과 거의 동일한 탈검 효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 즉, 평지씨 기름에서 85% 인산 처리군과 5.10% 수산 처리군의 탄산유내의 잔류 비누물질과 인함량, 탈색유에서의 색상, 탈취유의 과산화물값, trans 지방산 함량 등은 유사한 결과를 나타내었다. 대두유에서도 동일한 결과를 얻었으므로 탈검제로서 인산 대신 수산을 사용할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 한편 85% 인산처리군과 10% 수산처리군으로부터 얻어진 폐수를 분석한 결과 특히 BOD, COD 등에서 현격한 차이를 보였으며 침전분리 및 화학처리한 결과 인산 처리군은 수산 처리군에 비하여 처리시약 요구량 및 처리시간이 각각 3배, 1.7배로 차이가 극심하였다. 따라서 이들 식물성 기름에서 인산대신 수산을 사용하여 동일한 탈검효과를 얻을 수 있었을 뿐만 아니라 폐수 처리도 개선할 수 있었다.
